  1. I'm here looking for answers to a simple question. Where is this mystery Sprint signal coming from? For the past few weeks I've received a signal on multiple Sprint devices, two Sprint devices with roaming turned off, and two Virgin Mobile phones and Virgin Mobile phones can't roam, the other rate plans might be able but I'm talk about Virgin Mobile devices from before they introduced all those other plans. What I'm making clear is these devices have to be picking up a Sprint signal, plus I've downloaded the SignalCheck Pro app which has indicated two different signals 1XRTT and 1X800. The signal only last for about 8 hours each morning and begins coming in and out towards the end of each morning. I try making a call and it fails, and it doesn't get any data at all. I try each device and they all do the same thing they have a signal and very strong signal with no data, and voice doesn't go threw, I haven't tried sending a text figured no data, no voice then there must be no text. I read about some "projects" that Sprint has going on Project Ocean and Project Cedar. Since Project Ocean is suppose to be taking place in Missouri and I live so close to the Iowa, Missouri line, I figured if there is a tower going up maybe it is possible I'm getting a signal from it, in the early stages. I really don't know what is going on, if Sprint is launching service, putting up new towers and that signal finally comes, and stays, and works. I'll be back full time on the Sprint ban wagon. Unfortunately, I live in an area not served by (according to experience and coverage map) Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint. Not even the two Iowa carriers i Wireless or Chat Mobility serve my area, go 10, 15 or 20 miles in any direction your good, here, wireless dead zone, no choice of carriers. And if Sprint puts a tower here if I finally get an answer and learn that signal will soon come and stay and work I'll finally have a choice. So if anyone has any ideas, has experienced this in other parts of the country or has any idea what could be going on please say. Any information is better than not knowing, and together maybe this will be answered.
  2. Try to make this as short and simple as possible. I have three devices; 2 of which are on the same plan and the third on a separate plan. The third device is my tab 4 which is picking up SprintB41 site 310120 just great. I get 3 bars downstairs. My other two devices; Galaxy Note 4 & Galaxy Note Edge for some reason will not pick up this tower. I have tried PRL updates, Profile updates, restarted the phones and all I can get them to connect to is a ClearwireB41 site. More background info...all devices have same Sim card as when purchased, tablet stays off 3/4 of the day and my phones are on when I wake up and turn them off at night. No matter where I go inside or out my phones won't connect to the Sprint site. Anybody have any ideas before I call Sprint trying to figure something out? I'm not sure how long the tablet has been able to connect to this site so I'm not sure what to think of it besides agitated that the tablet of all things is connecting. I posted two photos; one of the tablet connected to the Sprint site; second of the Clear wire site my phones connect to. Thanks in advance.
  3. The closest Sprint tower to my house is about 3.5 miles away. In between are hills, trees, a handful of houses, and fields. However, I do have line of sight. I can see the blinking light of the tower in the distance at night. I do not think Sprint has deployed any LTE at this tower. When they do, is it possible that the LTE signal would reach my house? Right now I have a Moto X, but I may go back to the Q10. I do pick up eHRPD at my house. What frequency is that on? I'm thinking Sprint's 800ish mhz LTE band might. Not sure about 1900 though.. Thanks
  4. So I have a tower that I've been keeping my eye on. It is a "Legacy" Marked tower, and it shows on the Maps as such. Looking at the tower, it looks legacy. Old panels still up on the tower. Now At work, I have a new NV Tower (New Panels, RRU's, etc.) and I connect to it on 3G SID: 4159 NID: 305. I go to this tower (Legacy Looking), sit right under it with a -58 signal and have the same SID: 4159 NID: 305. Now here's my big question. Could this possibly be either: A. GMO Site (According to a previous article, the Orlando Market didn't have any) B. Full Build with RRU's on the Ground (Cannot tell because of where the cabinets are cannot see them) C. Still Legacy (We are in an incumbent Market so could they be the same NID? Or does this only apply to eCSFB?) Or...Am I totally off in thinking that the SID/NID are different with Legacy/NV Equip? