Maybe they just don't want people up upgrade super cheap on every other black Friday? Nahh people wouldn't take advantage of them like that. I thought I read something about being able to buy out the rest of your contract somewhere. I'll never be able to find it.

Isn't the $50 phone new customers only? Anyway I can't vote. I have the Note 2 already.

Upgrades After LTE is launched and the masses arrive
DaQue replied to DaQue's topic in General Topics
Ok thanks. I know they got a LTE RRU up there somewhere so I guess they could add another LTE carrier on NV complete site pretty easy. This is great when the time comes for more carriers we won't need another 2 year build out. -
Upgrades After LTE is launched and the masses arrive
DaQue replied to DaQue's topic in General Topics
Nice! Thanks for the info. I take it the RRUs are band specific and the 4 carriers can all be on one 1900MHz RRU. Is that 4 LTE carriers or do you have to use one for the 3G/1x/voice? -
I know this is a couple years out but I am curious and it keeps me busy while I wait. As I understand it Sprint is rolling out G block LTE in the NV build out with a 5x5 format. Sooner or later the masses will come and more capacity will be needed to keep the service top tier. With the RRU's and upgraded cell site gear make it a lot easier to add additional 5x5 ore even maybe 10x10? Will new gear have to go up the tower or is it mostly add new cards in the cabinets and some programing/configuration? I hope the RRU's handle the whole PCS band.Is there tons of paper work and permits to file?

I had the non LTE EVO 4G and the note 2 lasts much longer on a charge than the evo with a huge aftermarket battery that made the phone about an inch thick.

Estimated time of 800 mhz rollout?
DaQue replied to nova46's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
Robert beat me to it by a minute or two. Sometime next year 800Mhz LTE devices will start showing up mid to late in the year I think if I remember Robert right. By the time 800 LTE is rolled out well you will most likely be wanting an Iphone 6 or the new iPhone anyway. I have come to the conclusion that a phone is only worth keeping till your contract is up. -
Its been less than a month, it only feels like a year. I don't seem to wait very well. I hope some of these start popping up in the update lists soon. I guess the middle of December is more realistic that would give them a month of work and a month of waiting on stuff. That aways seems to happen no matter how well you plan. That lady on the pink motorcycle makes it look so easy.

Nope, thanks for doing it. I think for what I do your average 1.9Mbps would be enough to keep me happy. I really don't see the need for super fast speeds they don't want you file sharing or download 20Gbyte games for the pc. That being said I sure will enjoy super fast speeds if/when I get them.

Did your 3G get a lot better? Is it over 1Mbps almost all the time?

(UPDATED) Sprint-USCC spectrum deal: Sprint gets 20 MHz broader in the "City of Broad Shoulders"
DaQue commented on WiWavelength's blog entry in The Wall
Thanks i Just now found the answer and was going to edit my post It was in the wall post a while back about the note 2 (my phone) I think its a typical phone. CDMA1X + EV-DO band classes 0, 1, 10 (i.e. CDMA1X + EV-DO 850/1900/800) LTE band 25 (i.e. LTE 1900; PCS A-G blocks) LTE 5 MHz FDD carrier bandwidth -
I have had ehrpd ever since I got the Note 2 on launch day In St Peters MO. I don't expect LTE any time soon but its nice to know at least one small part of the LTE puzzle is in place. It will happen before LTE hits an area much like birth happens before death.

1xA data looks a lot like bigfoot and like the yeti little is known of its habbits in the presence of EVDO... <another fail humor attempt if you couldn't tell> 1xA data is really slow compared to 3G. You usually only use it if there is not 3G available for whatever reason. I think its basically the same as one voice channel but used for your data needs instead of a digitized voice call. Both are really just data. That's about all I think I know on the subject. Trying to make up for the yeti answer above. -
Network Vision and LTE deployment strategy
DaQue replied to rwhittaker13's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
All I can say is hang in there if you can. If you need to jump ship we all would understand and there is no rule about never coming back if you do. I almost went to T-Mobile for a couple years (one phone contract cycle) but decided to live with the way 3G is now because I think a year from now Sprint will be the better choice. I am uninformed on how the other carries are and their plans but I sure like the upgrade every cell part of Sprint NV. It gets less bragging rights now but the future looks bright if you can stick it out or come back. Joplin is announced (so Missouri? hope/pray) but it seems like nothing is happening and St Louis/St Peters will never launch so I fell your pain too. -
You get a pop up notification when the update is available? Does it change the version of Android shown? Im on 4.1.1.

Great job. Do the phones shipping today that are LTE have a radio that will work with the added spectrum? -
Two guys in baseball caps were seen looking up at a tower somewhere near Joplin. LTE must be coming.

The Myan calendar end Dec. 12th the apocalypse... LTE must be coming... Dec. 13th

I'm not sure but I don't think it's that they chose a before b but that they chose all 38000 and are doing them as the backhaul etc can get done. Its not so such you have to wait for some place to get done before your area starts. Something permits whatever holding it up and at least something is being done somewhere rather than waing on doing a more desirable city to be able to start work.
-
Sure glad I didn't jump ship to Tmobile.... I never say this coming. Am I the only one blind sided by this?
-
Hmmm.... Can more users get ok ( over 5Mbps ) on 2 5x5 than a 10x10 or does it work out the same with the 10 just slowing dow to add users. Ignoring sigal strength.

Quesion on this for a Note 2 user in STL will this effectively double the number of users that could get full speed data or would it require a new phone with another PCS band in it. Hope S4GRU will do s wall post on what it means to users in both 10 an 20 dandwidth areas. Edit: also will the panels that were skeduled long ago to go into these areas fully suport all the new bandwidth or will we have to wait for another round of upgrades?
