  1. and again (like the Note 3 I believe) pricing higher than the competition... why do they do this? I am working on getting my mom one of these phones -- would've been easier to sell it to her at the same price ATT has it for... I might just wait a bit and see what Amazon or Wirefly drop it down to.
  2. No set number... To see how your market is doing browse Sensorly or become a sponsor... The NV complete maps are very very cool... Edit: no carrier waits until 100% to launch... They really never get to 100%. Always upgrading... Sprints is slower because it is a ground up rebuild...
  3. The "turning on of the towers" does not happen due to an announcement -- they have been "turning them on" daily for weeks now and will continue to do so - they announce a community as "live" when a percentage of the population in that community can get LTE -- I think I read here that it is 40%... so your house is not in that 40% -- but if you follow the market NV updates you will see that in the SC market (your market) they have been accepting 5 to 10 sites (towers) nearly everyday in your area... so be patient... it will be there soon.
  4. Could this be an issue where the 700 LTE of Verizon had no problems with the building but the 1900 LTE of Sprint is being blocked by the building? If so, 800 LTE should even the game up, mostly -- but that is probably still a ways away (and you would need a tri-band phone or iPhone 5S/C to receive it when it does come)...
  5. That is great... they get my GMOs built up here and move that our way it will be like a whole new network for me. I also noticed they they did the 3G side on a ton of sites in the Charlotte area on the last update, too... so that half of the network should be good now too (oddly the only thing that is still 4G only is that within the freeway beltway)...
  6. As mentioned, in the MB market.. Tons of upgrades going on, and I am sure that is the blame... They are really going crazy with the 4G in your area right now. You should totally consider a donation and check out the maps.. There is at least one other person from Jacksonville lurking around in there... Otherwise, you can check out others work on Sensorly.com/map under sprint 4g (and possibly add to it if you have an LTE android phone)...
  7. Lame. You are speaking from a commission standpoint.... Was just browsing around on Sprint.com a few minutes ago and this $49 tablet is advertised ALL OVER their website now -- with the plans starting "at $5" on every one of the ads (and it does NOT say "online only")... so I would not classify that as an "old" plan. Now a useless one it is (25mb???)... I am pondering getting a tablet for my wife and this $49 deal is tempting to me -- but I am even more tempted by the free data for life on the un-carrier plan on you know who with an iPad Air (but the upfront cost -- or monthly payment plan -- is tough to chew on that)...
  8. Or more specifically -- have a way for them to be offered a charge instead of a disconnect. Some may be looking for the chance to move on -- but there are many that would probably accept a charge instead of a disconnect (or how about a 3 strike policy?)
  9. I went to the NC state fair today in Raleigh and had 4G most of the time -- I did one speed test and got around 5/1 -- which I think is amazing seeing as that place was packed. I was in a building at one point and saw that I was on Cricket roaming... (this week I have "roamed" or been on a partner with: Alltel (in parts of NC), nTelos (in parts of WV and KY); US Cellular (in MO), Cricket (in NC) and Verizon (various states)... according to Signalcheck Pro... and that is just what I noticed!!
  10. I am on i64 in KY, near WV... And am in nTelos territory... EvDO not EHRPD ... I did a speed test and got 2.5 down and 1.0 up... Nice.
  11. Not saying he lied and not saying you don't know what you are talking about -- I will dig more for the "facts" that Sprint is not firing up a live LTE site until they have proper backhaul -- but for now I will address the fact that LTE reads lower db readings.. I went through this recently in the Myrtle Beach thread and I was pointed to this: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2040-bars-lie-for-lte-signal-strength-how-to-determine-your-actual-lte-signal-strength/ And specifically post #9: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2040-bars-lie-for-lte-signal-strength-how-to-determine-your-actual-lte-signal-strength/&do=findComment&comment=46156 Two totally different readings... the "same" strength on 1X or EVDO will be a lower number than that of an LTE strength...
  12. Don't think this is correct... I don't think they go live with LTE until back haul is in place and I know that the db readings are lower on the LTE due to a difference in how they are read,,, a lower db is always expected on LTE... Someone with more techincal knowledge needs to step in though...
  13. But the nice thing about the high-end cellular phones today is that unless you are a professional movie maker, picture taker, movie viewer, music listener, gamer, etc etc... they really are a one-size-fits all device... you really can use your phone for pictures of the child, light gaming (anything I will do), messaging, emailing, media intake and OMG calling people...
  14. any idea on the "on contract" pricing on this yet for Sprint? I think I might actually have my mom convinced this is her next phone (pending her trying it out in person for size reasons)... she is still rocking the original Galaxy (Epic) and about the only way she will give up her physical keyboard is to have a larger screen to type on...
  15. Engadgets new story this morning lists all the specs and actually (specifically) lists single band LTE..
  16. I know that a few sites have been recently approved up your way -- I would just be patient with it I am sure they are just doing final testing on it...
  17. I thought you went to Verizon... If you can have the patience it will happen soon. If not, then stop spamming the board with negativity....
  18. . You the same. Not going to convince me they tested a two hundred mile stretch through three different markets at the same time. And someone held an LTE stretch during this time for 75 miles at a time. I do thank you for your opinion though.
  19. When in uptown a few months ago it was hit or miss... But last month out there we had it most of the time.... But that is irrelevant as you seem to have decided on Verizon... And that is fine (heck, along with keeping Sprint I am getting Verizon next month so it would be hypocritical of me to judge you -- I just can't imagine only having a phone with metered data)...
  20. It just couldn't have been testing, too many miles and too many large stretches between sites... I dropped out of data (3G or 1x) several times and it seems that it was probably a "fake" connection that was actually 3G or something.
  21. The thing that bothers me about your post is... you took the time to research Sprint well, you became a sponsor... you have since come to realize that the ENTIRE FREAKIN' AREA around you is loaded with LTE... Yes, Rock Hill is behind.. but they do not have anything else to do but you... Just a bit longer dude!
  22. Yeah, that sucks My guess is that the culprit had some kind of custom ROM that reported a 3G signal as a 4G signal.... It really matches up with what I get along that route in 3G... including the small gaps in that persons mapping... but it was definitely not sprint 4G (other than maybe some small amounts in the above cities, around Orangeburg and Columbia maybe)...
  23. It is in areas where there is no LTE at all yet... It digs through parts of Rock Hill SC that have not lit up yet... and makes dark solid purple lines many many miles long through areas that are not even 3G updated yet... Two days after this showed up I carefully drove through that area and reset my connection at times to make sure that there wasn't 20 or 30 sites suddenly opened up to 4G and there was nothing (other than around the 4G site in Hardeeville SC and another one that opened up around 40 miles north of there Yemmessee area)... It is definitely a case of one persons phone on their way to or from FL or GA messing up and reporting a phantom signal... EDIT: The way it mapped it was either actually on 3G or MAYBE on Verizon 4G...
  24. There is a bunch of LTE 4G showing leading out of Charlotte NC on I77 then down I26 toward I95 then I95 south to Savannah GA that is false (I am guessing someones phone was messed up and said there was LTE when there wasn't)... Anything we can do to fix this on there? I love to map new sites ASAP but all of I95 from I26 to GA are ruined for me. I PMed the Sensorly username on here but got no response...
