When someone says its not possible to get 31 down and 9 up with the non-mimo tech that Sprint uses how do I correct that misnomer. What is the scientific way of explaining that it is possible because a speed test result isn't apparently good enough.  I want this person to be completely put in his place because that speed test did not lie to me.

In all seriousness, the math is simple. 5x5mhz FDD-LTE can do about 37mbps max with a good airlink on an unloaded sector. Sprint B25/B26 is currently running a 5x5mhz configuration. I hit 30+Mbps all the time on both B25 and B26, in a major metropolitan market.

 

As for TD-LTE B41, it is configured in 20mhz carriers. Currently, only one 20mhz carrier is enabled on a 3:2 ratio, which has a theoretical max speed of about 85mbps. Sprint will be adding 2 more 20mhz carriers for a total of 60mhz (20x20x20) in carrier aggregation very soon. I have plenty of 80mbps speed tests from B41 sites.

 

Some people don't care about the facts. MIMO doesn't magically change the math, it just changes how many people can get those max speeds and how well they can still get good speeds as their airlink deteriorates at the edge of cell.

At a minimum, LTE requires 2x2 MIMO on the downlink.  Anyone who says otherwise spreads FUD or knows not what he is a talking about.  So, Sprint's LTE MIMO is the same as AT&T's LTE MIMO and VZW's LTE MIMO.

Open your Dialer and dial *#0011# which will open a service menu that will show you which band you are connected to.

thank you for that and I was completely mistake tmobile has 10mhz of aws spectrum deployed hm...what does the customer or customers get per spectral slice...

And tmobile did all this with a 2 billion breakup fee from att.

Upgrades to coaxial or fiber-based connections are generally in progress from the moment a site is identified for upgrade. In the event that neither type is available, T-Mobile will construct a point-to-point microwave link to its closest coaxial/fiber node.

 

That being said, there are circumstances where upgrading the backhaul takes a ridiculously long time. For example, in Dothan, AL, T-Mobile had DC-HSPA+ online with only 3xTDM/T1 for about two years while it waited for CenturyLink (the only fiber provider in the area) to actually pump up fiber capacity and distribution to reach T-Mobile's sites. Of course, it wasn't supposed to take two years, but this is CenturyLink, after all. This was finally resolved last year, and T-Mobile quickly switched on LTE afterward.

Century Link is just universally the worst it seems.

Yes. But the availability of AT&T roaming locations is very limited.
