Network Vision/LTE - Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands Market

today I feel like throwing my Evo LTE against a wall, it simply will not connect to EVDO.

numerous profile and PRL updates, and even ##786# factory resets later, it's still connected to 1xRTT... short of returning it to stock and getting it to a store (which I'm trying to avoid), anybody have any ideas?

having issues all the way from Hato Rey to Bayamon, so I'm thinking it's more a handset issue, rather than a network problem

Maybe nv is on way this week on the area.

Probably.... Near Mayagüez happens every now and then.... And the NV is almost ready in this area so be patient....

Its a network issue because I am having the same problems with my iPhone 5 and I'm in Old San Juan. I am also having problems with certaing apps/websites that just wont load. I cant oppen any twitter app or the mobile site via safari/chrome and cant use pandora/slacker but iHeart and Songza will work. Its kinda a weird problem. Hope it is getting fix soon.

I'm having network issues also, when ever I try to do a speedtest it gives me an error. Hopefully its NV related and not an outage or anything like that ;)

Looks like you don't even have EVDO there.

I just don't know what to think... I got the Evo LTE in May, but I've noticed some issues with it getting stuck on 1x on and off since July or August, we also have an original Evo 4G and a 3D at home, and those don't seem to have those problems.

right now the solution seems to just keep on keeping on, hopefully NV is close to rolling out in the area, like kendog mentioned

thanks again everyone!

There're 3 sites around that area, 1 antenna is near Walmart @Mayaguez Mall, other in direction of Cabo Rojo (La Bajura) and the closer one to see if it have NV equipment is the tower in front of Burger King and Church after Ricomini in direction to San German.

Ok, I am sure something was changed. I clocked 2144 kbps while in Hormigueros (Pueblo), 1945 kbps in Lavadero and right now 1822 kbps at Mayaguez Mall. On the other hand, I got around 200 something at Mayaguez' plaza.

    • Your referring to the $25.00 a month Infinite Unlimited plan?  I don't see any other plans on there even cheaper than that on their website.  I was looking at the Motorola 2023 Edge fwiw as well for $10.00 a month.
    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
