i saw rumors today of the new Note 4 but the talk was about screen size and display resolution. if its introduced this fall as usual i would surprised if the sprint model did not have Triband. lack of B41 would be a serious oversight.
  3. Spouses GNII got the over the air update this afternoon. mines still showing not available, grrrrrrr
  4. 5 has gotten so bad that I started using 99 now. For a good portion of the central valley its 3 lanes and in better shape than 5 now days with a good bit less trucks and a bit more interesting scenery to look at along the way.
  5. Same thing happened to mine this last weekend. Although i thought it was the phone. Did a wipe and reload. and did not discover SD card was corrupt until i try to reload apps that use the SD card and the install failed.
  6. Probably overloaded and no recent wind load/engineering study done. the tower should not fail in that type of situation. Looking at the amount of feedline coming out of the building and the gauge of steel it was inevitable.
  7. An interesting take. Chattanooga's local Utility stepped up to the plate. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/fastest-internet-service-in-us-found-in-an-unlikely-city/ And on the opposite side Kansas tried to float a bill by the cable industry to ban municipalities from offering internet services until it got some exposure and blow back. http://cjonline.com/news/state/2014-02-05/wire-cut-senate-bill-banning-municipal-broadband-networks
  8. OMG this is what we use. I have hated from day day one. Old phone system used to have recordings of Sacramento Symphony, which been defunct for at least 10 years. I pity anyone that has to sit on hold and listen to this....
  9. Do you know someone with a USB Wifi adapter you can borrow to narrow down if its the internal WIFI on the PC or the AP in the Library? once in a great while you get 2 that just wont connect to each other.
  10. I've done a ton of Dragonwave Licensed links and now playing around with a couple of UBNT 24GHz AirFiber units. For the price point you really cant beat the capacity for short line of sight links. They just brought out a 5GHz version as well but im trying to stay out of that band due to more and more WIFI equip in that band.
  11. Rice is an Iffy thing. Gone that route and just for grins pulled the phone apart and it was still damp in areas. it might work for a awhile but corrosion will set in. Only way to be 100% is to pull it apart and use a hair dryer/qtips, not for the faint of heart. You can also try immersion in rubbing alcohol. That will displace the water. At this point any warranty is voided as you have triggered the internal water exposure dot. if you battery was in dispose of it properly! if it was exposed to water its is compromised and could self combust
  12. Daily Driver 06 Hummer H3 Dream: 68 Mustang Fastback- Currently in the Paint Shop- should be on the road again next summer
  13. Andrew, has been in the antenna business for years, Long before cell phones even.
  14. Not Surprising. Subs are under real pressure to complete sites. and the carriers are probably hiring subs that are construction based and have no tower experience. There are people jumping into this field because the work is there who have no business beiing on a tower in the first place
  15. I would say off hours is a maintenance window to do software patches/upgrades and reboots to address issues.
  16. your a Sponser, The data is here. a bit of reading/searching can go along way for you to answer your own question.
  17. Monopoles are usally under 100ft. everyone wants to get at the sweet spot around 60-100ft so spacing is tight., Tall towers (anything over 90ft is considered something that need a Beacon on it) Higher is not always better unless it s low density site trying cover large distances
  18. Toying with the settings will probably only determine how long you hold onto a signal that might not be usable. LTE for my phone holds it till about -115 to -117 before dropping. At that signal level the data link is pretty much un-usable. I would rather it drop to EVDO around -110-112 to avoid data stream disruption. Your phone/radio is what it is. Any tweaking would more than likely adversely affect your connectivity
  19. What CA cities are mandated underground facilities? I never heard of such a thing. I know its a requirement in new subdivisions in most places. AT&T Just pulled aerial fiber couple of months ago in front of my place. I wish it was underground. I have 3 giant copper cable bundles overhead directly in from of my place Funny thing is I was in Europe last summer and some of Cities with 300-500 year old buildings have no over head utilities at all and these buildings were around before electricity was discovered.
  20. Most fiber run to site will either be CWDM or DWDM Muxed. Telco will provide a pair or single strand of Single Mode Fiber hand off to provide either 1 GB connections or 10GB (still quite pricey) to each Colo at that location. Each wireless provider then does a VPN tunnel over the link back to their Switch center. Microwave is more common than you think., even in Urban areas. Sometimes it not cost effective for the special construction costs to do fiber last mile. Microwave is a pretty quick cost recovery to back haul to a central site versus paying by mile tor MAE(Metro Area Ethernet) to each location.
  21. Clear is still advertising in this area, Just got a flyer in the mail this week and looked it over until i realized it wasn't a very good deal
  22. Ordered mine interested to see compatibility. As I use VLC Streamer to stream movie collection from HTPC to tablet/phone. would be cool to be able to send that to non-internet enabled TV via Chromecast as well.
  23. Same here in CA. My bill runs about 150.00 for basic cable and Internet and that's calling them every 6 months to get a "Deal" on ether TV or internet. Otherwise it would be upward of 175.00. Too far from AT&T CO and on an old cable plant from the 50's to get Decent DSL Speeds and No Uverse and Comcast knows it! I wish options to play off each other. On the Other Hand Have VZ DSL at a rental property in Southern CA was paying $29.99 a month for the last five years for 1.5 MB DSL, that just had a rate increase to 34.99. Switching to TWC Internet for 15MB down 1.5 up for $ 34.00 deal for a year. Looks like when that year is Up will see what VZ will offer on New DSL Service.
