Woohoo, I just saw the huge CDMA 800 updates in Vegas.  Hopefully that means I have no voice issues when I get there in about a week.

Good luck. I still have issues occasionally, and calls go straight to voicemail sometimes too (happened to both me and my wife yesterday). Those problems aside coverage and data have improved exponentially since this time last year. Still not perfect though.

It seems like that all calls from Tri-Band phones are being processed by CDMA 800 sites. I always like the small roaming indicator to show up when you make a call. I drove along the 215 beltway North and there is almost full B41 availability. Northern Las Vegas seems to be now all B41 plus I-15 to the airport. Some weak B41 coverage at the airport.

B41 now on the majority of towers in the LV area. 52.26%(162 / 310)

I think that number will grow because I have seen more and more B41 sites each time I go. I hope locations like Primm get B41 too because this site handles a lot of traffic on the weekends.

How is the new B41 on the strip? Has it improved lately?

As of my trip there about 10 days ago, service on the strip was horrendous. The little bit of service there is way, way over capacity. Service elsewhere in the valley was pretty awesome.

Sprint needs to activate more 8T8R on the strip.

Actually every place in the LV MSA; B25 coverage is decent in places like Green Valley, Summerlin,

and other burbs but is more "hotspot" like than what I would call "coverage"; what really shines

in the Vegas MSA is the upgraded 3G coverage...it truly is awesome..way better than in my sister

city San Diego where I am at this moment..

I have been having mixed results so far.  I am in and around the LVCC and some of the hotels on the strip.  I have pretty strong LTE signal and my hotspot has been excellent.  My phone on the other hand seems good on LTE but the phone coverage has been the issue for me.  I have had many calls that I am only getting every third word or so.  Upon retrying the call it works great.

In my hotel I am noticing really slow speeds and weak LTE/3G signal.  I tried using the hotel internet but it seems like crap so I tried my hotspot.  After having such good coverage on the ground I was surprised.  I am guessing it is related to the downtilt of the antennas and being 30+ floors up it just does not work that well.

This and the fact that you're receiving signal from too many weak to moderate signals that it is producing interference. The noise floor is way high.

how can you tell the tower number and band your on with an iphone? The tower I use from home  has issues, anytime our iphone 6 uses this particular tower all calls go direct to voicemail. However our sons iphone 5s receives calls fine from the same location.

Sounds like an ecsfb problem with the spark side of that tower. Dial *3001#12345#* then "serving cell". That will show your band and a decimal value of the connected tower. Convert that value to hex for the true gci. From your own dbm/sector id observations (sector will be the last 2 of the gci), you should be able to use the sponsor maps to get the Sprint tower id to report trouble to Sprint tech support. The actual tower number you see on the maps here have a name, but I can't think of it right now.

I drove around Las Vegas last week and I NEVER lost LTE. Drove from Nellis AFB to the M Resort via LV Bvld and no 3G. Even along the Strip, in places a weak signal but sill LTE. Saw B41 a lot and just while driving the core of the Strip, noticed B25.

Would not call that a Hotspot coverage.

At the corner of Horizon Ridge & Eastern RSRP: 72; 6 bars of LTE B25; go 1 1/2 miles east to the Target and new

Sprouts store...no LTE..6 bars 3G; go 1 mile North on GV Pkw to Paseo Verde->no LTE..great 3G; go into the

Whole Foods Parking lot (1/2 mile further north)..new B41 4 bars of LTE..go inside Whole Foods 75 ft..no B41 but

fringe B25 at 112 RSRP; go across the street to the District..sit at the Coffee Bean no LTE but great 3G; this is NOT

coverage..this is HOTSPOT..now I readily admit the new B41 towers have just been lit up and they shouuld fill

in these sorts of holes..maybe that's the case now on the strip..most of us locals don't spend a lot of time on

LV Blvd..just saying..

BTW, North County San Diego is way worse than what I just described in Henderson; there are portions of

92057 and 92056 that I actually go to Roaming with my Zing and/or smartphone..not even 3G..my first bill

from Sprint was in 1995 for a hand-held wireless email device..I've paid the price & then some..I want

Sprint to make it..they've come light-years in the Vegas valley in the last year

Henderson only has about half of the towers live with LTE. You should know this, you can see the maps.

You cannot compare Henderson with the rest of Las Vegas were the LTE completion rate is closer to 90-95%.

I guess the South of the city may still have some issues. Northern parts, Summerlin and Downtown are LTE all the way. I will be back to Las Vegas soon and see what has changed.

Horizon ridge/Green valley tower is 100% legacy tower ( I always loose service going north on Green Valley from horizion ridge).  Whole foods and the district are serviced by a b41 tower that is on the north-east corner of 215/Green Valley (smiths parking lot).

B41 Update: 55.16%(171 / 310 towers live)

So I just spoke to a customer with a M8 HK.  She was having calls go directly to VM.  Outgoing calls worked just fine.  It was fixed by turning the device in CDMA only mode.  Looks like there may be some issues with fallback on incoming calls.  Just wanted to give a heads up

I have noticed that on some Triband phones when you are in a data session.

Not for Vegas (yet)

  • 5 weeks later...

I just saw band 41 on my sprint line this evening at Craig and Simmons.

B41 has been up and running in many areas in the city for some time and more and more sites are going online. Las Vegas is a full 8T8R market because the Clearwire equipment wasn't able to handle WiMax and LTE.

    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
    • "The company’s unique multi-layer approach to 5G, with dedicated standalone 5G deployed nationwide across 600MHz, 1.9GHz, and 2.5GHz delivers customers a consistently strong experience, with 85% of 5G traffic on sites with all three spectrum bands deployed." Meanwhile they are very close to a construction deadline June 1 for 850Mhz of mmWave in most of Ohio covering 27500-28350Mhz expiring 6/8/2028. No reported sightings.  Buildout notice issue sent by FCC in March 5, 2024 https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/letterPdf/LetterPdfController?licId=4019733&letterVersionId=178&autoLetterId=13060705&letterCode=CR&radioServiceCode=UU&op=LetterPdf&licSide=Y&archive=null&letterTo=L  No soecific permits seen in a quick check of Columbus. They also have an additional 200Mhz covering at 24350-25450 Mhz and 24950-25050Mhz with no buildout date expiring 12/11/2029.

They're completely avoiding talking about mmWave.
