Sprint Stock Good Idea?

No, for me to break even it has to go over $4.32 a share. But by that time, I may just keep my Sprint stock and go for double or nothing, lol.

Josh's trading fees are high because he bought a single share of Sprint stock at Big Larry's Payday Loans, Bail Bonds, and Stock Brokerage.

It's not just Sprint's stock that's up. Clearwire is having a good two days as well. It's up almost 6% this morning. If you managed to buy any of the stock at under a $1 you're doing alright.

No, I should have bought $70 worth of Sprint stock all at once and then I would have only paid one trading fee of $9.95. Then my break even point would have been much lower. I think I'm going to hold out a little while longer to see how close I can get to breaking even between both stocks and maybe even getting a little bit ahead of that. I only have $12.00 to go before I break even on my original investments.

Now this is funny as hell, LOL.

I really considered buying a bunch of clearwire stock the other day when it was like $.86 a share but I chickened out. Wish I could go back in time but at least I am doing good with what I have in sprint. I was gonna sell the shares I have the other day when I saw the price dropping but honestly I simply forgot to do so and didn't remember until yesterday. But by that time though the stock had rallied to over $4 per share so its a good thing I forgot.

You wish you could go back in time? I had the opportunity to buy into Apple at under $10.00/share. If I had, I'd be much better off financially right now, lol.

Yeah, but CLWR has take beating yesterday and at the open this morning. It had gotten to about $1.78/share. It opened at $1.53 this morning. Down about 6%.

Wow! Sprint is soaring and it appears that it's either from the official announcement of the Photon Q or the Virgin Mobile FreeFest concert, or both!

Neither. Those kinds of announcements have trivial effect on stock price.

I think it has to do with all the talk of Sprint lately from numerous sources within the last few days/week. Investors are noticing the trend and those that didn't jump when the stock was lower are now doing so.

Nice seeing this trend. Go Sprint.

Now I'm curious to know whats causing the gain.

The market is bullish on Sprint because it heard the rumor that you might be headed down to your broker, Wild Bill's Gun, Tackle, and Investments, to buy up another single share. Wall Street wants to get in on the action before you corner the market on Sprint.

First of all, I own 10 shares, and I used Sharebuilder to buy. And I'm trying to get out of the market because I need the extra cash right now.

Josh, I am aware of all of that, but you do not seem to take good natured teasing very well.

Regardless, you seem to have chronic financial difficulties. So, please take a recommendation to heart. You should not have bought any stock and should not buy anymore stock until you are on solid financial footing. Ten or so shares of stock are not going to improve your finances greatly. But they could hurt your wallet if the stock tanks, and they take up liquidity that you may need to make ends meet.

I'm sorry. Normally i take good natured teasing very well. I don't know what came over me. As for financial straits, summer is always bad. I think the heat fries peoples brains and makes it difficult for them to decide if they want a website or not.

dont spend it all in one place.

It'll all go to my phone bill so i have extra spending cash for new clothes in September, lol.

You've held on this long, why not?

I bought in at $3/share so I'm smiling. Of course it's just a few shares so it's not like I'm retiring.

I would say it depends on how many shares you bought. If you had just a few then I would say just sell them but if you have a lot then I say hold on to them and monitor their stock prices as often as possible before you sell.

i have 633 shares :-/ i will most likely hold onto them to see how high it goes, but the moment it starts falling back down, SELL SELL SELL! just glad that i will at the least have a chance of getting my money back, instead of taking the huge loss it would have been when they hit $2.10

Then you're best bet is to figure what the minimum price is that you want the stock to hit and put in a stop limit order. If it keeps going up cancel and put in a new stop limit order at whatever new minimum you want to set.

yeah, i will do that, just figuring out what that amount is without being greedy but not screwing myself over either if it jumps over it..... i hate the stock market, as soon as these sprint shares are gone i'm done with it :)

On 10 shares I'm already $20 ahead, so I'm happy. I can't wait for it to go over $6/share so I can get my original investment back, and maybe a few dollars more.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
