  1. I saw some workers up there about a week and a half ago. They took down two legacy antennas and left the new antenna and RRUs as they have other sites that were updated.
  2. Well if you're more than a one phone family (and you're trying to stay loyal) you could move to TING and have a phone on Sprint's network and one on TMO
  3. I took a motorcycle ride the other day and was surprised to see so many sites near me that are "non wimax/Clear" sites to have 8t8r already installed on them. Ones I saw were in Riverview as well as south of Sun City Center on 301, and others.
  4. I know most of you know I work at the airport, and that the site here is in the center of a number of sites that are completed. I wanted to just bring something up about one of those sites, specifically the UHaul site on Hillsborough Ave near the airport, just west of Dale Mabry. I was at a work bowling function yesterday after work at Pin Chasers. As I headed down Hillsborough towards Dale Mabry I looked over to the small site there (short tower). On glancing I saw a crew up there installing the additional 8t8r antennas there. So, I would imagine they are now all in place and that site will have those going in the near future. Another 8t8r site in Tampa in progress.
  5. Just outside of the Panther Trace subdivision near Rhodine Rd. in Riverview. If you want, next time I ride my bicycle near there, I will snap a pic.
  6. Happy New Year to all of those in the Tampa market! I have run across two sites so far with 8t8r action going on, one of them is near me. I don't know how I missed them, but I've been pretty busy and sure it didn't take them long to add it to the site. Now just waiting for them to make final updates to the airport. Some work has been done there, but other carriers have been at the airport updating their equipment lately. Let's hope for a great network new year.
  7. I'll have to check it out. I'll be back there on Sunday. I've been working in Michigan for two months and am now back in Tampa. It wasn't on the other day when I was there so good to know they have it working now.
  8. Nothing new in the forum for a bit, was hoping to see some new progress in some locations, especially the airport. They still haven't fired up the site there as I flew out of there this morning and still getting connectivity out of Veterans Expressway site. I've been working in the East Michigan market for the past two months, then off to Pittsburgh for a week, and hoping that some more progress is seen when I return back to Tampa in the next two weeks. I've been following the map updates, but nothing really exciting going on there, seems to have stagnated a bit, but I suspect some of that is due to backhaul delays.
  9. So that's who was there last night. I flew back in to Tampa last night and saw the traffic going in and wondered who was playing there
  10. Yes, that latest tower turn on did great for those in downtown Tampa.. awesome. I'm regrouping today and back at working up in Michigan for a couple more weeks. Hoping more site work gets completed on my return. Keep up the reporting on Tampa folks!
  11. I get similar signals inside Tampa airport from nearby towers but will be much better once they get all the work done at the airport Marriott site and flip the switch.
  12. I'll have to update more when I get back to the Tampa market. I am working an assignment in Michigan for a month and will only be back in Tampa on the weekends. Surprised how many areas I have been so far in the lower, eastern parts of Michigan where I haven't had LTE. Hoping next weekend on my return home that some of the sites I have been monitoring are completed.
  13. As of today, 25JUN, they are still working on the Tampa airport site at both the antenna and cabinet levels. As far as the downtown site I mentioned, it wasn't broadcasting LTE today. This area, as well as the airport, seems to have a bunch of work going on so hope to see some improvements at both places soon. When the downtown site broadcasts LTE again I'll map it.
  14. Downtown Tampa and Tampa Airport Update: On my way home today I thought I would cut through downtown which I do every few weeks. Today to my surprise, as I usually look up at the Masonite Corp. Bldg on Jackson at Florida Ave., is that there are new Sprint antennas installed there. I quickly flipped over to check and sure enough they are up and running. That was quick and I am sure there are some very happy folks now who work in downtown Tampa as there is some nice LTE there. I'll cut through there tomorrow and map it on Sensorly as I wasn't mapping on my way home today. At the airport today they continued work on the antenna and RRUs pictured in my previous message. Hopefully they will get this going as fast as they did the downtown site, which hadn't had any work up until now.
