LG G2 Users Thread!

Anyone that calls me while I'm connected to LTE (band 25 is the only one up on my area). It rings once on their end and then forwards them to my voicemail. Never ever get an indication of having received a call on my end unless they leave a voicemail. Then I get a random vm icon with no explanation.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

I just got the phone back yesterday. LG replaced the board chipset because when I received calls the phone would ignore my attempts to answer it. Outgoing was fine, incoming couldn't be answered.

By chance are you using an airave where you are receiving your calls?

Cross your fingers but I think this might actually solve the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/general/fix-lte-issues-zvd-t2839374

This is different than adjusting the LTE scan timer. And when i went to set it 3 was actually the prepopulated value and not the 3000 shown as the current value. I would be curious to know the value of the bsr timer prior to the ZVD update. I saw a screen capture of another phones data engineering screen and it showed 3 for the bsr timer.

I will be doing driving around today so I will see how it behaves switching from 3G to LTE.

This is an easy fix that seemed to work for me!

Checked my wife's G2 that is on ZVC and it's set to 3.

I checked mine. Before clicking edit the value showed 3000,clicking edit and the box only had 3 in it. Wonder if some bug was causing the triple zero? Anyway I set it to 3 I'll gauge how it goes. I've been getting dumped to 3G ever since the kitkat (zvc) update though. Prior to that I could hang on to LTE even at 115-118dBm. In home penetration isn't good at my house, but I've usually got 2-3 Bars sitting on the front porch, again though. Before kitkat I kept LTE throughout the whole home.

This will be an interesting test.

I think the setting change worked for me and I am not seeing any adverse effect on my battery.

The places I went yesterday I was consistently connecting to LTE without having to flip airplane mode.

Even at my house my phone is ignoring the airave and connecting to LTE and CDMA 800 again.

This setting must have been inadvertently changed with the update. Hopefully they with the next update LG fixes the issue for general users who don't know how to change the setting.

When I enlarge words while reading an article in my browser it just makes the words bigger, it does redo the margins so it fits on my screen, not even on chrome.  My HTC did that.  Is there some setting I need to use?

It's the browser.  Dolphin and Opera I think both have that feature.  I think the feature is called Auto-Fit pages.

Opera has some of the best Text wrapping, Dolphin is pretty good too. Google is being a slacker when it comes to making their apps user friendly.

I stay irritated that on YouTube you have to pretty much sit there and toggle play/pause on the video to get it to prebuffer. Which only goes so far. I don't know why they refuse to let the app buffer videos in the background, via a sticky notification in the notification panel or something to be certain it doesn't time out. I'm honestly surprised they fixed the banner ad problem. On the g2 if you were watching a video and the banner ad popped, so did your notification and navbar. The x to close the ad was underneath the navbar though and couldn't be pressed.

Lol don't even get me started on hangouts.

No I stay on 3g to long I have to keep switching to airplane mode to stay on LTE

a ) What software version are you on?

b ) Did you read any of the most recent pages of this thread?

c ) You can't effect 3G to LTE with band priorities

Here is the version I'm on

Here is my LTE engineering screen

P.s. I disabled LTE because I'm connected to my airave

Ok, see the last 5 pages of the thread for "possible" fix. No guarantees that it will 100% work but seems like it is working.

OK

Well, now that my teams ZVC rom is out I decided to tot and move on to ZVD and I did experience the same "stuck on 3G" issue. I checked the settings and sure enough, it *looked* like 3 but was clearly not right. Changing it to 3 and saving/rebooting made a world of difference.

I can wait and thanks for the heads up.

I received the G2 back from LG yesterday. LG installed a new screen (they said the old one was defective) and a new chipset. The device was on ZVC again when i received it back and had an LG splash screen instead of Sprint. The GPS now works. LG nicked up the silver band around the side of the device and didn't return my factory box. The entire LG repair experience was horrible. You get a call center in India when setting up the return. I had an extremely difficult time trying to understand what the relresentative was saying. I'm not happy at all about losing my factory box. When i go to sell the device it will be worth less without the original box.

After reinstalling everything the LTE symptoms were the same. Fall back to 3 and stay there

I checked the BSR timer and it was set to 3000. I changed that to 3 and had better luck switching between 3G and LTE.

It appears that the ZVD update does indeed cause the LTE issues. The BSR timer appears to correct the issue.

Now an array is down on the Shentel tower near my house for data speed upgrades, so I can't really check out band 26.

This entire experience with multiple calls to LG for the original problem of the GPS repair and having to deal with their inadequate call center is enough to make me think twice about a future purchase of an LG product.

Thanks to all on S4GRU and XDA who posted about the BSR timer issue.

Out of curiosity, how bad was your GPS?

Out of curiosity, how bad was your GPS?

My GPS could be anywhere from a block off to 40 miles.  It finally wouldn't receive a signal at all - that's when I sent it in to LG for repair.  LG marked up the small silver band around the phone when they opened it, but at least they did correctly fix the GPS.  It now instantly locks on and shows correct location..

Yeah, that sounds like what I'm experiencing. GPS takes 1-2 minutes to get a fix even on "High Accuracy" mode; this is also outdoors and with a clear sky.

I sent my phone in once already to their repair shop in Texas to fix the GPS, but they sent it back claiming "no defects found". I'm gonna send it in again and hope they finally fix it this time. Like you, I had the same experience with their customer support and this will probably be my last LG phone too.

My GPS actually got to the point under clear skies where it would take forever to lock on, if it ever did.  Finally it died altogether.

Good luck sending yours back.  The service center is in Texas, but call center in India.  Makes life wonderful!

At least in my case, they got it working spectacularly.  LG actually installed an entire new chip.  Obviously they have problems with many of these...
