  1. Mike...I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, Sprint commissioned sales people cannot be trusted any more than any other commissioned sales people. They definitely should not be trusted to provide any accurate info. They will tell you what you want to hear to make a sale. In most cases, they are not lying directly. They really have no idea when LTE is coming. So they make something up to make a sale and hope it works out. Commissioned sales people for other carriers are no different, I'm afraid. You can pick up a WiMax hotspot for pretty cheap to help tie you over until LTE arrives. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  2. Ah, yes. I believe you're right about that. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  3. I think that every Tmo flagship phone from now on will support LTE AWS. Also, if memory serves, the Tmo GS3 always supported LTE AWS, it just needs to be software enabled. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  4. Five Oklahoma sites accepted in the outer Tulsa area on Friday. All only had 3G accepted, so far. And all were full builds. I'd keep an eye on these sites though. They may just have LTE come out of them expectantly. They are posted in the NV Sites Complete map over in the Sponsor section. Robert
  5. I was oh so close to buying a new Blackberry Z10 on Verizon last night to use as a new work phone. I think it was the 4.2" screen that turned me off. Too small for my big meaty paws. I think I'm going to wait for the Sprint BB device that was hinted as coming later this year. I really want to put a BB full screen/full size device through our RF testing wringer to see how it does. Now that you can run Android apps when you need to, BB could be a viable contender if it had serious RF performance advantages. I spent some time going through the CDMA and LTE band RF reports on the FCC OET last night, and the VZW BB Z10 looks to be pretty solid. I would like to see if that ends up being true in real world usage. Robert
  6. T-Mobile upgraded three of our sites to HSPA+ here in the Espanola, New Mexico area. Too bad they connected them to their T1 lines. I love it when my Tmo friends brag about my them having "4G" here and laugh at me for using Sprint. I ask them to run a speed test, my Sprint 3G runs between 1-2Mbps, their Tmo 4G runs at 300k-800kbps. And then I tell them to sod off. However, I don't offer the same challenge when in Santa Fe. My Sprint 3G runs at 400k, and their Tmo HSPA+ is over 20Mbps in places. Robert
  7. I'm not familiar with VZW MSC's, but I would expect there are some varied setups and vendors with all the different companies VZW has purchased over the years. Probably an inconsistent nightmare. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  8. The issue of NetMonitor and CDMA Field Test not showing LTE site locations is not new and has been proven before in other threads. If you are in a rural, semi-rural or lightly deployed area, you will almost always be connected to the same 1x and LTE site. But that doesn't mean the app is correct. It's still inaccurate, it's just mistakenly showing the correct site. But in urban areas with lots of site, or dense suburban and fully deployed areas, the odds are much much lower that you will be connected to the same 1x and LTE site. And when that happens, the inaccuracy of these apps will be very annoying. However, if you insist you're connected to a specific LTE site because the app says so, there is no harm in having an electronic placebo, I suppose. However, we here at S4GRU go through a lot of effort to help educate the masses on wireless networks. You're welcome to take or leave any of that education. The only way to know which LTE site youre connected to is to learn how to check your LTE Cell ID and start tracking them. There is am lot of information in the Austin and New Orleans thread where the members explain how to do it. Then you can be a true wireless enthusiast. Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD

  10. Also, each device has different RF performance. It's possible that no modification in power was made, but the person who mapped after you visited has a device that has better RF performance on the PCS LTE band. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  11. Signals carry much farther over water. It can be from almost anywhere. Even Burien. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  12. It is showing you the site your 1x is connected to, always. No matter what data connection you may have. It never shows EVDO and LTE site locations. EVDO and LTE do not broadcast their locations in a way that any app can use them. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  13. It never does. It is showing you the 1x you're connected to. If you're connected to same 1x site as LTE, it's just coincidence. Even a broken clock is right twice per day. But that doesn't make the clock accurate. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  14. Not LTE and EVDO it doesn't. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  15. NetMonitor only shows 1x site locations. Not 3G EVDO or LTE site locations. And even the accuracy of 1x site locations vary by market. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk
  16. I dont use cases anymore. But I probably am jinxing myself. Robert via Samsung Note II via Tapatalk

  23. Also, if people are using the Nexus 4 for Tmo testing, isn't it MIMO limited? Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD
  24. If it had one T1 upgrade in the past 6 months and a 3G NV upgrade, it will say 2 data speed upgrades also. If had two T1 upgrades in the past 6 months, it will also say 2 data speed upgrades. So, 2 data speed upgrades are polluted with non 4G sites too. So it is true to say that almost every LTE accepted site will say 2 data speed upgrades, but not every 2 data speed upgrades site has live LTE. Additionally, this is only true of AlcaLu markets where 3G is deployed ahead of LTE. It does not work in Ericsson and Samsung markets where they deploy LTE most often first. It also is not true of AlcaLu in Charlotte, Norfolk and Raleigh/Durham where they deploy LTE first. Because those typically say 1 data speed upgrade and are polluted with all the T1 upgrades.
