Saw more workers on the Marriott at the airport today. Looked like just cabinet work going on. I am assuming these are Sprint contractors but I am not sure.

Mapped some new coverage in south St. Pete on MLK and 3rd st.

I just saw the tracks today. Looks like The USF area is lit up now. Hopefully that's a sign the rest of DT St. Pete is next or at least in the stages. Recepetion down there has been less than thrilling lately.

No panels yet. I was expecting this at all but I had saw some guys digging a few weeks ago so I went over to see if the cabinets were set yet and this is what I found.

I'm no RF nerd like some if you, but could this configuration have been done because the panels are on a power line tower?

Engineering may have limited the weight allowed on the tower, but they needed a full build site so they placed the RRUs on the ground. A true GMO site would have only 3 RRUs on the ground, and would not get new panels.

So this site will be no different than any other?

Shouldn't be. It looses some of the advantages of having the RRUs directly behind the panel, but that should be negligible.

Does anyone know if Sprint finally turned on then enhanced 3g speeds? I was getting ehrpd before, but only getting 1-1.2 down. Now since the tower on Fowler and 50th went on if i switch over to 3g only mode or fall out of LTE range indoors i get a solid 2 mbps.

To my knowledge they have not turned on 800mhz yet. I know I will be excited when the do, I haven't been able to use my phone inside my house for 2 years.

When they switch to the 800mhz will my gs3 automaticly be able to use the band or do I have to get a new phone?

It's possible. The real test to see if you are using NV 3G is the ping times. Part of the requirement for the NV buildout was ping times of ~100ms or less.

Enhanced 3G EVDO is different from 800 CDMA. 800 CDMA is 1x only, with support for only voice or minimal data. 800 CDMA will not improve your 3G speeds.

Yes, it will use it. But remember it is 1x only, which means it will be mainly used for voice. In the rare occasion that 800 CDMA is the only signal you can get, it you will only see data speeds of about 100Kbps.

Is that on Roosevelt? There are a few towers that could have become active or was active in the area. Did you get a chance to map it?

The racetrack is on 126ave n and about 40 st n. I've mapped there once before when I found a week signal. But It slipped my mind to map on my way out last night.
