Smh. How about they stop trying to sneak the big uglies and do what everyone else is getting approved and deployed so easily??

I personally don't care but it seems others do. So how about a universal approach that won't be so difficult? Or start putting them up as flag poles. Smh

Does Marcelo have more good numbers?

I think he's just poking fun at vzw cause they are opening more call centers.

I mean...no ones beating down the doors to join Sprint...though the network is indeed better but it's not quite where it should be after all these years. It's going to be interesting to see Verizon's numbers since they've had their unlimited offering out for a legit full quarter, T- Mobile and this get out the red promo( a desperate move marked as a promo) and Sprints 5 for $90 promo when this quarter is finished.

Marcelo's post appears to refer to Verizon's redesigned physical stores, not call centers.

Why is Verizon opening more call centers?

"Get out the red" promo?

Well its more so in one call center in charlotte. They are relocating to a larger space I think it's like 90k square feet and has additional room to grow like 100-300 new jobs. When clicking on the like (which I should have done). I like that new vzw store layout. Looks premium.

The T-Mobile get out the red is this promo targeted at Verizon customers who have iPhones and pixels. If you port to T-Mobile you can keep you iPhone or Pixel and T-Mobile will pay off your entire phone installment plan no matter how much you owe.

Ahhhh.... thanks for the info on that.

It's a nice layout. I agree. Sprint has some flagship locations which are pretty nice too. The Store at the Flatiron building in NYC is really nice. It also became a broadcasting location for Cheddar. (https://cheddar.com)

Marcelo has emphasized that Sprint Retail is an important Retail Channel, but at the same time, he's said that they're trying to move as much to digital as possible.

If you haven't already seen them, have a look at his most recent remarks on Retail:

The specific Q/A for retail is near the end.

I can't really tell but here's the link to the FCC document:

http://assets.fiercemarkets.net/public/007-Telecom/verizon-sprint-swap.pdf

Is that just the closing of the previous transactions between Sprint and Verizon or a new transaction?

It's recent.  I just haven't found the time to finish my write up on the USCC, ATT, and VZW spectrum swaps of april / early may.

I think when Marcelo sees the numbers not working too well at the physical retail level, but much better on the online level, hopefully he'll change his mind about spending so much money on physical retail, and really focus that online.

Even groceries are getting more and more online nowadays and likely moving to a model with huge warehouses where people don't go shopping as often, saving money on gas, the environment, etc. All the reasons we here for why this is being so heavily promoted.

The one difference I have with this physical retail vs online shopping deal, is instead of warehouses, I'd like to see a convergence between physical warehousing and shopping where people still have the choice to shop amidst huge mega buildings, or go up to a counter to shop via a screen, smartphone, or preselect items at home to pick them up. Sprint and other carriers could be right up front digitally assisting purchases while able to make sales all at the same space.

Very nice! I think Tarek said these swaps will net Sprint a couple hundred millions as they had done/received the previous year.

"Couple hundred millions" what?   It won't give them new customers and it won't do anything for the bottom line.   All it does is allow them to use their spectrum more efficiently.

I'm glad to see the carriers at least working together on helping to widen spectrum for their services. Although, it would be good to know what the result totals of spectrum are now, not just what has been swapped/gained.

"Operating income is expected to be between $2 billion to $2.5 billion in fiscal year 2017. We expect non-cash gains from spectrum swaps in fiscal year 2017 similar to the $350 million we recognized in fiscal year 2016. As you know we exclude this non-cash spectrum gain from our adjusted EBITDA, but it does still impact our reported operating income just as it did last year"  source -- 1st Quarter call transcript.

Just have to find time to make it presentable. Maybe this weekend. ..

    • Has anyone experienced a ridiculous amount of difficulty with Google messages with RCS enabled?  It has been a train wreck for me for the past year so I now use WhatsApp.  That works very well for all of us.... Android and iOS.
    • Probably not worth the fiddling given that that's a few percent of the band. Also, if they really wanted to push my assumption is there are still guard bands in play for the n41 carriers so they could fit two "100 MHz" carriers into 194 MHz anyway. Looks like minimum guard band is less than 1 MHz and a 100 MHz channel is only 273 30 KHz resource blocks, which is a bit over 80 MHz total, so if they really wanted to pull another 5% or so capacity out they could.
    • Saw that for a while. Now back to n25 + n71 + n41-100Mhz + n41-90Mhz.
    • S23 and S24 (at least ultra versions) have 4xCA NR. I currently have n41+n41+n25+n71 most places I go.  I think select devices have 2xCA upload but I do not think it is in widespread use yet. CA is still mostly download focused.
    • If they use n41 + n41 2CA, people that are somewhat distant from the cell site will have an OK download but the upload will be a disaster.  Upload capability on b-41 was always a disaster on the old Sprint Network.   Now, with n25 + n41 combination, even the more distant users have a more decent upload.  I see n41 + n41 + n25 now with my S22 and I understand that we will see 4xCA with newer phones in the future.     I also see n41 + n41 + n71 sometimes too. Also some other combinations of 25, 41, 71.  I would think that eventually we will see AWS paired with n41 too.  What I am not sure of is ----  when I see 3xCA on my S22, I can see the 3 channels involved in the download but I am never sure just what I have on the upload. I do not think I have 3xCA on the upload.
