Murphysboro, IL has 17th Street the only 3 time world champions of barbecue. The world championships are held in Memphis. That's a pretty killer BBQ city too. Everyone talks about KC and Texas, yet those places get glossed over when they more than hold their own.

Memphis BBQ is good too.  Had some good stuff when I was in Nashville last year.  Haven't had Carolina style yet.  I hear their pulled pork is something special.

Not all Carolina BBQ is created equal. That crap up in NC is nothing compared to what we have going on in SC.

Pulled pork is known as BBQ here. Ask for a BBQ sandwich and you'll get a pulled pork sandwich. Ask for a pulled pork sandwich and they'll know you aren't a local.

And whatever you do. Get the Mustard based sauce. Vinegar and ketchup based sauces are too overbearing on the meat flavors.

What wood do you smoke your pork in? I use a charcoal smoker with mesquite lump and a combo of Jack Daniels and Tabasco white oak barrel chips. Best pulled pork ever!

Eastern Carolina barbecue rocks, the best of the best!! By the way I'm talkin' 'bout de real Carolina (NORTH). It'll even make U forget that no Sprint lte coverage east of I-95

I called 311 earlier today and negotiated my way to someone who could explain why there were a lot of 'holds' on Sprint tower permits in NE Mecklenberg county. While I don't believe she knew what she was talking about, she did admit the holds had to do with improper electrical wiring......

I am headed to my favorite barbecue joint!!!

Tabasco, is good but Franks Red Hot or a new sauce I found called Cackalacky, its a sweet potato based hot sauce that gives a better taste after slow cooking.    We need to start a thread about food and cooking LOL!

I was referring to Tabasco white oak barrel wood smoking chips for a meat smoker. But I agreed for hot sauces, Tabasco is not a favorite of mine.

Been many years since I was there and sampled it but I'll definitely second this, some of the best food I've eaten to date still.  I skipped lunch and got the sampler platter of a smaller portion of everything for (at the time) about $21-22.

Oh, and I'm glad to see (AJ's slant aside) all the talk of pulled pork, I get tired of people who fixate on ribs when it comes to BBQ.  Not saying I don't like ribs, but most of the time I'd take pulled pork regardless of the region its from over ribs.

At the obvious and blatant risk of taking AJ's tangent and making it even worse, I think the reason for that is that pulled pork gets you more bang-for-the-buck in terms of the (portion) size of the meat.

    • Here is how many competitive permits are "remaining" in each state after round 27: (bonus points: reply with the states/territories/districts that are already "settled".) AL 4 AR 1 AS 2 AZ 5 CA 2 CO 53 DE 2 FL 5 GA 48 GU 3 HI 3 IA 40 ID 19 IL 7 IN 19 KS 113 KY 22 LA 9 MA 3 MD 11 ME 1 MI 48 MO 54 MP 10 MS 27 MT 33 NC 12 ND 22 NE 8 NH 1 NJ 2 NM 26 NV 17 NY 6 OH 24 OK 9 OR 2 PA 2 PR 1 SC 12 SD 47 TN 17 TX 36 UT 23 VA 8 WA 22 WI 22 WV 2 WY 11
    • Almost 89% and $250 Million after round 27.
    • Pace picks up a bit.  Round 23.  About 86% now "uncontested" and $223 Million total.  Down to 159 licenses without bids.
    • https://www.lightreading.com/5g/the-quiet-brilliance-of-t-mobiles-5g-spectrum-strategy/a/d-id/779589? Basically Money savings on 2.5 mostly rural auction are funding 600MHz purchases.  Also mentions continuing purchases of 2.5 outright. Likely understates the amount of MHz. Auction going slightly faster with 4 auction sessions per day now, but still less than 80% "settled".  After 18 rounds it is at $190 Million, with $400 to $800 Million expected. could go on for another month.  check here for updates about 1 hour after each round: https://www.sashajavid.com/FCC_Auction108.php#county_details_table_overlay
    • Yeah, I went up to Kitsap on Friday. Was able to connect to several n41 sites as SA only in Port Orchard, Bremerton and Silverdale.  However, I could not get any throughput.  It would say Mobile Data Suspended.  n41 NSA would throughput just fine. Was pushing 500-800 Mbps. I don't know if it was the network at the time or my device causing the failure for data throughput. It was the exact same result on every site I connected to.  I'm on a normal Tmo Postpaid SIM.  Nothing unusual.  LG V60. Robert n41 SA   n41 NSA
