  1. So other phones on network work fine? Same issue with wife's S4
  2. Why does my Nexus 5 go to 3G and never reconnect to LTE? This happens all over Chicago and Suburbs...
  3. When we were manually enable the bands on the Nexus 5 did anyone confirm Sprin Spark speeds? DId not work for me anywhere in Chicago. Will this update have other software updates that will allow the update to work?
  4. Nexus 5 here in Chicago. I activated the two bands and now I am getting in certain location 30 Mbps down and about 8 Mbps up. Is there an app I can downloaded on a non-rooted Nexus 5 with stock android to see what bands I am connected to?
  5. Has anyone noticed better LTE connectivity with the MOTO X?
  6. Haven't been on here in a while. What is the status of Chicago?
  7. Drove from Arlington heights to Chicago via NW HWY and had a consistent 4G strong signal by checking through the Debug menu. I was around 85db. 20mbps down and 9 mbps up. Switched back to 3G when I arrived at Milwaukee and Cicero. Excellent!
  8. I have noticed considerable speed improvements in the NW suburbs. I remember when I first achieved LTE access in Palatine and Barrington via the NW HWY corridor. Now, I consistently get a good LTE connection. In Schaumburg, the other night, I had 25 mbps down and 9 mbps up near Woodfield mall. Has the LTE connectivity and speed increased in these areas for anyone else?
  9. Interesting. I am in Des Plaines with sporadic 4G. Looks like a soft launch and I expect them to have this completed by early next year. Northern burbs have been great with 4G.
  10. Chicago market now shows 4G LTE for the entire market under coverage.sprint.com
  11. Let me clarify my original post. I don't care about LTE in a building. I use Wi-Fi when inside my home and business. When I leave the building it simply connects to 3G and not LTE unless I do what I originally posted. Airplane mode, update PRL,or cycle LTE/CDMA radio. This is a very strong -75to-85 dB LTE area. I get 30 + down and 10+ up. I have a Galaxy Nexus LTE with Jelly Bean 4.1.1.
  12. I am in an area that is getting 30 mpbs down and 10 up consistently. When I leave the building and go outside it does not connect to 3G unless I do the above specified. I understand the signal strength meter is for voice. I read that post recently.
  13. 4G LTE is very good now in the Lake County area north of Lake Cook Rd. for the past week. However, can someone explain the technology between switching from 3G to 4G LTE? When I enter a building from a well saturated area of LTE outside with no issues driving for about 20 minutes connected to super fast LTE, and then when I enter the building it goes to 3G. This is understandable when in the building. However, when I come out and take the same route home there is no connection to LTE at all. It only works if I cycle through LTE/CDMA or update the PRL list. Isn't this suppose to be the opposite of the WiMAX disaster? Can someone take me through the technology? FYI this is a well saturated area of 4G LTE with no issues outside for 1 week now. I am interested on how this new technology will work with Network Vision. Thank you.

  15. Is there a way to tell on a NEXUS GALAXY LTE when connected to 800MHz 1X voice?
  16. Will a 4G network help improve call quality. Can someone take me through the dynamics of voice call handling in a well saturated 4G area. Most of Lake County, IL has strong 4G now. Just curious to know how a 4G network with the new Network Vision can help? Below I have a screen shot of coverage north of Lake Cook Rd. while driving west and then NW on 12 to Lake Barrington, IL. http:// Uploaded with ImageShack.us

  18. Chicagoland update. The 4G LTE bubble on coverage.sprint.com is very accurate. I drove on Lake-Cook Rd and then NW on 12. to Lake Barrington. 4G signal is solid and consistent. When leaving this "bubble" only 3G is available. So this coverage map is very accurate. In fact, the small area on highway 14 in Palatine worked and then went to 3G after leaving this area. How do you post images here?
  19. It is only the northern burbs of Chicago. Check coverage.sprint.com. You will now see an LTE bubble.
  20. if I see a -85 dB setting on my Galaxy Nexus while connected to LTE via the About Phone//Status page is this as accurate as the DEBUG menu?
  21. I posted this over in another thread: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/user/5119-abepilot/ One thing I would like to add is that when I was driving back south from Barrington through Palatine. The signal automatically locked onto 4G again. I pulled into a parking lot and it took about 30 seconds for the 3G to disappear and 4G to appear.
  22. FYI. It basically starts at NW highway and 59. I played golf in Lake Barrington and I had a consistent 4G signal. I actually downloaded you tube videos, checked email, placed a few phone calls, and conducted a video Google Hangout with my wife who was at work on Wi-Fi. Crystal clear video. This of course was after my round of golf! I also noticed that when connected to Sprint LTE my battery did not drain while using my golf GPS app. Charge went from 100% after disconnection from my car down to 63% 4 hours later. Amazing!
  23. I connected to LTE for the first time driving on NW highway through palatine on my way to Lake Barrington. The connection was solid. I did many speed tests. The average was around 7 mbps down and 6 mbps up. Latency between 40-60ms. I have a Galaxy Nexus LTE and the 4G indicator had full bars.
  24. I have been getting eHPRD signals in the Park Ridge//Des Plaines//Niles area for the first time. Sometimes I am getting 1.7 down and 0.6 mbps up. The other half I get the typical low data rates. Is this the beginning of turning on the switch on 9.21.12 for the towers that have been completed?
