That's great for KC.  Doesn't do me or anyone else here in Denver a lick of good at games now does it?

Have you confirmed that VZW, AT&T, and T-Mobile are better?  Unless the other three operators have superior service at games in Denver, you cannot single out Sprint.  They may all suck -- because huge events at which almost everyone has a smartphone now are very difficult to serve adequately.  For data usage, stadiums should be supplying enterprise grade Wi-Fi.  That should be the primary solution.  Or sometimes you have to realize that you are there to watch the game, so you put your handset away.

Sorry for the basic question: What would he be using it for on 1900 MHz?

Depending upon what the device is, it could be affecting more than just Sprint's PCS 1900 MHz service.  To illustrate, in New York City, Sprint holds the PCS B block and PCS G block, which are at nearly opposite ends of the band, separated by at least 25 MHz.  Maybe the device is affecting only one or the other, but if it is affecting both, then the other PCS 1900 MHz licensees in the band likely are also affected.  But VZW, AT&T, and T-Mobile service may not have been affected to the same degree, or the other operators simply may not have noticed.

As for the man in question, similar situations have occurred in the past.  Two years ago, faulty fluorescent lighting in a business in San Antonio was causing jammer like interference to the AT&T band 17 LTE network in that area.  The business owner was similarly uncooperative with the FCC, seemingly trying to extort money from the lighting manufacturer or from AT&T in order to replace the lights.  That extortion tactic could be the gambit here, too.

Here is another more omnibus article on RF interference and FCC enforcement.  It is at the WSJ, so you may need a subscription or use the Google query workaround.

http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprints-claure-gives-himself-3-5-years-turnaround-after-1-year-job/2015-08-25

Marcelo is saying he gives himself 3 to 5 years to turn Sprint around. What happened to the 24 months of being no. 1 or 2 for the network?

That 3-5 might be in regards to customers, finances, branding etc.

Once the network is where it should be, its going to take time to regain lost subscribers, fix brand image, return to profitability etc.

I would speculate since the other three are not sitting idle, being number 1 or 2 is not a stationary target.  VZW, ATT and TMUS are upgrading their networks to be better as well.

Very true, well said.

EDIT: He is aiming for the network to be no. 1 or 2 in 12-24 months and within 3-5 years have Sprint profitable and have a good image again among consumers. (I'm speculating)

number 1 or 2 network will be a difficult goal to achieve, but sprint has the spectrum to make that goal... we will see how they execute, so far so good in my opinion, plenty of work left in fact it will be a never ending battle to get number 1-2 and maintain that level especially given sprints finances compared to VZW, ATT, and  TMUS.

We can already see that Sprint has maintained its #3 position in terms of network metrics. Despite its competitors massive network upgrades, Sprint has managed to keep up. They are by far the most improved carrier in the U.S. and if they are able to keep this momentum their network could easily be #1 or #2 in most metros within the given timeframe.

I agree they are most improved and well on their way to 1-2 in most metros, if sprint wants to kill it's bad image once and for all they need to be number 1-2 in most metros, and mid to large sized towns, airports, and interstate routes. They are well on the way to that goal. But it remains to be seen if they can keep, even accelerate this pacers time goes on, let's not forget as sprint gets better more people will join, sprint network is #3 right now but would it be if they had the number of subscribers that vzw or Att has? I am not trying to start a war here so don't attack me, just food for thought.

I see network improvements but I still hope Sprint is involved in next years auction. It doesn't have to be nationwide but strategically located rural/suburban areas to fill gaps and possibly areas where 800 can't be used like borders.

The surprising thing for me has been AT&T's relative decline compared to T-Mobile and Sprint. I could see  Sprint really challenging AT&T for #2 network on RootMetrics if Sprint can get their act together

Currently Sprint's upgrades are outpacing its subscriber growth by a large margin. The same cannot be said for other carriers. Not to mention, they also have a lot of room to grow with potentially have 6 B41 carriers running in some metros. That's more than enough for the amount of customers that VZW and AT&T have. However, by the time we reach that point, Sprint will probably get rid of Unlimited data in an effort to curb the growing data usage problem. Hopefully they get rid of overages too at that point.

800 can be used near borders, it just needs to be cleared with the government first and other countries.

Haha. Watch out because she mentions you a lot.

Delusional jealously. "She" has been spanked by DollarsnSense, John Connor, "Exodus" and many others alike many times over.

Compare the two briefly. AJ has years of experience (with fact, not trolling), factual arguments and even geographical knowledge. He has no need to deflect and launch ad hominem attacks, and even compliments some posts with humor. This is coupled with actual experience, not anecdotal "I get service in my apartment, city, and local highways, so if I can find 10 other people that agree with me I'm right" experience.

Sounds like a man vs a schoolgirl.

Basically, he is better in every regard than "her". Nor do I believe he, like others here, lives his life waking up every day worrying about doing damage control for a cellular carrier to fill a sorry-ass ego quota.

So yeah, if I had thousands of useless, unaccredited posts under a fake name, pretending to possess authenticity and authority, fighting tooth and nail for a long lost non-cause, I'd probably have penis envy of my superiors too.  :tu:

That is the trend going forward.  The NFL seems to be the most proactive on this front, mandating that teams and stadiums install enterprise grade Wi-Fi.  I am a bit surprised that many major conference universities are late on this one, as most have blanketed their campuses -- both indoor and outdoor -- with enterprise grade Wi-Fi.  But they may not have viewed doing so in athletic facilities as core to their academic mission.

800 will be able to be used in the border areas long before 600 will be ready to deploy, and have phones to support it.

Indeed, 600 MHz is the seeming oasis in the desert.  Or is it a mirage that continues to recede into the distance?

Auburn University does have enterprise grade Wi-Fi at the stadium but (as of last year) asked for a fee to access.  That may change this year since they are trying to make the stadium game experience better.  With the new video board, all they need to install La-Z-Boy recliners, serve beer and nachos and it would feel like you were sitting at home.

Your last sentence could not be more on point.  These major sports venues will learn -- otherwise, many fans will stop buying tickets and watch at home.  The HDTV experience is great, the food and drink are a lot cheaper, and the parking is free.

You think so? Average attendance at Yankee Stadium goes up more than it goes down, and they do not have free WIFI available for fans.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
