Network Vision/LTE - Riverside/San Bernardino Market (Inland Empire)

I just mapped a bunch of streets using Sensorly yesterday around the Waterman Ave and Marshall Blvd areas of San Bernardino

and have noticed a strong presense of LTE in my neighborhood. I live on Pershing Ave and 31st St but can't tell what tower is transmitting LTE in this area. Anyway, good job Sprint.

As the upgrades are rolled out, you should see 800 soon.  The new equipment needs to be in place first.

Does anyone know if the tower in jurupa(riverside) on the cross streets of camino real and granite hill drive on a little hill next to the giant elephant/mammoth by the jurupa cultural center will get 4g LTE? Because that tower looks different then the rest. It does not have three long panels. Instead it has 6 smaller panels? I saw workers on it way back in April so I'm not sure

Since they are blanketing freeway corridors with signal, I'm going to guess it will be LTE.

Pictures would be helpful. Upgraded Sprint sites have one large antenna per sector with 2 RRUs mounted behind/near each antenna. 

 

As far as when a particular site will get LTE, it's nearly impossible to say. It depends on when Aclatel Lucent is able to install the equipment, and then it's up to the local ISP to bring in the fiber. There have been major delays in Fiber in the region, which unfortunately Sprint doesn't have much control over.

Over 95% of ALL sprint sites will get LTE, it is just a matter of when.  If the equipment looks different, it probably has been updated.  You could always give up a few bucks to find out more and keep up to date by becoming a sponsor.

There were workers working on the tower for about a week about last May, almost a year ago but ever since they worked on it the 3G went from decent .30-.80down to terrible .00-.30 down. And nothing has changed since. And like the someone above said usually all towers by freeways will get LTE but this tower is smaller then every other sprint tower I have seen and has six small antennas instead of 3 large ones.

I will tell you that a site matching your description has had 3g acceptance.  But for the cost of a kids meal at McDonalds, you could know that and more.  I can understand not wanting to give up money, but if you really want to know the changes, you really should donate.  This would answer more of your questions as well.

The tower closest to my Community College got accepted today because now I have full LTE every were on campus and not just 2 bars on the second floor of every building  .

I start sampling and let it run, I don't turn the screen off and I see it running getting samples, then I end. What am I doing wrong that it doesn't show on the coverage map?

Mapping on Sensorly does not upload immediately. It might take a while to update on the maps. It also depends if there's backlog on the servers.

Had to drive to Corona from San Diego to swap cars with my brother and Sprint has made a marked improvement with expanding 4G LTE along the I-15 corridor from Temecula to Corona. I had a solid 4G LTE signal from Murrieta to about a mile north of the Lake Elsinore outlets which then switched back to 3G which only lasted to Corona Lakes where 4G LTE switched back on all the way to Automobile Club of Southern California off of El Camino Ave.

 

Then on the way back I decided to stop by Storm Stadium (aka The Diamond) in Lake Elsinore to see if 4G LTE made it out to the ballpark, which sure enough it did (wasn't sure it was since either the 4G LTE petered out or no one mapped it, which eventually became the latter as opposed to the former on Sensorly). So I mapped the parking lot, took a speed test on speedtest.net and got 4.47Mbps download/2.07Mbps upload on a 50ms ping time.

 

As someone who goes to about 10 Storm games, I couldn't be happier. It was unbearable to use Sprint's data along the I-15 corridor, now, that isn't the case anymore and I'm super stoked about that.

Saw some tower work over the weekend on this tower near LaSierra and Magnolia. Not sure if it's Sprint's, as the S4GRU map shows it on top of the Kaiser building to the east. I sure hope so, this area is long overdue, even 3G speed is paltry at best.

The tower that covers my home area is lte accepted but I don't get a good lte signal or none at all I only get it outside which is also weak but if I travel west of it I get good signal could the sector aiming at my home be a 3G only sector? Its a clear shot to my home idk what's going on.

I thought for sure I would notice an overall data speed increase, but unfortunately the 4G is still weak enough that most of the time it's signal is below -110 - rendering the 4G useless, and the 3G speed is still slow - despite the fact I often get a strong signal. Can any of you 'in the know' explain this, and share when I might actually start experiencing faster overall speeds? Also, any idea when 800 mhz is coming? Thanks

It's hard to say. It sounds like you have weak signals. Which will result in weak speeds. Also, there are lots of sites in your market not upgraded meaning too few sites are carrying too much traffic. Based in the current rate of production in your market, improvements will likely be slow in coming.

 

Since your market is right near the IBEZ boundary and the areas outside are still suffering through rebanding issues, we are still not certain how 800 will benefit you. It will likely be at least a year.

Any news for Riverside County, it's been to quiet... I'm happy that I at least have LTE when I'm at work and school, but 3g is now unusable in the tower closest to me ever since it got nv panels last year in May and it was always above 1Mbs before the upgrade now it's at 10-30 kBs most of the time :/. Also only tower in my town with other towers being 7-9 miles away so when service is down u can really notice it.
