  1. Iusacell is the T-Mobile of Mexico, good in the city and not much rural coverage. Now that would be sweet especially since NII is currently in bankruptcy. NII has currently a market cap of $12 mil. This would open a lot of cross border options again, much like Nextel used to have.
  2. FreedomPOP is transitioning already and started to sell LTE equipment. Fire sale on wimax. Netzero, who knows... Karma, who cares... Clear, many would like to know.
  3. Is there a number available how many Huawei radios / sites are still on air? What is the replacement priority for Sprint to comply with the .gov?
  4. Mike, I am very sure I am pulling data off a 8T8R running B41 equipment tower. I am until tomorrow in Las Vegas and Sprint has been very busy deploying 8T8R radios. I just found a couple of new towers just came online this weekend. I have to disappoint you, but Sprint is using 310 120 for B41 in Las Vegas too. There is no Clearwire ID and everything runs on the same ID. I think I had posted a screenshot a couple of weeks back of a test tower but it seems as all their B41 towers run in Las Vegas on 310 120 which makes sense.
  5. Take a trip to San Jose and you see a lot around 85/87 to the 280/680 etc. Downtown SJ has a lot of very fast B41 love from converted Clearwire sites.
  6. I have to agree, Sprint needs the customers and the current Wimax subs are not motivated to switch considering that there is no alternative in mobile broadband. Freedompop is about to close on the one million accounts mark and these customers are 95% on Wimax. FP actually makes money. Not sure how Sprint is counting these subs because Wimax (clear) had still about 1.3 million customers active. They may or may not or just transition to LTE. I would expect Sprint to offer current Clear subs LTE modems and special plans to recapture as many as possible, much like Sprint did with Nextel subs.
  7. Yes, like Las Vegas which has is one of the markets ran old Motorola Wimax equipment. All the new B41 deployment is on the new 8T8R radio.
  8. Nextel used to be real good in San Diego and I hope Sprint can resolve the issues with Mexico soon
  9. I noticed that LTE Discovery and SignalCheck seem to have a problem identifying B41 deployments that run on 8T8R's. Both show B25 even if you're connected to B41. Is there a fix in the works?
  10. I found this today: http://www.kval.com/news/local/Cell-tower-fire-near-Thurston-High-sends-up-smoky-plume-275018241.html *Not Sprint!
  11. Could it be that Sprint moved some of the Wimax spectrum in Las Vegas to pair more LTE spectrum together on B41?
  12. I found a lot of towers around the strip and the northern part of the city and only a handful are on air with slower as expected speeds.Sprint has been busy putting them up but it would be nice to allow Joe Consumer on the network too. How long does that take? I have seen the first 8t8r deployments in March and now there is still not much going on. Sprint should also light up some of the B25 towers (around CSN) that are currently off air.
  13. This is so odd, because some of the old B41 sites that I found earlier are now offline and not broadcasting, others finally showed up. Coverage maps are still not matching real coverage
  14. What are the speeds you're seeing in SD on 8T8R?
  15. I will stop on my way back to California if I can. Still, Idk why the B41 speed seems to be limited to 30MB down.
  16. I made it to Las Vegas last night and Sprint has been very quick to show LTE coverage where no coverage will be found. They increased the the power a little on the site in Primm, NV and it almost reaches Jean, NV which is not currently LTE. Sprint's map shows the area covered.Tower in Jean has been upgraded but not active. Further north in Sloan, no LTE. Entering the city on I-15 NB, you start LTE coverage at St. Rose Parkway. Arounbd the Silverton Casino you're able to connect to B41 sites, which are NOT Clearwire conversions as the old Wimax network runs on Motorola gear. Downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Street) has also very nice LTE B41 coverage. Speeds are a little disappointing considering that I experienced 70MB down in San Jose just last weekend. Las Vegas seems to be capped at 30MB down. Not sure if that will change or why speeds are so slow. Some of the B25/B41 towers that are ready are not active yet because you see panels ready and equipment in place but Sprint has not activated them. I hope this will change soon.
  17. I just asked myself, why MetroPCS and Cricket had such a strong network build in the area. I used to roam on both networks but that seems to be history now. There is not much data in a lot of areas and all you see is CDMA. Not even a bliss of 1x. Yes coverage has been better as a couple of years ago but they should get the MetroPCS/Cricket locations and Co-lo. Driving for 5 hours plus and you can't check your emails is so 1999 I love to stream music because all you have is redneck or mexican radio stations in the area. But even Verizon dropps more down to 3G as it used to do in the past. It seems like Verizon's network starts to get really over used. There is a lot of confusion out there. I think it was a mistake of stating that only five cities get Tokio style broadband and the rest is more or less a value branded market. Better making it real clear, yes we will be the best but we're rolling some markets out sooner as others.
  18. Bakersfield to Los Banos, some islands with barely LTE coverage. You should look at the Sprint coverage maps. Idk why Sprint was never able to build out the network in the area like MetroPCS or Cricket. I know CDMA 800 and LTE band 26 will help but it is still a pain.
  19. It would be real important for Sprint to finally start providing coverage in Central California along the Interstate 5. I took the road yesterday and it was so painful because there wasn't really any data coverage at times.
  20. Now there is a lot of talk by some carriers to offer Multicast services. Could Sprint utilize the wimax network for this too, if they move the current customers off the network?
  21. I rather see Carly switch services... Have you see Marcelo, seriously I don't need to look at this on TV.
  22. Sprint goes agency shopping. http://www.adweek.com/news/advertising-branding/sprint-looks-new-creative-lead-agency-159842
  23. Nextel had a special Disney Network deployed but that has been taken down and not replaced There could be a cluster because I have seen a couple of Ericsson Trucks in Tustin today working on some sites. Not sure that they will due the upgrade but I have to wait until I see the G2 of my sister to register the difference
  24. The area around the park used to be very well covered by Nextel especially since Disney used to be a big Nextel customer. Sprint lost that contract and they need to install a DAS system at the park or launch 800LTE
  25. I am sure Son studied T-Mobile's books very carefully and is now able to make better decisions how to fight them. SSon can use that inside knowledge to Sprint's advantage
