  1. At home in my basement where my office area is, the G2 will hang on to LTE around -130 and I get 2-3 Mbps down, 1-2 up with ping in the 100-150ms range. If it gets much lower it will drop to evdo. Band 4 is available here, but I don't know what the channel size is. I've only seen two reports of it from LTE discovery in the log. I didn't mean the wider channel makes for a stronger signal, just that the signal will be usable and the phone holds on to it at lower signal levels. I don't even know if that's true, it just seems that way from my experience. It could be some other factor which is what I was asking about.
  2. I've read on here a few times that wider LTE carriers provide better performance at the outer edges of coverage. Is that not the case, and the better question to ask is what does that even mean? I thought it meant the wider LTE carrier will provide more usability at lower signal levels, ie further away from the tower or with more obstructions. An example would be the VZW LG G2 I was issued for work. LTE on that device seems to work at much lower signal levels, -130 to -135. Where as when my Nexus 5 on Sprint reaches around -125 and LTE becomes mostly unusable and it switches back to evdo. Is that a characteristic of the wider 10mhz FDD carrier VZW has deployed vs 5mhz, or the frequency 700 vs 1900, or something else all together?
  3. On my evo LTE it would manage turning Wi-Fi on and off, as well as LTE when I was in areas it remembered I had signal. It worked pretty well for me, sometimes I wish I had it on my nexus. I wonder if it can differentiate different LTE bands and remember where you can connect to what.
  4. It does not hand off calls to the macro network. If you leave your WiFi coverage it will drop.
  5. Yes, stock. Android 4.4.2 with Samsung software version T217SVPUBNE7.
  6. I started picking up LTE at west genesee st and Onondaga blvd in Syracuse right by Fairmount Fair. I couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from but it is new. It seemed like towards camillus or down 173 towards Warners. Its nice to see the coverage expanding out beyond Syracuse itself.
  7. Google play won't let me install it on the tablet, it says your device isn't compatible with this version. I haven't had a chance to see if I can side load it or not.
  8. That's great to hear, I would probably use it several times a week just at home on WiFi alone. The price is kind of steep but I'm already in the market for a hotspot. I've had the $10 1GB add on plan for my phone, and while it works just fine I would much rather have a dedicated device. Using the tether plan seems to kill my nexus 5s battery pretty quickly and no svdo/svlte kind of limits me when I need it for work. The fact it can also charge my phone is another huge plus. I work out of a delivery truck and between my GPS and cordless tool battery chargers I have no other way to charge anything. If it does indeed work with the 3GB plan, I'll probably be walking out of the store with one in hand as soon as they have it in stock. It would essentially only be $25 more a month since it would let me get rid of my tethering plan. Also, not sure if you can answer this or not. Is there any reason to get one of these on easy pay? Last I saw, signing up for a mobile broadband plan required a two year agreement regardless which makes the subsidy way better.
  9. When streaming with it, do you need to use its own data plan or can you stream from the phone or WiFi (as in using the projector part with my home broadband connection)? The more I read about and think about it, the more I want one. Usually if I'm buying a device directly from Sprint I try to go through my local retail store since they usually help me out and I think they deserve the business, but I may have to cheat on my rep and buy one online. Also, do you know for sure if all three of the broadband plans work with it or only the 6/12GB as shows online? I may end up going with the higher plans anyway if the only way to play Netflix is via its own data plan.
  10. My nexus 5 has been on that series of prl for as long as I can remember having it. What should be loaded on it?
  11. I went back into the store today to see if they got the livepro yet. They told me it should be in around the 27th. I also asked about which plans are available for it and was told any of the plans including the 3GB for $34.99 should work on it. I mentioned the website only showed the 6GB and 12GB plans and was told it probably only shows them because they expect people to stream video and it would eat through the 3GB quickly. Has anyone been able to get one with the 3GB plan?
  12. I've been using the pro version of this app for about a week and I have to say I'm impressed. I really like the LTE log feature. I was wondering something though, is there any particular reason it isn't compatible with my galaxy tab 3?
  13. I haven't had any eCSFB issues in Syracuse since March that I've noticed. I haven't been running the test radio on my nexus for a while so I can't be sure, I do randomly get kicked to 3G all over the city though. I didn't notice how bad it was until I started bringing my tablet and left signal check LTE notifications on. I'm wondering what's causing the hand off problems.
  14. So far it's looking like a fluke, I've had it with me at work today going all over the city and scp doesn't even register on the battery use screen. I'll look at it later tonight at home after its been connected to my airave for a while. I only posted in case there was some setting I might have had on and didn't realize. When the site logger/GPS feature came out I turned it on and didn't realize how large a drain it was. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything since it normally sits in airplane mode with only WiFi 95% of the time.
  15. It had roughly 20-25 hours of uptime since last reboot. I had looked at signal check earlier but it wasn't pulled for more than a few minutes, it was minimized by pressing the home button. I was connected to my airave, so signal should have been fairly strong. I don't know if its related, but my nexus will connect to 1x on the airave and then bounce evdo around between it and the macro sites. I didn't really pay attention if it was doing that on the tablet or not, but I've never had it keep awake on my phone before.
  16. Any idea what's causing this? Normally my tablet sits on airplane mode while on wifi but I forgot to change it back after work on Saturday. Neither the site logger or location is enabled as far as I can tell. This happened on my Samsung galaxy tab 3
  17. I hope so too. I intended on walking out with one yesterday with the 3GB plan, if they had it in stock. If it does indeed require the $50 plan or higher I will likely stick to my add on hotspot plan on my phone.
  18. I went into a Sprint store yesterday, and while they didn't have it yet the manager told me the 3GB plan would work with it, even though the website is showing what you said. I wonder if it's an error.
  19. Current rating does not matter as long as it meets the minimum the phone needs. Voltage is what will cause stuff to go boom. Think of it this way, you can plug a tiny 12v test light into a car battery and nothing bad happens even though your battery can put out hundreds of amps. The phone's charging circuit works the same way, as long as the voltage is correct you could use any size battery you wanted.
  20. The lower Framily requirement's are nice, I hope that rolls out over the current Framily offering. I've had some interest in other people joining mine (currently at 3) but not until the rate gets lower. It would be a bit easier to recruit. The family share data plan seems odd, who would take 4 lines with 10GB when 4 lines with 20GB is the same price?
  21. I had to restore my nexus 5 after doing this. Being connected to WiFi didn't seem to help, but it didn't have self activation in settings.
  22. Does the expiring roaming contract apply only to area's previously serviced by alltel, or is it everywhere Sprint relies on VZW for roaming? I ask because huge areas of rural upstate/central New York are only serviced by Verizon and it would really suck to lose that roaming coverage.
  23. I just noticed the white sticker on the back of the phone has mostly faded away, like the ink rubbed off or something. What was on it, and at this point is there any harm in peeling it off?
  24. Are you trying to say, you are connected to evdo and signal check isn't displaying it? Because your signal check screenshot shows the same 3G connection that your phone's status bar is reporting. 1X is 3G.
