This is the reason I prefer GSM based carriers. No BS and run arounds when using unbranded phones. Hopefully when CDMA is gone and it's only LTE all carriers will be that way.

Don't forget that there's sometimes a price to pay for being an early adopter. The difference a week makes is sometimes the difference between complete frustration and an easy transition.

In keeping up with this thread I'm almost glad (not quite...) that mine hasn't yet arrived. That week might just make my life much easier.

Yeah, that "GSM based" unlocked handset situation is so great in these days of dozens of LTE bands.

Maybe somebody buys an older T-Mobile handset that does not support band 2 and/or band 12 LTE.  So, that person complains online about how bad T-Mobile is -- because he does not get LTE where the coverage map indicates.

Or repeat the scenario with a T-Mobile user who ports to AT&T, handset intact.  He may lack band 2 and/or band 5 LTE but definitely lacks band 29 and band 30 LTE.  So, he complains online about how slow AT&T LTE is.

Are those great situations?  Or just "BS and run arounds"?

In this complicated mobile environment, most people are ignorant.  For the greater good, we would be better off with no unlocked handsets, no SIM cards, and only operator specific handsets.

Agree that when a phone don't have all the LTE bands it's gonna be a cluster. But now technology has caught up and we can have all the band's why can't phone manufacturers just make them all that way and it just works with every carrier? Buy the phone and pick the carrier.

Can we have "all the LTE bands"?  The only handset that even comes close is the yet to be released iPhone 6S -- and even it is not perfect in supporting all airlinks and bands.  Not to mention, Apple develops and releases just one or two excessively priced handsets only once per year.  That is an anomalous situation.

Wow, a lot has happened since Saturday morning.  I worked with Exec support via Twitter most of Saturday, into the evening.  About 9pm, they finally figured out that the recommended SIM is SKU CZ4114LWC, unfortunately, I was engrossed in the MSU-Oregon game so I didn't see the message until about 10p.  I worked with them again Sunday morning and they are shipping the SIM to me.  UPS has already scheduled the delivery for tomorrow.

I'm loving the device via Wifi, i think I'll love it even more as a phone.

Sucks what has been discovered regarding the engineering screens.  What was done to get that resolved on the Moto X 2013?

Interesting. A couple pages back someone posted that the correct Sim is CZ2114LWC. Now its CZ4114LWC? All that changes is one digit from 2 to 4

I noticed that as well, I will be very interested to see what happens tomorrow.  Unfortuantely, I will be in town for work, then have a crazy busy evening with the family.  I won't get to test it until after all the kids stuff is done and they are in bed.

Do i have to give them either of those numbers when ordering over the phone?

Just ordered a Nano sim card from Sprint. Only thing they asked me what Device, how many gigs was the device and that's it. No mention of a Sku #. Took all but 12 minutes because i had to get transfered to order support.

Verify that they are sending the correct SIM with the info users have provided. Sprint sent me an incorrect SIM already and another one that is on the way but still incorrect.

Did the rep provide you with a confirmation number? If yes, go to sprint.com/myorder and enter your confirmation # it should start with DM14-

Order information will populate, check the SKU that appears and compare with the info in this thread. If it matches to the correct SIM info we provided then you are good to go.

How long have you been waiting for your IMEI to be whitelisted?

As far as I know, nothing was done.  These are not the kind of bugs that get fixed.

How do i request this exact one?

The same way you requested the first one, let them know if you can cancel the current order and request the  new SIM that david279 provided on the screenshot

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