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Good morning everyone, We've been experiencing some interesting problems in San Diego over the last few weeks - persistent voice and data outages all over the county. SprintCommunity.com's customer-care reps have attributed the problem to OEM issues and have acknowledged the county-wide nature of the outages here, here, here and here. This is a typical response: For me in particular, it's eight days and counting, and there's still one tower down near my home. My GNex and ZING seem to handle it OK, pulling in a 4G or 3G signal depending upon what's up or down (although this morning our service is voice-only). My wife's GS3, on the other hand, reboots frequently unless I disable LTE in settings. San Diego is in the IBEZ area and uses Samsung equipment, and is approaching 4G completion. Out of nothing more than curiosity, does anyone have an idea what kinds of problems could be causing voice and data outages across so many towers? Happy Friday! John
  6. They are constantly doing work on this tower I know its not the best photo but they just put these white panels on the tower I have checked and found that the tower is owned by STC Two LLC which is a subsidiary owner of sprint towers, my thing is, is that on the sprint website it's not marked for an LTE upgrade. I've seen lots of trucks with huge metal box like building things along with tons of people working in and out of there. I live in a small rural community in florida known as lithia, the sad thing is I'm just outside the 4g coverage of sprint. heres the link https://plus.google.com/u/0/113947387432572563827/posts the site wouldn't allow me to post the photo.
  7. Not sure if this is the proper venue for it... But it looks like Verizon wants to beef up service in Brookfield, WI. A local news station ran a story about resident opposition. http://www.wisn.com/news/south-east-wisconsin/waukesha/brookfield-residents-battle-cell-tower/-/10150328/20039148/-/x3grr2z/-/index.html?absolute=true
  8. A new tower is going up in Raleigh. Is there any way to tell if Sprint will be using it? Approximate coords are 35.7904, -78.6244. http://goo.gl/maps/hJbc4
  9. EDIT: This site was determined to be an AT&T site further down in the thread. There is a new tower being installed near my place. Unfortunately, there are NO carrier markings on any of the equipment. The shack is still being built down in the parking lot. Can anyone tell anything from the attached photos. You can see two separate towers for the install. Mind you this is around a softball field oddly enough and this field never had lights before these towers were installed. This is the tower on the right. Only two wires to each of these panels (basically one side connected) but that being said this tower does not appear to be complete as the lower "rung" is not populated with RUUs. This is the left tower, it appear that there are two RUU's per panel. Note that one antena does not appear to be hooked up yet. That the other antenna has all four wires connected. I apologize for the suboptimal quality of the pics, these were taken with my phone. Plus I had to shrink them to fit them in this post. I have more pics of each tower if needed as well as the fullsize images that I can rehost elsewhere.
  10. I have a particular problem with signal around my house. All sort of signals do not get to my house. I will lose all but the strongest radio signals even FM and OTA TV, cellphone is no different. I recently switched from iDen (which worked reasonably well - ~90db) to CDMA (which leaves much to be desired ~110db+ on a good day) So long story short I decide to get a booster for my house. I already have a TV antenna that I installed myself so I can attest to its proper grounding and stability. On my roof I get around 100db on my PCS phone so I will need to get a specialized antenna to be able to grab signals from my tower about 2.6 miles NE of my house. (My closest Wimax tower is 4.2 miles ~13degrees east of the first tower, I thought about getting a booster to pick that up but given recent developments I guess I can wait for LTE.) I have found this antenna: http://www.zdacomm.com/1900-mhz-grid-paraboilc-dish-antenna-series.html Now I want to match it up with a reasonable amp that I can also split to three internal antennas if necessary to cover my whole house with reliable signal. I was hoping I could get some insight from some of you about this idea and whether NV will make this whole effort moot. (I tend to believe not because all carriers have issue at my house) Also I was hoping you could give me some advice on whether this antenna will do the trick or its just overkill, I rather give the booster the best signal I can get to it so that I get the best signal possible at my house.

