I'm finally on a consistant signal at work. ~10/5mb. it's nice to finally have it where i use my phone the most since our internet usage is monitored.

IF the equipment is that much larger, engineering will definitely be a factor in the tower structure. However, wind has to be accounted for in the tower design, depending on height, structure type, overall load plus excess load in it's initial construction. So i would say unless it's a big dish, such as microwave, the towers are designed already to withstand most of those issues. -

What a terrible LTE and Pandora experience I had in Vegas over the weekend. I had LTE in the Rio that was as fast as 14.4 dial up, if I stayed connected at all. The voice and sms was fine but the data was tough. I went to Henderson also, and it was ok there, but there is definitely work to be done. For the ride to and from Vegas to LA, I could not keep pandora going at all. iHeart worked, but not Pandora. I hope this gets better soon.

Heat and pressure. Metals and even glass can bend without breaking if exposed to enough heat/pressure over time.

We could limit it to sponsors or premier sponsors. I only bring it up because of the amount of discussion that has been going on with sim cards available for the N5 and there are a few members who seem to turn over on tech quite often. Besides, if you're not a frequent visitor to the site, things can get lost and overwhelming in the GT threads. Besides who wouldn't like to know about great deals like a 39" 4k UHD tv for $500 or less on tigerdirect.com or the awesome spoofee.com

I believe that would only be if they were selling wares themselves. This would be a peer-to-peer type marketplace.

I know this may seem like something that is not feasible right now or may be too over-whelming, but I figure it may not be a bad idea to have an area where we can have a bazaar of sorts. We can discuss items that can be had at a bargain online or elsewhere, people can sell, trade, buy goods from other members. It’s done on many forums and there is always risks, but I’m sure we can find add others to moderate it and I’m sure we can put some safety measures in place to minimize the amount of fraud or potential to scams. Just an idea, since I know we have a lot of techie’s on here and there are always deals to be had and others with tech to sell. Thoughts?

Glad folks are ok. These storms are crazy, but they are needed as far as our future in agriculture goes. The flooding helps in replenishing the water table.

Taxes and fees vary by city/county/state. There are "mandated" fees that sprint assesses per the fed that are passed on to you. If the service is free, but you add the $10 unlimited data, then you pay the fees that are mandated and taxes on the $80, I assume, otherwise it is based on the services provided which would be the $70.

First, after recent updates to android, anything using 4.2 or higher shows the data signal strength on the bars instead of 1X. AJ went over this some time ago in this thread. As for the speeds, i thought Texas was just not well backhauled.

You pay a higher price for the phone but get a year out of two years free, unless you refer people to the same program, then you add a year of free service.

1) Android phones that have i believe 4.2 and up now show the signal on the data side as compared to the 1x side, so you are seeing your data signal strength now. 2) you may need to call sprint and ask them to check to make sure your meid is in the system. i had that issue when i first got my One.

I will say this, there has been no progress on 4G. Look at the signature below me for info on getting that information yourself. Don't have a McRib combo once this week and instead use it for the site. That sounds like what others have experienced when sites are being upgraded from Legacy to newer equipment. It could be backhaul, some other equipment, etc. but with Spark being live in the LA/OC area, 3g will always come in first, so it could be a cluster before 4g is up.

The upgrading firmware isn't the tough part, it is understanding the program and setting things back up the way they were. For me it would be a whole weekend trying to figure it out.
