Sprint LTE Device Release Dates

Sprint just announced a Spark version of GS4 and I may go with it (though wish it had Snap800 or that Nexus 5 had SD slot).  The date on list says Dec 21.  Does that date still stand for availability or is it available now?

As far as we know, it's not available. We just know the announcement said "In the coming weeks". Hopefully it'll be released in enough time to be delivered for Christmas day.

a gs4 in coming weeks really makes me what wonder if there will be a gs5 anytime soon.

Or maybe samsung has something special coming for 2014? just doesnt make sine to make a triband gs4 when a 5 should be out in 3 months give or take

The GS3 and original GS4 were both released around the start of summer on Sprint. Even if the GS5 was announced in March, it'd still be until June before Sprint releases it.

Unless you live in a spark enabled area I'd wait for the gs5.

The Netgear AC778S, as mentioned above:

While all the crazy people were out shopping on Black Friday, Netgear (formerly Sierra Wireless) got FCC approval for a Tri-band Aircard, model number AC778S. It is a mobile hotspot too. It looks like 2014 could be shaping up to an interesting Sprint year. Stay tuned!

looks to be the first Spark Enabled tri-band prepaid device. If this is the case, the Netgear AC778S is the Netgear Mingle, and it's coming to Virgin Mobile.

Today, Boost Mobile released the ZTE Max. Thanks to an eBay listing, I was able to confirm that the ZTE Max is the ZTE N9520 I found in the FCC OET database on November 12th of last year. This monster of a phone is a 5.7" phablet.

Mid-Range Tri-band LTE device found in the FCC database for January 28, 2014. Article will be forthcoming this weekend!

Band 26 LTE maximum conducted ERP/EIRP level of 29.19 dBm, Band 25 LTE maximum of 28.99 dBm, and Band 41 LTE maximum of 27.81 dBm. It's pretty high performance! This looks to be a good device coming up!

Is Sprint expected to release GS5 around same time as other carriers?  I don't see it in first post.

Any word on a new Note 3 with Spark?

Since neither device has been announced, nor any FCC docs or reliable leaked info is out, there are no answers to those questions.  When reliable info comes up, there will be lots on info.

Are there any rumors as to when carrier aggregated phones are coming out this year? My guess is late 2014.

No rumors yet. Maybe sometime in the future we will hear something.

At MWC today LG announced the LG Volt (F90) for Sprint. It's a mid-range Spark capable phone with a Snapdragon 400 and Android 4.4 KitKat on board and a 4.7" qHD display. Hmm, it sounds awfully familiar spec wise to the LG LS740 I just wrote about on January 31st. See here.

Links to Phone Scoop article and hands-on.

According to the Hands-on article, the phone's internal model is LG LS740.

First, I want to thank twospirits (aka Dave) for putting this together and sharing it with me, and now I will use this awesome table he built and keep adding devices to it.

Sprint Devices list....

It would be nice if you added GCI support to the list.  Apple can be included with a note about hexadecimal conversion.  GCI is very handy at identifying specific towers.  It might also encourage Samsung and others to add it.

I can say that GCI display capability will not be added to the table here.  But that is something you could discuss with mikejeep about adding to the SignalCheck thread.

Love this chart! Amazing!

I know the chart is related to LTE data, but what do you think about adding HD voice calls and 800voice columns as well?

People could at least see what they are missing out on by staying in their current model.

Virtually all of Sprints phones have supported 1x800 (800voice) for the last several years (except for the iPhone's).  HD voice would be cool to know, just not sure if that info is readily accessible.

Both LTE iPhones support 1x800 voice. As for HD Voice, I'm really not sure which phones do support it, as I thought it was supposed to be on all 1x800 capable LTE phones except the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy Nexus.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and coule potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.  — — — — — The old permit expired for this site without any work being done but a new permit was just approved a few days ago for a T-Mobile site at this address. Description mentions 3 antennas with 2 RRUs per sector. My guess is they're doing something similar to what they did at 360 Furman St in Brooklyn where they broadcast Band 2/66 and n25/41 from one antenna. It's a bit of a downgrade considering the site it's replacing was a full build with Ericsson 6449s.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
