For everyone who is starting to connect to the LTE, are you having a lot of dropbacks to 3G? I will notice it will lock the 4G but in about 2-3 minutes it drops back to 3G. I am using a Galaxy Nexus LTE and just wanted to see if anyone else is seeing similar. I am hopeful that this is just a matter of tower tuning and not an issue with this phone.

 

I've been having that issue in the KC area for the last two days. I'll find a LTE signal, but it'll only last a minute tops before it drops back to 3G, and I'm not even moving. I'm on the EVO LTE, glad to hear that it's not just me. Hopefully it just means the system isn't 'live' yet.

Yes that's how it's been all day for me on my SGS3. I have a friend on an EVO 4G (OG) in Houston that said her network has been wonky all afternoon, and she can receive but not send texts. She could not make phone calls either. Wonder if the LTE towers had anything to do with this?

I got dropped back to 3G on a tower that was LTE earlier.

I've also been having a lot of trouble with 3G that started right after LTE started showing up. I've had Sprint for 2 years in this area, and have never had issues staying connected to 3G, or even slow speeds. I could almost always get around 1mbps, sometimes close to 2. Today, the fasted I got was 0.15mbps. Voice seems to be working fine, though I've only had to make 3 calls.

 

Been getting results like this or worse most of the day. Notice upload failed completely. Sometimes download fails too.

I am in Mansfield, Tx which is South of Arlington. So far I have had LTE pop up 3 times, but it doesn't last long before going back to 3g. So we shall see

I suspect they're just running their final tests before they go live.

I did some speed tests after work today in Overland Park, KS and my fastest download speed was 15.28Mbps fastest upload 12.79Mbps and best ping was 62ms.

 

 

I really hope we see a steady stream of towers going live. They have some pretty big holes to fill in this market but at least we are getting to use whats available now.

Does your EVO connect automatically? I still have to force mine to connect, and then it drops the signal right off again. Even when I'm right next to one of the supposedly live towers in the OP and Olathe area.

Yep, it connected all on its own. In fact on thursday I didn't know sprint was flipping switches... So I'm in my car eating lunch steaming a podcast to my cars radio. Now nothing seemed different to me or anything. When all of a sudden I get a call from my wife and I pick up the phone and I see the 4g icon at the top and started freaking out. You can imagine how that conversation went.

Im all over San Antonio all day everyday. Ive been seeing LTE come alive today all over town.

These are some of the speed Ive gotten so far.

 

34.06 Mbps down ----- 12.80 Mbps up

27.62 Mbps down ------ 11.74 Mbps up

26.07 Mbps down ------ 8.97 Mbps up

 

My Average out of seven test is

 

18.65 Mbps down ------ 9.71 Mbps up

 

These were all test in the Universal City, Selma, Schertz area

 

Im fairly impressed.

The one thing im not to happy about is that for some reason I dont get LTE at my home. I dont know why because Im only about a mile and a half away from a LTE tower.

My tower is acually a water tower and Im beginning to think that maybe only one side of that water tower has LTE. If go to the other side of the tower in question I have LTE, I go to the opposite side and I get 3g. Im kind of dissapointed in this.

 

Oh, also the fact that I must manually cycle my EVO from CDMA to LTE to get the LTE connection. I have to do this everytime I drop LTE signal. The EVO will not reconnect on its own.

 

I hope sprint/HTC does something about this connection issue very soon.

People on xda in the GS3 forums say DFW is lighting up. But I haven't seen it yet. 23mbps+ tho.

The official date is the 15th (Sunday), so you can assume it's going to be a bit choppy until then and then even for the first few days while they get everything worked out.

Wow, those speeds are pretty awesomely high, especially compared to what others seem to have been getting in the Kansas Market for example. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that a lot of people seem to be using the S3 in the Kansas market and you were using an EVO?

Peak speeds at launch will be 37 Megabit/s down and 18 Megabit/s upstream. Don't expect those speeds as those are under perfect conditions. You'll likely see peaks of 25 Megabit/s down and 10 Megabit/s up. Remember that the market hasn't been launched and won't be launched until tomorrow so the speeds you saw where probably due to something not being set up completely. It could possibly be that the tower was unblocked for testing and they where transferring large amounts of data on that tower.
