  2. I don't deal with non-corporate stores and in this instance I went directly to the store with the repair techs. This is why I was kind of surprised to hear they didn't have the ROM for my phone. Whatever. I took it at face value. In any case, i'm learning new things including not to screw with manual band selection on the EVO LTE. Not only can I not roam on 850, I'm not seeing any action on 800 when I'm in west Michigan outside the IBEZ. (Managed to circle back around and get sorta relevant to the topic
  3. Lisa Simpson: “Nuke the Whales”? You don’t really believe that, do you? Nelson Muntz: I dunno. Gotta nuke somethin'. Lisa Simpson: Touché
  4. Uncommon but possible. There is a site in Highland Township, MI (northern Oakland County) that threw me off because it turns out NV was installed on a different rack than legacy.
  5. How many screen names do you have here???
  6. I confirmed today that I will need to do a full and complete factory reset since roaming did not work at all when I was out and about. I'm currently looking into ways of getting the MSL before I get too involved with the reset. I've seen hit and miss reports about Sprint coughing up your MSL number. And I've seen numerous pages out on the net about needing to root the EVO LTE to draw the MSL out of the phone itself I figure with the Sprint store blowing me off about reflashing my phone and saying "good luck, you're on your own" that I took that as a green light to root my phone.
  7. Looks like I need to read these threads more often I ran into this problem while traveling and got my phone stuck in boot loop. Was able to get it under control eventually and went to a Sprint store to ask them to reflash the ROM. They said they didn't have it but I could find it on the internet somewhere, maybe even HTC's website
  8. I was just in Sault Ste Marie, MI and I made sure that our phones had international roaming voice and data disabled else we would have picked up service from Sault Ste Marie, ON since service is spotty out of town. Worked just fine. A side note: I run Netmonitor so I wanted to log some Canadian BSIDs so I enabled international roaming once. It kicked over to Bell Mobility and I instantly received 2 text messages telling me what the rates were and how to contact Sprint concerning my plan and international roaming. I didn't think the charges were too far out of line with normal a la carte service charges.
  9. I use both but I make sure I run Netmonitor since I can add notes to the logs like Sprint site ID and what not. Also, the sectors remain plotted on the map so I can go back and identify actual sector/site location after traveling. Once SignalCheck Pro can do something similar then I'll switch solely over to Mike's program. I do like the thorough signal data SCP provides.
  10. Pre-NV sites in Michigan have sectors squawking offset coordinates. NV sites are dead-on exact.
  11. Perhaps what I'm going to say isn't likely to be popular but more realistic from my view. Isn't the point of Sensorly for the everyday person to get a better idea of actual coverage of cellular services? I mean differentiation of roaming would be cool but doesn't band by band coverage seem like it would fly over the heads of the general populace and possibly create even more confusion? I think the Sensorly representative here said once already their objective is to show users simply whether or not their phone had service in (x) area. What could be neat to see is a Pro version of the app/site that would show coverage data collected at the band level if it was in fact possible for them to do. Just sayin'.
  12. Just got through dealing with the same thing in my area. It lasted about a month or so and was EXTREMELY frustrating to the point where I almost went to get a vzw prepaid just to make and take phone calls. Hard to win people over to Sprint when I'm yelling at my phone as if the phone and Sprint could hear me. Then the 3G upgrades in our little cluster came online and it was like night and day. Data was wonky for about week afterward but wow is the signal awesome and solid. There is a site in this cluster that all service has been off and on though.
  13. Simply put, AT$T just showed up with the biggest dump truck full of cash.
  14. I've wondered if it was possible to have a system like a thermal infrared camera but instead the camera would be set for a RF range and then translate everything to a color output.
  15. Which would be awesome for those of us in the Canadian IBEZ
  16. I'm willing to wager someone at the executive level is at least a sponsor level member, more likely premier sponsor, to keep tabs on things. I'm sure this site would be smoked by now if things got too uncomfortable for them. Perhaps they see it as a free viral marketing opportunity.
  17. While signal has generally improved in my area when the legacy equipment went offline and NV went online, I'm still within the IBEZ so I hope those types of situations are taken into account.

  19. What's with all the AT$T people around here lately?
