When I first had had sprint I had found them well awful at the time barely got a few kilobytes on evdo nor did i get wimax on my evo 3d at the time. Would anyone say that sprint has gotten way better than they used to be a year or two ago? Inside the gym I visit where I find I use most of my data I'm only getting one or two bars of LTE on at&t so I don't know if going with sprint would be a good option. Thank you and reading over this forum has been a fun and informational read.

Sprint has changed dramatically since the Wimax days, and if you haven't tried them since you had an Evo 3D, you'd be amazed. I have LTE almost everywhere I go, including inside most buildings.

An IKEA just recently opened in the Kansas City metro.  I saw a DAS there.  But to get coverage, you had to assemble it yourself.   AJ

That sounds good to me, but I know that its still based on Location. My usual day is in Quakertown and Allentown, I'll have to see if its a good time to switch.

My home tower is a clearwire site and it's still slow as molasses.

Sorry to dig up an older post, but it's hard to follow all threads all the time ;)

 

Anyway, unless your site was on the second round of B41 upgrades and has Samsung dual mode RRUs, you may not see a whole lot of improvement from that site until it is replaced with Sprint B41. Some Clear sites are capable of a second B41 carrier and CA. But only a limited number were deployed that way.

I drove by Cabelas (Hamburg, PA) yesterday and had a strong B41 signal. I don't remember that being there a few months ago. I'm guessing it's a new install. I come up this way every few months and see improvements every time I come, which is a good thing.

Yup, it's gotta be a new install because we never had Wimax up here. The whole Lehigh Valley is pretty blanketed with B41, even in some oddly rural places. It took a WHILE but NV is finally paying off up here (and has been that way for about the past 6 months at least). I actually stopped running SCP because I have LTE everywhere I go now.

The Parkway DAS was labeled a dud during 'made in america' a few weeks ago. at&t recently launched 10x10 Band 4 & upgraded band 2 to 15x15, and I still have issues at times. I don't have a CA enabled phone though. Verizon seems to be stuck on 5x5 band 2 often and their 15x15 Band 4 isn't very fast either from reports on hofo.

 

I'm considering Sprint, but it doesn't look like they are too good in Chestnut Hill? At&t seems to do fine, even in basements (we are house hunting). Does anyone frequent that area-I do know they are the only carrier to not be on the Philadelphia Dance Company old chimney located here:

at&t, vzw, and Sprint all need to work on getting on board with DAS in Philadelphia. I know VZ and at&t randomly do in places in the suburbs but T-Mobile seems to have the most in the city.

I am around the area often as I live in Roxborough/Manyunk and it's decent but nothing to write home about. I can at least make a phone call or text at the worst. :P

They have already started wimax clear conversions to carrier aggregation in the Philadelphia metro area.

Im assuming you meant CA upgrades, not conversion.  By your PLMN your still connecting to Clear equipment with CA support.

 

Man, all these CA upgrades all over the place and nothing yet in NYC...crazy!

      After several months of testing, an update to SignalCheck Pro is rolling out on Google Play. It may take up to 48 hours to become available for download. Notable changes include: Added option to display site notes for NSA 5G-NR cells. Enabling this new option (Preferences > Display Settings > Show NSA 5G-NR Site Notes) will cause the app to make an "educated guess" as to what the most appropriate site note is linked to the connected NSA 5G cell, using the PCI and the device location. If it finds an existing entry that is likely to be relevant, it will display the note along with the distance from where the strongest signal from that cell was logged. While connected to NSA 5G, these notes cannot be edited; a valid NCI is required to add/edit notes and that information is not available on NSA connections.   Added option to log cells with missing/invalid PLMN (such as NSA 5G-NR cells). Users asked for the ability to log data for NSA 5G, so a new option (Preferences > Logger Settings > Log Cells with Missing PLMN) will permit this.   Added option to display LTE info above 5G-NR info. Enabling this new option (Preferences > Display Settings > Show LTE Cells Above 5G-NR Cells) shows the same information that is currently displayed, but moves the LTE information above the 5G-NR information. Other changes: Code optimizations and enhancements. Improved Android 15 compatibility. Overhauled Purchases module. Resolved force closes impacting some GSM/LTE connections. Resolved issue with improper 5G-NR PLMN display when NR/LTE PLMNs did not match. Resolved issue with improper PLMN display with single-digit MNCs.       Stopped by again today and the antennas are up but it isn't live just yet. If other Sprint conversions are anything to go by it'll likely take about a month for the site to go live.

      It is an Android bug that was reportedly fixed in August 2023 but definitely has not been. I have implemented numerous workarounds in SCP to correct the NR bands the app displays. The OS ignores the possibility that many NR-ARFCNs are valid across multiple bands.. it reports the lowest NR band that is valid for the current ARFCN. In your example, channel 432530 can be n1, n65, or n66.. so the OS just (lazily) reports n1.   Awesome, thanks! I will add an n65 override also.

      Yeah both of those instances were on my AT&T s22 ultra. Seems ro be working as intended today in latest release.
