HTCandroid
Alright so the site was actually back up and running after only a few hours. However, accounting to SignalCheck hen connected to 3g it says eHRPD instead of Evdo.
CAREND
Looks like there is some more testing going on in HB by GWC. Picked up a little lte but I'll map more later.
Romeo
Looks like there is some more testing going on in HB by GWC. Picked up a little lte but I'll map more later. That's true, I usually get a 4g lte signal while I'm bella terra, but it's not a strong signal. I even checked on the tower and they haven't installed the antennas yet. JosefTor
I heard that somewhere in the forums I can find a map showing all the cell phone towers in an area regardless of if they have been upgraded. Does anyone know where the one for Orange County is? I would like to see it to see how far Sprint has come in our area and how many more to go there are. Any help is appreciated! JosefTor
Thank you! Very interesting results. The two sites my phone connects to (per signal check) at my house are not actually on that map. Could this be the antennas reporting a wrong location? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
bookertdub
Was at Angel Stadium last night, sitting in left field first row, green shirt, and man inside the stadium. I was only able to get 1xRTT. I don't know if it's because of my seating location or what, but service was brutal last night. I wasn't even getting eHRPD. Weird thing was, as soon as I entered the parking lot, I was getting eHRPD. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
HarryChimp71
It's not your seat location. I go to at least 20 games a season. During the first two months or so of the season LTE blanketed outside the stadium and the signal could be acquired in most levels. The Club Level (300 sections) was the only area where LTE did not penetrate. Somewhere around midseason LTE became non-existant. 3g speeds remained tolerable (i.e. approx 1mb up/down). Then, around early August I noticed 3g speeds were slowing. 1x is the only consistent signal inside the stadium. The last two homestands I've been force roaming my phone on Verizon. Their 3g is solid and allows my phone to send texts. Unfortunately, Sprint has taken a big step back in the Anaheim areas around Angel Stadium (and Disneyland). optimummind
Weird thing happened. Lost LTE at the home area (Batavia & Fletcher) but gained LTE at work (Tustin & Katella). LTE speedtest at work was excellent. 20mbps down, 8mbps up.
deep
I woke up this morning and look at my phone and guess what: I have 4G LTE. Finally!!!. Did a speed test and pulled down 14000kbps. This is near Lampson and Dale
bookertdub
Such a bummer to hear that HarryChimp71. It sounded so promising at the beginning of the season. I guess it's just a part of the growing pains, that I went through nearly a year earlier with Sprint in San Diego. CAREND
I feel like there are several reasons causing Orange County to seem delayed. Very few new sites are being LTE accepted now... Depends on the city. Also, i noticed with the new information being a premier sponsor gets you, there is also the abundance of wimax towers that need to be either converted or decommissioned for redundancies. nexuss4g
Would love to see the Wimax tower behind my office building converted to NV. Services is limited and sometimes unusable inside the building. The closest tower is a mile away. Depends on the city. I have two towers closest to me, both are half a block from each other and one is 3g accepted and the other looks to be redundent. But who knows since no matter what my signal is still crap, for now. The site at the Fullerton airport and the one on gilbert and malvern show this.
deep
Just checked and the tower at Lampson and Western is 4G accepted. I'm picking up 4G from that tower. There are two towers that are closer to me that are not 4G yet. Can't wait for those two to be accepted.
optimummind
Feeling pretty good & content right now. I finally get LTE at both the home and work areas and the speeds are great! 20Mbps at work and 17Mbps in the home area. I hope Sprint keeps building its network faster and maintain it well. I was thinking about ditching Sprint at the end of my first contract with Sprint in May of '14 but I guess I won't anymore. So glad I found S4Gru - not only did I learn a lot about networking but I feel more informed and less frustrated about Sprint's timeline and progress thanks to the Sponsor info.

rickerwdi
It looks like it's not all of Southern Cali that gets screwed, but it does look like all of Orange County after all. And the SE corner of LA County. It might not all be because of the IBEZ. There may be another SMR license holder in the area too. Seems like I remember AJ mentioning this before. In the graphic below, you can see a map of the LA Metro market. The red sites will not receive any 800 MHZ service (CDMA or LTE). There are some areas here and there that will not get 800 for other reasons. But you can see all of SE LA County doesn't receive 800. That has to be either from the IBEZ or because of possibly another license holder in Orange County. Robert Robert, has this map changed at all? Could you post one of the North LA market in the sponsors section possibly? I'm just curious as to why the outskirts of LA are not getting 800 Mhz and if my area will get it. The coverage is so poor in some of the red dotted areas that this is surprising to see. Specially by Gorman and the fringes of Ventura Country and LA county. JosefTor
Lol... I just drive from OC to Vegas. Last year I used to be able to stream videos. Now for the entire road I never once got a speedtest over 0.02mbs. My oh my. Hopefully these are all microwave sites that can be upgraded quickly. JosefTor
Are there any Aliso Viejo folks in here? I live there and the upgrades appear pretty complete around the town centers but the LTE only seems to cover like 5 percent of the area. Are there some ghost towers hiding that we don't know of? Do the hills really make the LTE signal only travel about 100 feet? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
JosefTor
For people who have S4GRU sponsor access... iansilv
So what is the deal in South OC and Ladera Ranch? Coverage seems to have gotten worse! I cannot get LTE in any reliable capacity near my home, in the middle of Ladera Ranch, and the area is supposed to have two fully working, upgraded LTE towers right now- am I wrong, or aren't both Ladera Ranch towers now full LTE?