    My tower....

after seeing some of the photos of some of the towers out there and knowing what mine looks like I figured I'd post up a few shots of mine since i can get pretty close to it. Mine(crown castle site)personally looks like its used by everyone under the sun, but also is one of few ive seen that has old looking semi buildings next to it... Tower has WiMax and had it for a long long long time ever since I bought the EVO4G on launch day, though i didn't see anything marked "Clearwire".... If you save this pic and zoom in it looks like a complete cluster fk up there. lol This one you can see the ATT cabinet there on the left there are 2 of those. Heres a view of the 2 sprint cabinets with much less branding on them compared to the ATT ones... here is the only marking on the cabinet..."Site ID: RA03XC040" And here I thought this was funny. "SPRINT" labled on these two posts here at the top of the hill...Can only think this is for the future "band-aid" T1 lines run thats supposed to be done by next month.... I noticed no microwave radome's here so whenever NV rollout comes through my area it will be very interesting to see how this changes if there is a fiber run tot he tower or if they add the first radome to it... Whats funny is that even though I can see the tower shown above from my house as its within about 0.7mi but sometimes I end up picking up this lil tower here thats about double the distance away... both spit out the same sub 300kbps EVDO speeds during the day if that at all...lol, NV cant come any sooner!! :)
  12. I was wondering if there was anyway to see or find out which cell tower your phone is connected to? any help will be greatly helpful.
  13. I snapped a few pictures of the 3 closest towers to my house, trying to identify the sprint equipment (and clear wimax). One of them is obvious because its a single head on top of a building by the airport, but the rest I'm clueless on. Can anyone help me identify what equipment belongs to who on these towers? DE73XC878 - Remy Dr, Lansing, MI (I don't know enough about the panels, but it looks like two different types on this site. It's on top of a small building near the airport.) DSC_1609 by jefbal99_, on Flickr DE60XC036 - Stanley St, Lansing, MI (Pretty sure there is WiMax on this tower, based on looking at the clear.com/coverage maps. Also, closest to my house) DSC_1599 by jefbal99_, on Flickr DE33XC553 - Filley St (Shared tower by the railroad tracks. I have closer pictures of the individual panels if needed, but this was the only one with everything) DSC_1603 by jefbal99_, on Flickr
  14. This is a tower that I pass on my way home. It is listed as one slated for NV but I can't tell if any work has started. Can any of you tell me any NV work has begun here?

Odd Tower Placement in Lincoln, Nebraska

So I was driving home from work the other day, and drove by this newly constructed tower, at the intersection of Adams St. and some unmarked road, but leads to the Windmill St. roundabout. Is there a way to look up who operates on this tower? http://g.co/maps/4dsb9 http://g.co/maps/pd6me This tower I know is managed by Crown Castle, per the signage outside. I thought it was strange though because there's a very VERY large tower (one of the largest I've ever seen) just down the street that serves the area with Verizon 1X, 3G, and LTE, Sprint's 3G, and AT&T's 3G that would more than be enough for this area. http://www.americantower.com/SiteLoc...nited%20states My Transform Ultra (Boost Mobile/Sprint) shows five bars when I'm by both towers (not sure on db readings). The Cricket phone (which seems to have very similar coverage to the Sprint tower...) shows three bars, Verizon shows three bars, and AT&T shows no bars thanks to their complete neglect for Nebraska. Also, I know of a tower that needs some serious attention. This tower is quite unique in the way it's been implemented, but has some horrible 3G speeds. The max I've ever gotten on this tower according to the Speedtest.Net app on Android is 0.10 down, 0.03 up. The oddly placed tower above in the first paragraph always gives me 2.53 down, 0.89 up, same with big red up there. This site is unique because on the property, are four towers. Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and Cricket, all within one area, independent from each other. http://www.americantower.com/SiteLoc...nited%20states