  15. Ok, here they are... This antenna and RRUs are mounted on top of the TPA airport Marriott hotel. Some are on the hotel structure itself (which most of those are newer and didn't conform to the old having to paint them the color of the hotel). I have watched numerous companies all install those. Just above the hotel, companies put their boxes, usually painted the color of the hotel. (I reported previously that the cabinets seen in this photo, that aren't painted, were hoisted up a long time ago and a bunch of work done, but then nothing after that). Then, just above that is the old revolving restaurant that closed not too long ago. On the very top, there are a myriad of antennas. But what cropped up there on Thursday 19JUN14, was the single antenna with multiple RRUs, right in between a widely spaced set of thin white antennas. I'm hoping they are Sprint and this site can be completed soon and the area sites that are in the process of having work completed done with better call and data quality. The shot I took was from the top of the parking deck. From the ground its tough to see. Could not take a photo of the other side. Here is a shot of the entire hotel.
  16. Ok, most in this board know I work at the airport and have been keeping an eye on the site, which seems to have been down for some time, as well as area sites in some sort of in-progress type status. A long while back I saw new cabinets, which looked like Sprint ones, hoisted up on top of the Marriott hotel site that is inside the airport. I thought we were moving in the right direction and then nothing for a long period of time. What has also been difficult, because of the strange way they have had to mount and paint everything on the site, with a myriad of carriers up there, it has been difficult to tell whose setups were on the building. Other carriers have all installed new antennas up there with different ways of making their installs conform to whatever standards the owners have required. A couple of days ago, it was promising to see on the very highest point (above what was the revolving restaurant which closed not long ago), folks milling around up there. Yesterday, I saw ladders up there. Then, just before leaving work, I saw them install one antenna, which looks to be what we have seen being used for Sprint in TPA for LTE. They also mounted RRUs to the right of the unit on the wall, or at least from the ground that is what it appeared to be. Being it was as high as i was I couldn't get a good look at it, but Sunday I will go on the top of the parking deck, where I can be level and fairly close to it, to make that determination. I'll pop up a few photos here on Sunday evening. With any luck, they will get this one up and running, as well as the other surrounding sites and avoid many of the issues that I, and others, have been experiencing.
  17. Aside from the B26 eCSFB issues, it really has been a while since we have had any more progress in the area with more sites still needing upgrades. Things seemed to have slowed up for a while now here.
  18. You're right. I work at the airport. More times than not I am roaming in different spots in the airport. I don't think the airport site on one side of the building is even operating. When at the airport inside the bldg and outside I seem to be connected most to the Veterans Expy site. Not sure what is going on, but at one time I thought I saw the new cabinets put in place, but other than that, all other carriers have updated their site at the airport on the Marriott, but not Sprint. It's frustrating that my colleagues all opted for other carriers who have updated their site at the airport and I'm awaiting the day that Sprint completes the work there. I am sure there is some reason for the delay.
  19. Well my assumption was correct. The tower closest to me in Riverview, FL (Panther Trace), had LTE down for a little less than a week. As I mentioned, it came back up and tonight I noticed 1 X 800 on my phone (S3) tonight so I assume what they were doing was the 800Mhz upgrade.
  20. Yes, still have the S3 and its working well. Anyway, today the LTE on the site started broadcasting again. I haven't had a chance to take a bicycle ride by the site to see whats going on, but its a very accessible tower, and I kind of expected it to get 800 soon. Interesting that in my area of Riverview, there is another tower not far from me in the middle of all of the upgrades that have occurred that has not had any work done on it yet so far.... just a dot on the map and as I ride by it occasionally it doesn't appear Sprint, or any of the other carriers, have done any work on it recently.
  21. Is it normal to lose LTE when a site transitions from a 3G/LTE status to adding 800? The only reason I mention this is the site closest to me that has had LTE now for sometime stopped LTE last Thursday.
  22. It will be interesting now to see how our area achieves completion. There are still some sites not yet showing any progress, albeit a small amount, and in the critical areas near the airport as well. Working at the airport I have to say I've never roamed so much before in areas I used to have a great signal. Right now I think part of the system at the airport is down... has to be.
  23. On another note, I drove by an old Nextel site near me today and surprise, all the antennas were gone from the tower. Nothing left on it.
  24. Well the upgrades in the area seemed to have slowed. There are still some sites not yet with upgrades. Hopefully those would be soon as if other sites are completed one would think there would be more resources to complete the rest.
  25. Ok, nothing new to report on any areas I have seen upgrades going on, including the airport where nothing seems to be happening since the apparent changeout of cabinets. I do however want to comment that after spending time in the Lakeland area, even with all of the sites having at least an LTE upgrade, with the exception of maybe two, that I was surprised at the coverage there (both voice and data). I found myself a great deal of time, while mostly on the western ends of Lakeland, roaming more than I really thought I would be. Not complaining, just commenting
