  1. Yeah, I understand it and "get it now"... There is so much complexity in coverage. Obviously Verizon is going to portray it in a way that is favorable to them. I do love the sensorly comparison (even if it is simply relying on who does the most mapping, not who actually has coverage). Also I have seen that Verizon commercial a dozen times tonight and hate it.
  2. All of those maps are overstating coverage for each carrier (I think they are the carrier's maps, right?).. The Sprint map is Sprint's official launches -- but even those maps overstate where they DO show coverage. Of course we know there are many other locations have have LTE unofficially. Yeah, it looks like the Sprint map is not the most recent. We all know that T-Mobile is city limits and AT&T is in the midst of their build. Verizon does have near blanket coverage (my Verizon iPhone has only lost LTE a few times ever -- with a lot of travel). Sprint will have this (in their footprint) when they complete LTE800 though.
  3. I understand that guys. The other problem is the staggered contracts of others on my family plan. Furthermore, it really is a "what do I do" moment, just like OPs...
  4. I will be surprised if they do that -- but have seen stranger. I am thinking they will do something more like what the "#4" carrier did and get rid of it for the company stores, but still allow it through 3rd party. I am also curious how they will handle this for the millions of us that are on subsidized plans -- are they going to tell us they are glad to keep collecting subsidized sized checks from us each month, but "so sorry" on any upgrades? I am torn on what to do based on this rumor (leaning toward doing nothing).. I am eligible for an upgrade on a line 2/1/14 -- but I want to wait until the Note4 to use it. But will it be there for me to use? I also have been toying with getting the Framily plan -- but for five lines it isn't much cheaper -- especially when considering a few lines will need the 3gb plan -- and the loss of subsidized upgrades... This is kind of off topic (but not really as I am toying with buying now or waiting until fall -- just like OP -- for slightly different reasons, I guess)..
  5. Just as funny is how small that city (town?) is.... Really worth an announcement? I guess at this pace sometime this year they can announce the 3,000 "market"...
  6. I love how they put one 4G site in the heart of the small town of Georgetown SC and mark it as a new LTE market lol.. Funny stuff...
  7. Ahh, okay... So I can get an email if any of my lines get close, then shut the data down manually? That just might work.
  8. Question for the reps or others in the know... I know that there is overage charges if you go over the 1gb and not throttling (unfortunate) -- but is there a way to block overage charges AKA shut off the data when the 1gb has been reached? I am thinking of trying to talk the MIL out of her expensive Verizon plan (with myself and her on it) and onto my family's plan (5 of us) for a total of the 7 needed for the $25/pp framily (and getting Nexus 5's when needed)... 1 gb each phone should be more than enough but I fear her or my sister (mostly them two) running up several GBs and ending up with a several hundred dollar bill or something...
  9. Just saw a Framily commercial on CBS a bit ago... I guess they are now on the new ads now after cancelling the old ones.
  10. I was out in a very rural area (called Green Sea) where I normally roam all the time -- but using the sponsor PRL I was now hanging onto a weak 1x800 signal -- must've been out of Loris SC -- which is a long ways away. This 800 stuff is going to really fill in the gaps. Hope LTE800 does the same on the LTE side...
  11. I saw the first part, couldn't find the 1.5 cent part... There pretty much goes my plans of switching to this -- I can handle throttled, but not going to be subject to $15plus per GB for overages (T-Mobile still wins in that department, I guess)...
  12. I have looked everywhere, and have not seen an answer: what happens if you go over the 1gb or 3gb? Do you have a choice of throttle or overages? if not, which is it? If it is overages -- how much do they cost? I am okay with a throttle -- but have no interest in the overages if I am going to manage 7 to 10 phones for various family... (I do not like the idea of seperate accounts doe to the fact that they could stop paying or quit -- and 5 phones are more expensive than 7 on this plan!)...
  13. I didn't ask any questions If you live in the middle of a dense metro area and rarely travel and do not want an MVNO T-Mobile IMHO is clearly the best -- if you are extreme rural -- one of the duopolies are likely best... everything in the middle likely would be best under Sprint (many more variables than this of course).
  14. I do not remember any 1x only coverage on that route when I went through there in October -- but I wasn't watching my phone the whole time either. As far as Carolina West, I believe they are the ones that I was in "home" coverage with when I was in Lake Lure in June -- I noticed that I *WAS* not in a normal Sprint coverage when (a) I had EVDO and not EHRDP and ( there were NO sprint sites on the maps in the sponsor section here. I *DID* have smoking fast EVDO speeds I had never seen on Sprint up to that point though (I must have been the only one on that site or something)...
  15. There is a LOT of T-Mobile talk on here and across the rest of the tech industry. I truely do love them, they are the most competitive company out there and they are making the "other" three worried. I like the way their CEO is playin' the social media game. I love their pricing. I just can't get over the fact that literally 3/4 of their coverage is 2G with no (public) plans to modernize. If I lived in the middle of NYC or CHI or something, I would totally be there.. but being a country guy all my life, they are worthless to me at this point. I do NOT want to see them merge with Sprint though, as they are what is really driving the innovation in pricing and no-contract pricing right now and I feel that Sprint/Softbank would shut that down instantly to return the industry to status quo.
  16. This almost seems like chapter one in "S4GRU's Frugal Guide To Bomb Making" or something similar... /as for your question, you might want to find an MVNO that offers voice/text roaming so it will work when rural -- does Ting, and how are their low usage charges?
  17. According to SeanK_'s post it appears the only change is roaming abilities in the Bahamas. As for the second part of your post -- this is why they do "double blind studies" when determining if a new product (especially drug) works better. (aka Placebo effect)..
