I thought that on CDMA you only connected to one tower at a time. I guess that does not apply to Lte?

Actually you can be connected to three towers at a time, one for 1x, another for 3g and a third for lte.

It's gotta be headed your way *relatively* soon.

That's gotta be a double entendre. Don't you have relatives in USVI?

That's basically the same offer you get at sprint.

Sprint sells it for $99.99if you're switching from another provider.... By bringing your number from the competition. Costco sells it for that price + free accessories to everyone eligible for an upgrade.

And I just got it, the real price is $130 for upgrades. $99 new lines. They included a nice yet cheap TPU rubber case, 2 screen protectors, a car charger, 90 day return/exchange warranty and no $36 activation fee. It was a hassle free experience and the people working there are super nice. :)

My sister is mad since she paid $236(with activation) for hers last week.

Pretty darn good price for a phone that's barely a month old... Although it's worth noting that it's not exactly hard to dodge the activation fee at Sprint. I've never been charged activation when buying thru Wirefly even tho it should've been charged, and I've also heard it's pretty easy to just call Sprint (maybe try going directly to the retention dpt) to complain about the fee and give them the whole loyal customer spiel... They'll usually give you a credit for it, heck that even works on AT&T (told my mother it was worth a shot when she got the One X and it totally worked).

Might be something your sister can try, although even if she gets the credit it'll still be a $70 difference... Didn't anyone here sign up for that HTC offer where they'd give you $100 back after mailing your One proof of purchase along with your old smartphone? I didn't read the fine print but it seems you could've stacked it with any of these recent offers, provided you had an older phone; something like the EVO LTE or SGS3 is probably still worth over $100 used, but anything older is probably not.

CompUSA's been selling phones in PR too and I think they'll match printed offers (or was that Radio Shack? I forget) Usually everyone has phones cheaper than the carrier stores after a month or two, the One was already down to $150 or $160 at Costco two weeks ago... Your sister didn't shop around much. :P

The thing is that she lives in Mayagüez, theres nothing other than a coorporate sprint store there. I'm deeply considering getting one for myself, the offer is valid until June 2, 2013.

I'm still keeping an eye on the map for certain areas in Guaynabo to get completed. They're rollout speed has definitely slowed down.

San Juan is still missing several towers. Looking at the map I would say it's about 70 percent completed. Pretty soon we're going to need to find something new to b**** and moan about.

San Juan, Bayamon & Guaynabo are still missing LTE site completion, but there's no new progress to report so it's been quiet here.

I'm waiting for the announcement of the Galaxy Note 3 with tri-band LTE :)

    • T-Mobile has saved its 28Mhz mmWave licenses by using the point to point method to do environment monitoring inside its cabinets. The attachment below shows the antennas used: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/ApplicationSearch/applAdmin.jsp;JSESSIONID_APPSEARCH=LxvbnJuvusmIklPhKy6gVK7f9uwylrZ8LiNf3BqIKlDp3_5GxoBr!300973589!225089709?applID=14787154#   Here are the sites for Franklin county OH: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/attachments/attachmentViewRD.jsp?applType=search&fileKey=66518254&attachmentKey=21989782&attachmentInd=applAttach
    • Yep, there is a label on the side of the box but it doesn't provide any useful info that the city doesn't already provide (Crown Castle Solutions is the franchisee). You can see my graphical interpretation of the city's dataset here.

    • Totally agree.  In my county and surrounding counties, TM did not place n-41 on every site.  When I look at the sites in question, I probably would have not placed it there either.  I can find just a few with n-71 only and in most of those cases if you live there and know the probable usage of the residents, you would not do a full upgrade on those sites.  One site in particular is set up to force feed n-71 through a long tunnel on the Turnpike.  No stopping allowed in the tunnel. No stores, movie theaters, bathrooms, so n41 would be a waste.    n25 is not really needed either, so it is not there.  The tunnel is going through & under a mountain with more black bears than people.  TM was smart.  Get good coverage in the tunnel but do not waste many many thousands of dollars with extra unused spectrum. I also see sites with only n71 & n25.  Again this makes sense to me.  Depending on what county we are talking about, they moved much of their b25 from LTE to nr.  Some counties have more n25 than a neighboring county, but luckily, it is plenty everywhere.   When you are in a very rural area, n41 can run up the bills and then be barely used.  I am NOT finding sites that should have had n41 but TM failed to provide it.  They may have to come back later in a few years and upgrade the site to n41.  However, we just may eventually see the last little piece on Band 25 leave LTE and move to n25. I am not sure if the satellite to phone service is using band 25 G block as LTE or nr. We also can possibly have at least some AWS move from LTE to nr at some point.  Yes, everybody wants n41. it is not justified in some cases.  When I travel, I desire some decent service along the entire route but it does not have to be 1 or 2 gig download.   If I can get 50/5 on a speedtest with data that will flow and not stutter, I am very happy. Yes, they will swap out the USC gear.  TM needs to match their existing network. The USCC equipment did the job for years, but it is time to retire it.
