No real reason to for me so far.

It just appeared. No software update that I could tell. Sprint Zone app started updating and then the new app was there.

LG G6 has HPUE. Could be helpful?

Sprint is also doing 50% off on the LG G6 now ($14.75/Month for 24 Months) and including a free Google Home.

"My Sprint" App is nice on iOS. I'm sure it's an improvement on Android as well. Big step for Sprint to decouple the App and bring it to Google Play.

Seems ATT has made another good buy today

Sprint's spectrum argument keeps eroding. If they could have gotten the spectrum on air sooner sprint might have been able to fill "the fastest" network niche.

This is true. They should have been the fastest a long time ago with how much spectrum they have.

Hard to compare 2.5 to 29/39Ghz. This is def for hotspot situations, maybe stadium/events.

It even says in the article "virtual and augmented reality, telemedicine, autonomous cars, smart cities and more".

I'm most likely wrong but I doubt they would paid that much for stadium use.

The article already tells you what it's for and it doesn't scream "network wide deployment for use on your phone."

It is going to help ATT with keeping their average speed high. Further, I don't think ATT is going to bypass the methods Sprint to get more usability out of high band spectrum.

AT&T 29/39 GHz and "5g" deployment are years away.  Sprint 2.5 GHz is now, and is currently expanding, although much slower than most of us would like.

I see it as their new last mile broadband solution, as a replacement for VDSL or fiber or coax. Then they don't have to wire each house, especially in neighborhoods with all underground utilities.

It's probably cheaper to put a radio every so many utility poles and put a receiver on the outside of each house (similar to how an ONT is installed for fiber). Then it'll likely give you an Ethernet port inside that you plug your router into.

It would also likely work well for apartment complexes. No need to rewire. Makes it easier to compete with Comcast/Spectrum/etc.

I don't see this as a replacement for mobile broadband or wifi really. But it's pure speculation on my part.

Yes more capex. Band 41 should have been on every tower a long time again.

Same with US Cellular.  The longer they wait to hold, the less the company's worth.  Carriers are building over US Cellular's footprint and once that fully happens, I don't think they'll be able to compete and they'll have to sell off for cheap.

If that happens let's hope Sprint is the buyer. Their would be a fight between att and, Tmobile for uscc B12 and 5 spectrum.

U.S. Cellular just needs to realize that they can't keep charging VZW prices if they want to keep growing.

That's very true. I think uscc is pretty much slow cause they only have 5x5 on all bands. I think

The telecom industry has been awash in speculation about mergers and acquisitions even as a federal auction of airwaves licenses has kept the major players – Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Comcast and others – from talking with one another about such things.

The federal ban on these kinds of talks is expected to end April 19, according to BTIG Research analyst Walter Piecyk.

--> Sprint's Earnings Call is on May 3rd. Could we hear a surprise?

Probably not. I wonder who Sprint will merge with? I think Charter, Dish, or T-Mobile but T-Mobile prefers a cable company.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
