200 sites? Wow. That has to cover quite a bit of the total sites in the market. Sounds like back haul is pretty behind if they're mainly doing 3G upgrades. Will be cool to see another LTE site go live. I'm wondering if the site on Taylor Rd in Gahanna will be one of them. Lot of work going on in that area lately.

 

They're likely pushing hard on 3G due to hand-off issues between the legacy Motorola equipment and the NV Samsung equipment. They don't play nice together and resulted in major drop call issues in the Chicago area.

Yes, if you've been following the thread, there is indeed an active LTE site in the area. Members here have been tracking it closely.

Looks like I'm giving up on my EVO... One last step to try, run stock ruu and see if it fixes my lte radio....

 

I've tried everything to get it to work and with lte starting spread soon, I need a working lte phone.

 

Going to try and trade it in for anything with working radio.

You gotta do all your troubleshooting on complete stock everything. Firmware/Baseband PRL everything. Then Try to obtain LTE. If still no go tell them you went to an announced LTE city and couldn't get a connection. If you tell them you can't connect to Morse road they're going to tell you to get out of their face until Columbus is formally announced.

For what its worth a lot of the forecasted NV 3G dates have remained the same which is looking to have about 200 complete by the end of August. To add, the forecasted 4G stands at about 30 sites complete thru September but has continuously gone up. Thats just the reporting as of now and it can all change. The sites again are as described in the past, mostly outskirts of the Market with the southside of Columbus littered with NV 3G, so control any over optimistic dreams of LTE inside the outerbelt anytime soon.

 

If I can have the 3G that NV is capable of I will not complain. I can watch Slingplayer, Netflix and YouTube with a NV 3G connection.

Have you done a full flash and full ##786 I think it is.. Whatever the one is that even wipes the phone number.

 

I still think it is software..

I did flash all radios, full 786 and had to go through activation again.... My last hope but don't want to do it is run factory ruu and uproot and go back 100% stock.

It's 100% the phone... I've forced airplane mode 1 million times, sat next to another person with EVO lte and they had to swith airplane mode to get lte. I've tried about 5 times in the last week next to the tower, down the road, etc...

 

 

It's always been reported that the EVO lte radio is crap, mine is broken.... Lol

They're also going to push a PRL to prioritize CDMA 800 1xA so phones will connect to SMR service on the new NV sites instead of having the nightmare of handing off between Samsung & legacy Motorola gear (which is no bueno).

Nope. 4G is always first and if there is no need to cluster launch 3g then they'll do 3g/4g for acceptances. Notice my market and how almost every full build accepted is for LTE and the only ones not are a cluster in an area where it's obvious that backhaul is not available yet.

Folks its going to be a VERY interesting month for the Columbus market. I have a very reliable source on when and what towers are going live this month providing the dates don't get pushed out for some reason.

 

 

Can confirm, seen a lot of July dates for LTE on individual cascades. Roughly 30 and all on the outside edges of the market.

Fine with me, I spend nearly all of my time outside the outerbelt.  Mostly between westerville area, ranging to Mount Vernon.

For now, I at least hope they hit NV 3g up in the Mount Vernon, centerburg area, and turn on the 800 mhz magic real soon.   That will make calls more practical at least.

Doesn't make sense to me either.  Must be some backhaul issues in these rural sites IMHO.

 Without directly looking at the map i do recall almost all of the 30 or so scheduled LTE sites also being 3G in the same time frame as well if not at the same time. They are all undoubtedly launching in clusters tho, zero doubt to that. So unless they do some more random location signing off on, i think its safe to say that most the sites launched and signed of on from here on out will be done so in clusters.

Is the one on Taylor Rd in Gahanna part of the 30 LTE sites? Also curious about the one on Lancaster Ave in Reynoldsburg. Both outside the outerbelt. The latter has backhaul there, I believe. The former has been having a lot of utility work around it, and I'm thinking it at least has backhaul to the street available. Not sure if they've run yet to the tower.
