  1. PRL's were mentioned, the man with the master plan is here! What kind of voice quality do you get with 90-100dBm? because mid 90's+ on voice...not fun for me.
  2. That is awesome to see these sites finally coming online, but it seems that the PRL is forcing 800 priority over signal quality on 1900. Your signal strength numbers are not very good. Also, you mentioned that the sites were burdened, I seriously doubt that any of these sites are overburdened. I think it has alot more to do with signal strength, or the lack thereof in your case. I find any Voice signal over 90dBm is pushing the limits.
  3. Looks like CDMA 800 was finally spotted in NYC! http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1901-network-visionlte-new-york-city-market/?p=179401 Big ups to lasoto for the find!
  4. I'm only a few miles out from this site...so I'm hoping, its very very soon!
  5. you should post on this thread! http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2358-everything-800mhz-1xa-lte-coverage-timeline-etc/page-46
  6. That site is right off the coast of the Bronx!!! that might explain why your getting it from there! thats incredible how far that signal is traveling! (rikers island and laGuardia are sitting between you and that site!!!)
  7. One thing that I have noticed about the way handing off works with regards to switching from 3G to 4G and vice versa, if your phone, is constantly accessing that data connection (be it 3G or 4G) it will not hand off, the phone will wait, until its in an idle state, THEN switch. So for example, if your in a 3G only area, and you happen to travel within a 4G coverage area while your phone is accessing data, it will NOT hand off to 4G until the radio is in an idle state! So bottom line, switching to airplane mode will just stop your radio from accessing the network and wake up in the preferred state (hopefully LTE). Also, try to keep those background apps at bay, it will greatly reduce the time it takes to switch radio modes.
  8. If im not mistaken, Sprint does announce a city once it hits around the 40% mark. So that might explain.
  9. Bars or dBm readings, its used for the same reference one more accurate than the other, but I get your point..another thing, dont underestimate high school chemistry, I graduated in 97 and their is no way in shit hell I would pass that right now! LOL
  10. Also, you might end up in a situation where the Clearwire site might even be closer than the Sprint site. It could end up being the best of both worlds, and eventually, even better signal if sprint decides to add NV to the Clear site (unlikely but you never know)
  11. This reminds me of when ATT's network was on the fritz after the iPhone, and instead of addressing the issue with JUST network upgrades, they decided that more bars displayed on the iPhone was the solution!
  12. Well their is nothing stopping the phone from connecting CDMA 1x 800 voice and whatever available band on data at the same time.
  13. I think ideally, the reverse makes more sense since decent 2600 signal (as we've seen from Roberts testing) would offer up the most performance, and drop down to 800 when signal strength is of essence.
  14. As we all have learned time and time again, press releases mean absolutely nothing to us. So we shouldn't be surprised at the lack of change in the way the build out is going.
  15. Coverage in the bronx is not perfect..but its fair that they announced it now..I rarely ever drop to 3G unless im indoors.
  16. It would be nice to get something a bit more significant than a press release, at least 800 CDMA, since Sprint has more control over how and when that gets completed with minimal outside forces (like backhaul) standing in their way!
  17. You basically went to the one place where there is almost no sign of LTE..if you go a bit further north into the 40's there is LTE signal, and into the 20's there is LTE signal as well. But the 30's (Penn station is on 34th street) you have to go as far as 5th ave to get LTE..That area, plus lower manhattan have big Gaps, but the rest of the island has okish outdoor coverage.
  18. Gotta make believe the rest of the world also cares whats going on in the sprint world! Also, I was just being lazy.. LOL!
