Hopefully the regional/local managers have a better sense of what's going on in their specific market and can better direct those improvements as needed.

Son said a lot more things last year besides being a "busy guy". He has reaffirmed his support for Sprint multiple times, but they don't bother to mention that in the article.

 

SoftBank has since made multiple share purchases of Sprint stock and it's right up against the 85% ownership threshold, which if exceeded, would result in SoftBank having to acquire the rest of Sprint.

 

The Bloomberg Article on which this Seeking Alpha post is based strikes me as a hit piece. I'll bet someone is shorting Sprint stock today.

Well, i dont think masa will break the treshhold, until sprint is in the green. If sprint can make it out on top im all for it, but it just looks really bad!

In reality not many, unless they keep up with the stock and numbers. When Bloomberg reports this its taken more serious then if any others reported it.

Like I said, a Sprint version exists. There is absolutely no question about that. None. So don't worry about it.

 

Whoever tipped that author likely had a GSM version of the phone.

I don't think Sprint can afford any mistakes on what devices it can carry at this stage. The Priv is just sitting on shelves.

I agree with that. What's funny is that BlackBerry made its January 2016 announcement as if Sprint had already committed to sell it.

 

I guess BlackBerry and Sprint weren't on the same page.

With its financial problems Sprint only needs sure products on their shelfs (IPhone, Galaxy and the note lines).

 

Sprint network is improving, but it's balance sheet is a mess. The previous management didn't fix the network or the company financial problems, they just kicked the can down the road.

I can't decide if I want the silver back or the black back. From previous experiences, the black back tended to scratch a bit best the USB charging port.

Also looks like the HTC 10 has 3xCA enabled for the Chinese market.

 

Hopefully this means it will be the same here, which would make sense considering how similar the band is.

What's unfortunate (that I just recently learned), is that Gary is still being paid a pension.

Its been reiterated over and over again, no.. Sprint is not cutting cost on the network side of things. Its full steam ahead in multiple markets. CA+small cell has been moving forward as planned. 

 

They will eventually get to all markets. I think its just tougher to get more specific network details, but its happening now.

It's not the network I am concerned about nearly as much as the balance sheet. Now do I think Sprint is in immediate danger of C11? No, but I don't think they can afford any more major errors at this stage.

Sprint just announced a new President for Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands:

Marcelo has recruited some top talent for One Sprint. He's basically put a CEO in charge of each of the 4 geographical regions (West, Central, South, Northeast) and a manager in charge of 19 specific regions within those 4 areas.

 

It's remarkable how many of these Area and Regional presidents are senior management or CEO's from other companies, like Claudio. Marcelo has poached a number of regional presidents from Verizon too.

 

The thinking here is, we're going to put you (as a former CEO or senior manager with experience from another company) in charge of this Sprint area or region. You run it as if you are the CEO or manager. You report your results up the chain. I think it's a great idea.

 

I too wonder how much all these 'top-notch' executives are being paid. We have seen many companies become top heavy in the past and get bogged down in mindless executive speak. They need one vision for the whole company. The balance sheet is still a mess, they still have plenty or network issues, and the competition is only getting tougher. This is a company that cannot afford to make anymore costly mistakes or they are toast. I do think Craig Moffet though had to be abused by someone at Sprint as a child because I do not understand his hatred towards the company. Sprint is still 100x better than they were just a few years ago, but it is a dangerous road right now, and hopefully Marcelo is able to get them to better times.
