I just activated my new galaxy victory on Ting, and it picked up PRL 24013. From digiblur's "Every Sprint PRL" post on xda, 24xxx is a "business acct" PRL. Would this be the normal Sprint 24013 PRL, or would they have a modified version?

I don't believe RF performance is any part of this. But it could very well be the opposite that the phone doesn't perform as well on 800SMR so it only uses it as a last resort.   Sent from my littl

I'm on PRL 51095 here in Austin TX on my iphone5... but my phone switches between that and 31100 occasionally. My phone does not have a TX area code though. How does Sprint assign PRLs to subscribers? Is it phone number based, current geography based, or what?

By account type and device type. PRLs are national since people travel with their phones around the world.

Both manual and automatic. Go into your debug screen under the 1x data.

That is the new one. 55xxx is on the Note2 since it has international capabilities. Pretty close to 25xxx now.

Enter "##debug#" in your phone dialer. Then enter "777468" for the lock code. The check out the 1x Engineering RF screen

The only thing the iPhone doesn't support is SVDO & SVLTE. Otherwise it supports CDMA/EVDO 800 & 1900, & LTE 1900, plus CDMA/EVDO on 850, and is a world roaming capable phone.

I believe it's 800 SMR support was only certified with the FCC for CDMA 1X, not LTE. As far as I understand its radio, there is no hardware limitation for this as it can transmit/receive any of the supported technologies on any of the supported bands, but it would require a software update to enable.

 

So YMMV, but after iDEN shuts down next year we may see Apple enable LTE on SMR or they may not. No one knows, but there's a much higher chance than most manufacturers given Apple's track record of updating older devices.

I would rather that Apple make the iPhone 5S compatible with 800 LTE and SVLTE capable. Granted, I'm not missing the feature, but it would be nice to have.

"On or around", yes. Nothing about that has changed, save for charging Nextel customers more (which, if I remember correctly, they're gonna be up to $20 extra per line some time next month).

I was traveling down I75 yesterday and my phone had just taken the 25013 update. As I was going through Cleveland TN around the 25th street exit I noticed I was roaming for a few moments and had 4G dispayed while I was roaming. I opened not roam control to see what network I was on and it said Verizon. Also for the first time I saw the roaming triangle notification turn to a very small R. Has anyone else picked up Verizon 4G while roaming or noticed the letter R indtead of the triangle on a Samsung Galaxy S3?

Your Sprint variant Galaxy S3 is incompatible with VZW LTE. So, you experienced Sprint LTE while roaming on VZW CDMA1X. This is nothing new -- it happens occasionally.

      Kind of amazing that T-Mobile is still holding onto that speed title despite Verizon all but killing off lowband 5G on their network. While Verizon is mostly being evaluated on mmWave and C-band performance, T-Mobile and AT&T's average 5G speeds include their massive lowband 5G networks that are significantly slower.

      Yup. Very true. We were originally on an Everything Data 1500 Plan, which got Unlimited Minutes thanks to Marcelo's "Loyalty Benefits" offer. We then switched to Unlimited Freedom (with the Free HD add-on that Sprint originally wanted $20/month per line for.... remember that?) because the pricing was better with "iPhone for Life", vs. the "Loyalty Credit" for staying on a Legacy Plan. After that, I ran the numbers and switched us over to Sprint MAX, especially for the international travel benefits. There's absolutely no reason for us to switch to Go5G Plus or Go5G Next if we're going to do BYOD by purchasing from Apple/Samsung/Google directly as we've been doing. These new plans aren't priced for current customers to switch to. They're priced for new customers, where they throw in a free line, etc. It's gone from "Uncarrier" to "Carrier". What a shame.

      Strange business model that they keep around all these pricing plans. 1000s of plans per carrier is reportedly not uncommon.  Training customer support must be a nightmare. Even MVNOs have legacy plans. A downside of their contract mentality I guess. Best to change contracts during a recession. But then all carriers try to squeeze out legacy plan benefits as they grow old.

      Everything "Uncarrier" is becoming "Carrier" again. Because of the Credit Limit that T-Mobile put on our account for no reason at all (and wouldn't change/update the last time I checked all the way up to the CEO), I don't plan on buying/upgrading our iPhones through T-Mobile. I'm going through Apple directly. Looks like I'll be going through Google and Samsung directly for our other lines for upgrades. Also, we're staying on Sprint Max given the ridiculous pricing for Go5G Plus. On Sprint Max, we currently pay for our Plan: $260 for 7 Voice Lines $25 for two Wearable Lines. (One is $10/Month. The other is $15/Month because the AutoPay discount only applies up to 8 lines.) Total: $285/Month vs. Go5G Plus (Per the Broadband Facts "nutrition label" on the T-Mobile Website): https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce/cell-phone-plans $360 - ($5 AutoPay Discount x 7 Voice Lines) = $325 The Watch Plans show as either $12/Month or $15/Month: https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/affordable-data-plans/smartwatches So this is about the same for the wearables as what we're paying now. Overall, it's quite more than we're paying now to switch plans. Ridiculous....
