We continue to follow the FCC in the Shentel buyout of nTelos and spectrum for Sprint dealings over here (must be a sponsor): http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/7395-west-virginia-sprint-sponsor-map-spreadsheet/&do=findComment&comment=467326

I did happen to notice a couple hours ago while at the Walmart in Greene County Va. That nTelos does have both Band 25 and Band 26 installed at the tower at the corner of Route 29 and Route 33.

I have seen a great deal of improvement over the past two weeks on my drive home to Lake Monticello. I will say the iPhone might have one of the worst radios I have ever used.

This is from my house at Lake Monticello. This is usually the speed all the time. Never really any fluctuation. I'm beyond happy with nTelos's progress.

OK guys, spoke with 3 separate Sprint stores over the past few days, all seem to be dead set saying by the first of April, Shentel will be finished with the acquisition.

Something doesn't seem quite right. Unless 10x10 channels have been deployed, that upload is to high for a 5x5 channel.

Do you have any way of knowing if it is 10x10. Was wondering how it was that fast.

I was in Lynchburg, Virginia and service is bad. Lte isn't working but then I looked up and saw guys working on the tower. Any idea if this is Sprint panels or not?

Nope. ATT Band 30 deplloyment. You can see the newly installed B30 RRUS32 on the left side. Much more rectangular than the typical RRUS11/12.

Dang it. Well Sprint has been terrible in Lynchburg as a whole. LTE has zero data, but 3g is solid (2.5mbps) in most places. I hit 55mbps tonight further up on Wards Road inside a Kroger on my wifes iphone 6s. Hopefully they fix this and get the network up to par.

You guys are still waiting on Shentel to take over. It shouldn't take too long once the take over is complete as the combined PCS holdings will enable expansion from the small 5x5 to two individual 5x5 for double the capacity or even 10x10 second carrier for triple the capacity. All of which is through software but until Shentel takes over you guys are still at the mercy of the woeful ntelos network. =(

There is at least 14 sites with 2nd carrier B25 live right now. nTelos is pretty good so far with LTE I believe it made it out of the worst 5 Markets. From my experience Western PA(1 LTE),Alabama(no B41),SC(no B41), Myrtle Beach(no B41)are worst than nTelos with B41. Not saying there is no room for improvement just that nTelos market has seen a large improvement from the past.

What is the holdup of the take over? Seems to be moving comparatively slow.

I have been seeing this over the past few days. LTE roaming at my house at Lake Monticello. When I head into the basement and lose nTelos service this kicks in. It starts with 1X and switches to LTE after a few seconds. The speeds are not that great but it doesn't count towards my roaming bucket or normal. Very strange

Roaming data doesn't update right away. It can take days for it to register. Be careful not to use a ton of data, as it may still show up eventually. It looks like you might be in a USCC roaming area? We'd need a field test screenshot to confirm what is going on.

It would have to be USCC. I don't roam any other time so I'll be able to keep it under the roaming limit. I'll check for the next few days to see if anything appears. I will say it normally appears within 24 hours when roaming on USCC 1X

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and coule potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.  — — — — — The old permit expired for this site without any work being done but a new permit was just approved a few days ago for a T-Mobile site at this address. Description mentions 3 antennas with 2 RRUs per sector. My guess is they're doing something similar to what they did at 360 Furman St in Brooklyn where they broadcast Band 2/66 and n25/41 from one antenna. It's a bit of a downgrade considering the site it's replacing was a full build with Ericsson 6449s.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
