  1. That may be true but when you are in the same place for 9hours without 4g kinda sucks. Everyother place is completely covered except there. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  2. Oh man still no 4G in the Bayamon UPR site. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Well my experience in my home in Puerto Rico before we got LTE, the signal would be all crazy it would vary from 1 bar to full bars in a couple of seconds leaving the phone in the same spot. It would also go to 1x and back to 3g then back to 1x and it would keep doing that the whole day. Also voice calls would often drop and data was just crap. I was like that for almost 2 months. Then one day I wake up, check my phone and ta-daa there was the 4g icon. Now I get solid 4 bars and good 4g speeds in my house. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  4. Even though the island is small the terrain isn't exactly flat so there will be issues no matter what. Thats why places like around the antilles school area will always have issues with sprint because there is no line of site to any other tower on the island. On the other hand if I go offshore fishing 10 or 15 miles to the north of St. thomas I am still getting a great signal because there is nothing between me and the towers. Cell phone signal travels much farther than we think, I was actually on a flight 38,000 feet in the air and I was barely getting 1x. I couldnt do anything but it would go from -140 to -120 meaning it was getting a hint of signal. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  5. but i mean their update process..like how was theirs successful and sprint is still struggling?Correct me if im wrong but I think At&t already had the backhaul in place because they used HSPA+. I know it is extremely frustrating guys but you will get LTE soon, because it is a fact they are working on it and even the press knows. They probably dont want bad publicity so they will get it done as fast as possible. Many states and major cities still havent started NV. Just hold on guys you wont regret it. 6. Well the gs4 and the htc one on sprint both have removable sims, if you remove the sim though you won't be able to get lte. I haven't sim unlocked my phone through sprint as yet but a few people over on xda have been able to get it done contacting their international department. Some have also said that they have gotten their sprint One to work on tmobile sans lte of course. Sprint is CDMA, and Tmobile & At&t are GSM. I really dont think the HTC One or the S4 support it. Its just like the iphone which has a sim card for LTE use. If there was any other carrier using the same 1900 LTE frequency as Sprint then you could probably unlock the phone put their sim in and have a LTE only phone. Unless you flash it to the other company. But no other companys support the same frequencys so I highly doubt it. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  7. Tmobile's phones work with At&t if you switch the sim cards, and you will never get anything better than HSPA+, so there goes LTE. Sprint doesnt use Sim cards. Just getting out there. Not sure if I answered what you where talking about, I understand less than 1/4 of what you write! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  8. Line of sights, so basically, it can go farther away but because the earth is round the microwave signal cant go through the earth or around it. This makes it very doable and most likely what they used in PR and the VI, and it has capacity for various gbps. In my opinion it is the best way to go. A lot faster deployment and way cheaper than running fiber lines from PR to the VI, through the bottom of the ocean. Microwave is affected by climate but I do not think it will cause that many problems. This technology has come a really long way making it pretty reliable. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  9. I know that towers feed other towers backhaul through microwave link on the island itself, I mean you can look at the towers and see that for yourself but I simply just don't see how backhaul has been or will be received through microwave link from Puerto Rico. Hopefully Robert can chime in clarify a few things. Well, the Islands arent that far apart, so the backhaul is in PR, and it could be like a chain. The microwave backhaul goes from PR to Vieques then Culebra, then to St. Thomas which is actually very close then to the rest of the Virigin Islands. That would be my guess. If it is this way, I think it might be a bit unreliable tough if any of those sites goes down that means the rest that are getting backhaul from it will go down also. Hopefully, they are hurricane proof! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  10. Hey guys guess what!?! LTE is going on tomorrow worldwide! Yes, every Sprint customer will have Unlimited LTE coverage in China, India and even Europe! The dad of my friends girlfriend cousin told me, but I don't want to get him in trouble so I wont say his name. This confidential info from the top! Lol If you know what I mean, lol. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  11. Am I the only one that feels like a god when one of your non-techy friends has a issue with their phone and you solve it in less than 10 seconds. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  12. i dont think that might work...cuz i always have info! Since the beginning of the thread, I have never seen any info posted on your behalf. And if you did have information why not post it? A saying here in Puerto Rico, "Sabes tanto que sabes a mierda" Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Ever since Liberty bought Onelink, I have seen a great boost in competition in the island. Claro only used to offer up to 4mbps a couple of years back and it was very expensive. Now they go up to 50mbps. This started when Liberty started offering their 30mbps speeds, and once they bought Onelink, it greatly improved their offers. We used to pay about $140 for cable, 4 mbps internet with 40gb cap, and a phone landline with Onelink. Since Libery took over, the cap is gone, they increased my internet speed to 6mbps, then they automatically up'd it to 10mbps, HD boxes in various rooms etc... all for the same price. Gotta love competition Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  14. I always ran a quick speedtest when I went to the gas station in front of the first bank to see if it was online but always got 4mb from another tower farther away. Yesterday I went to the gas station and I was getting 30mb+ consistently. So I am 100% sure that tower has been LTE enabled. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  15. That would be great for some areas, but it is not what is best for the island. If it is anything like wimax, I dont expect to get very much signal more than half a mile away, that is without includung the topography and concrete walls. I see that spectrum being good in el choliseo, las justas, las fiestas de la calle san sebastian etc... the capacity in those places would be amazing. Most of the times I go to one of those parties phones are almost unusable. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Why would you want a phone with 800mhz support if its not going to go live in PR? Starting this year in UPRB so hopefully it goes live by the time I go there. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  17. I think it is very well covered, it is just in need of a lower frequency. It would be too costly for sprint to cover the inside of the island and other places where the signal cant reach. If they could deploy in 800mhz, im absolutely sure all those little deadzones around the island would be covered. Concrete here just absolutely kills the signal! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I agree 100%! The only thing that can make them better is if they were to use the lower frequencies for better building penetration. I feel like it is almost a must here, because of the terrain and the concrete buildings everywhere. Once they do that here in PR, it will be amazing. Not sure if it is possible tough :/ Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Im not megabytes but my opinion is that T-mobile is good only in the metro area. Anywhere outside the metro area prepare to be stuck in edge or 2g. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Lol I know right! Im really nervous! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  21. That is great to hear! Just got accepted there! So hopefully ill have blazing fast speeds through out the campus! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Well yesterday my closest tower got updated to eHRPD. I had 4G before but I still was having dropped calls, delays in sending/recieving text messages etc. I have to say with three bars a week ago a call was impossible, today I got a long distance phone call from my dad and had 1 bar the whole time and the call was crystal clear! Text messages now send pretty much instantly and 0 dropped calls. The speeds are now reaching 2mbps on 3g and it is working great in low signal conditions! Getting 4g was great but now that the kinks have been resolved it is perfect! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  23. It is a small market with a high population density and a lot of competition. I think those are big factors as to why we have LTE from most cell phone carriers. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  24. Wow I feel so blessed to be in the first market to be completed. You guys have no idea how lucky we are, there are a lot of markets and we get to be the first one to be 100% complete! I think it is because there is a lot more competition here than any other market. I remember PR was one of the first markets where AT&T launched with LTE, and Tmobile also launched 42mbps HSPA+ here. Now we also have Sprint LTE, Claro LTE and Open Mobile LTE. That is a lot of competition for a small island. A lot of places in the US still do not have LTE, let alone Sprints LTE. We are truly blessed to live here. Proud to be Puerto Rican This is also going to be great for tourists that come to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands since they will always be connected with blazing fast UNLIMITED speeds wherever they are on vacation.
