so the 4g core at bayamon is up and running?

Yes. It completed at the end of September, on schedule.

Robert, do you know why the Galaxy S3 does not connect in places where I have signal and the Galaxy Nexus does?

The S3 connected in LTE Only mode.

This was on Calle Cesar Gonzalez, between Roosevelt Ave and Eleanor Roosevelt in San Juan.

for some reason, that spot has always had great speeds, though I don't know if it's been upgraded already

I'm guessing is NV related because just minutes later speeds were awful, below 100kbps. .

could be... last week I had a 1800 kbps test while going thru there, so it's quite possible NV's getting worked on in the area

Great news, im getting LTE in Bayamon ! Im getting 4G less than 1/4 of a mile away from my house. The signal is weak but atleast I know they are working on it and I can tell it works way better than wimax. The speedtests were not that fast but I did not have the best signal either.

Canton Mall and Plaza del Sol with LTE :)

I passed by this area about an hour ago and couldn't find any LTE signal, even had my Evo set to LTE only using digiblur's modded PRL and nada; set it back to CDMA/LTE around Canton Mall and the LTE indicator lit up but had no data transfer, so I couldn't test speeds

I would be curious if someone could confirm in a known LTE area that you could not receive it with standard stock PRL.

My GS3 connected automatically, I was in a traffic light and when I look at my phone I had 4G. I almost could not believe it because I went by that area earlier looking for a signal and didnt get anything, and when I went to the airport I had to set it to LTE Only to be able to connect. So it was a huge surprise to see it connected automatically and that close to my home! :)

Running Digiblur's Custom PRL : 57006

Do a PRL update and see if it still connects to LTE. Simply do the PRL write thing to get 57006 back. Still looking for a confirmation from the PR folks.

that's awesome! I'll be passing by there again in a while, I'll try to get a connection this time...

EDIT: egonadrian, what's your setup? are you using a stock PRL or digiblur's modded one? do you have your phone set to LTE only or normal CDMA/LTE operation?

I'm trying to figure out why my phone seems to not sniff out the LTE signal and connect in known LTE areas right now, thanks!

    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
    • What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
