Sprint coverage map Spark Turbo

They changed the way it is displayed. The coverage is still the same. Now the colors work like the voice map. Darker shades for better coverage.

Gotcha. That makes sense. The Turbo areas were bad in Baltimore because non of the sites are actually fast yet.

I never get LTE in their "fair" areas. But these coverage maps are way better than before.

The maps are funny, I am under the best coverage on the map but my speeds are 3-6Mbps on average on Clearwire B41.

Coverage has nothing* to do with speed. Merely that you can get a usable signal for LTE/Spark, which it appears you can.

*Yes, it's a prerequisite, but says nothing about the backhaul, congestion, or 25 other factors that go into speed..

I noticed this a few days ago, Honestly I am glad. Because a lot of 8t8r sites now are down in the 30-40's for average here in chicago, that is ever since the iphone 6 and christmas. So I wouldn't say that is spark speeds, until they upgrade the backhaul :D

All the map changes are great and all, but when are they going to actually change the maps.

What do you mean? You don't like the 5x5 square box from 2006? At least they upgraded the map source, so hopefully they are working on a new coverage map tool for the public. :)

Try using the coverage tool on a 4k monitor, it's hilarious.

Are there any areas with Spark Turbo anymore? All the areas around Baltimore that were "Turbo" are no longer marked as such.

Looks like Turbo has been completely removed. Which is probably for the best. It was a little confusing why it was there in the first place, and often created unrealistic expectations.

Definitely. The way it used to be, it looked like nearly the entire coverage footprint (including bands 25 and 26) of any tower with band 41 was "turbo" which probably lead to some disappointment when people ran speedtests in fringe areas covered with band 26 only.

8T8R range is great and they ease congestion on all bands, but speeds still drop out if you get too far away. The new(est, seems like they are tweaked pretty often these days) maps better portray this.
