Motorola X Users Thread!

I played with the Moto X at the ATT store as well.  Too bad I couldn't set the voice to test out the always on Google Now feature since it was too loud in the store.  I still don't like that the actual screen real estate is 4.3 inches since the onscreen buttons take up so much room and that it is single band LTE.  I do like the build quality of the phone and feels really nice and the always on Google Now.  I definitely want to check out the Sprint version at the store for kicks.

I was concerned about the usable screen size as well, but after playing with it in the att store I fell in love with the size. It is a very small phone, and the ease of one handed use is very important to me. I know yall don't want to hear this but it feels like an iPhone.

While I don't much care for Apple and their products, build quality and some parts of the designs they produce seem to be great. I don't want an iPhone, but a phone that feels like an iPhone? I can go for that.

I got to play with this phone today for the first time because a customer wanted to check it out. And I like it a lot. We have the all white one and I wish it was black but it is a nice device with cool usable features.

This message brought to you in part by Sprint and the letters GS and the number 4

The really creepy part is that the always on Google Now is going to record and process all of the words and noises that follow.  Hey, we all know that massages lead to...

;)

This should really help Google comply with HR 5949, should make the NSA happy.

Am I right? Did I win? I pick what is behind door number 2!!!! I don't want a dinner set which is always behind door number 1.

So when are we going to get 32gb and up models for sprint?  Sammy never delivered on a Note 2 that was higher than 16gb and the moto x seems to be launching with the same hollow promise. WTF?!?!  Anyone else bothered by this?

I would, but I know that I would never use the extra 16 (or 32)GB anyway.

Why not just add a SD card for extra storage?  That is why customers love smartphones with a SD card slot.

I saw a report in the newspaper about the Moto X being made in the USA, and they showed a price breakdown of about $225 to manufacture the phone.  Why, then, does Sprint charge $549.99 for the no upgrade price?  Does it cost the carrier that much more to purchase it from Motorola?

That $225 doesn't include the costs for delivery, kickback for carriers/3rd party resellers to sell it, need some profit margin, pay employees in all facets during production of phone, normal G&A costs.  The $225 seems to be just the cost of the phone parts.

I am not sure if this will be a positive post for the Moto X or a negative post for EVO 4G LTE but here goes..  Up until last week I was the only one in the family with an LTE phone which is an EVO 4G LTE.  I have been able to connect to LTE in certain areas around DC so I thought all was good.  Well last night, we were driving around and I noticed my wife's new Moto X was pulling in 4G in areas my phone wouldn't begin to sniff 4G.  Her Moto X was able to transfer data across 4G about a mile further from the nearest active tower than my EVO.  SignalCheck isn't installed on her phone yet so I don't have any hard numbers, but the 4G icon was still lit and I was pulling in web pages quite fast.  So like I started, not sure if this behavior is sign of good signal capability on the Moto X or just showing me how crappy my EVO really is..

Probably a little of both. The Evo LTE is notorious for poor LTE reception and most Motorola phones are known to be rf beasts. How is the Moto X? My wife is really picky about phones and insists the screen has to be less than 5", but there aren't many options for high end small screen phones besides the iPhone.

She has been very pleased so far.  The slightly curved back makes it a really easy phone to hold.  It feels much smaller than my EVO.  My wife is also very 'selective' about her phones and she hasn't complained yet.  If your local Sprint store doesn't have one, drop by an AT&T store so she can hold on and get a feel for it.

Evo 3D was the worse phone I ever had in terms of reception.

Motorola Photon 4G was the best up until I got a Note 2

HTC is known to have poor reception and Motorola is known for great signal performance.

HTC One came out with 32 GB standard and the LG G2 is coming out with 32 GB standard.

This, coupled with the new Sprint press release today makes no mention of triband, I think it's definitely safe to assume that the new MotoX may be the last Sprint smartphone of significance to be single LTE band. Not an honorable distinction. What bad timing for Motorola on the Now network.Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 using Tapatalk

I apologize because I can't recall if we have determined if the Moto X is tri-band or not. Can anyone confirm this?

Moto X is not going to be tri-band. Maybe next year.
