  1. Yeah, that works. It got old switching LTE on and off every day. I forgot to do it twice and missed a couple of important calls so I reactivated my EVO for the time being. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
  2. I just hope they come up with something. My nexus sits on my desk unused while I suffer with my evo because of it. One of the five towers circling my house went live with LTE and the signal is just strong enough for it to latch on and hold and cause missed/dropped calls.
  3. I wonder if this could be a work around "fix" for Airave's and tri-band phones without needing to disable LTE at home.
  4. I've had TEP since I became a Sprint customer in 2006 and have had two devices replaced under the plan. I'm pretty careful but accidents do happen and have been happy I had coverage. The first time I slipped going down some stairs and watched the phone tumble down the concrete steps about 30 feet. Surprisingly only the hinge cracked slightly but I paid the $50 deductible to replace it. The second time was with my Mogul. It had some weird software problem where it would chain open messages while connected to cellular network. The repair guy couldn't figure out the problem and told me to file a claim. The problem stopped a few hours after I filed but I kept the new (refurbished) phone anyway since I was told I couldn't get my money back anyway. I tried to use the insurance a third time with my EVO 4G. I had slammed the phone down and the viberater came loose or something. The repair tech said he ordered parts but then next week the store was gone and I never did get it fixed. It sucks paying so much for the premium and deductible especially on the higher priced stuff but I keep it for the same reason I keep full coverage on my cars. If my nexus 5 ever stopped being more than a paperweight/micro tablet I might consider dropping coverage since the device was so cheap buying it outright. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
  5. I was looking at this map here today http://www.800ta.org/_img/figures/img_canadamap.jpg. Does that mean Syracuse will get cdma800/lte800 before the border mess is sorted out? Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
  6. I fully expect at some point for the subsidized phone buying model to go away, sooner than I'm hoping as well. For the time being, I'm personally better off staying with UMW. Its a hard habit to break, getting phones for next to nothing with contract pricing. I'm just not ready to jump right into the new plan model yet. I will probably make the change in two ish years when my second line is no longer under contract. I've already pondered the notion of paying full price on devices and it doesn't seem that bad. I can easily afford it, but in my case my device was free so why not. Some people seem to hate service contracts but I don't mind them. Its not like I was going to change wireless service providers anyway unless I moved to a new area without native coverage. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
  7. Unlimited my way: Line one: $50 + $30 (unlimited data, discounted to $23) + $10 (1GB hot spot) + $11 (TEP) Line two: $40 + $30 (unlimited data, discounted to $23) Total is $157 + taxes and fee's Framily should look like this. Line one $50 + $20 (unlimited data, discounted to $16) + $10 (1GB hot spot) + $11 (TEP) Line two: $50 + $20 (unlimited data, discounted to $16) Total is $153 + taxes and fee's Roughly four dollars a month is not nearly enough savings to give up subsidized phones. I got my HTC EVO LTE for free last January and my HTC One for $30 on black Friday, both from Best Buy. Framily would be great, if I had more people joining. Even if I had the maximum discount, I don't know if I would come out on top factoring the cost of the $600-$700 phones every two years for my situation. By the time I can even convince one person to switch I'm betting the $15/month waived per subsidized phone switching over will be done with. Discount amounts were rounded, I get 22% off. 8. After asking everyone I know that isn't currently a Sprint subscriber, not a single person was willing to switch for framily. Looks like ill be staying on UMW for my two lines for a bit. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
  9. The way I understand it is you are still bound by your service agreement if you were under contract and switch to framily. You get an annual upgrade as part of the $20 unlimited data add on if maintained for twelve months via easy pay.
  10. I have yet to see any ads using Tapatalk. I'm using version 4.3.4.
  11. Is the deductible being eliminated for tep if it is two or less replacements in a year? Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
  12. One thing I haven't seen mentioned, unlimited my way plans have a $10 1GB hotspot add on per line that isn't available on everything data. Its one of the primary reasons I switched. They have the option to throttle video streaming to 1 mbps but I haven't noticed any changes. I thought it was happening to me but I realized HD was being disabled by default. As mentioned above, the discount applied to the data portion of the line, so $20, or $30 is discounted. I'm not sure if its intended, but on mine every line's data portion is being discounted, not just the primary. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
  13. I just spent the last day reading through all 82 pages of this topic. The only thing I really have to add is about roaming. One of the reasons I am on Sprint and not T-Mobile is because of the roaming agreements they have. I'm confident I can make or receive a call/text pretty much anywhere a cell phone can even be used. I don't venture out into the sticks often, but when I do it's reassuring I can make a call to a friend or a tow truck for example, if I needed help. I don't need high speed data in the middle of nowhere, but I do need my phone to function as a phone. Until T-Mobile fixes that, I will never consider them as my primary wireless service provider.
  14. I would assume pricing is locked in as is any other plan you might be on, but I haven't read the fine print. I've been on the unlimited my way plan for a few months now, and I haven't noticed any video throttling of any sort. Granted I don't sit there and watch full length movies on Netflix, but I do browse a decent amount of YouTube and haven't noticed any changes in video quality. I'm wondering if they only do it when the network is loaded in your area.
  15. I used to be on an everything data 450 plan and changed over to unlimited my way. My cost did go up slightly, because my discount only applies to the data portion $30 vs 69.99. The unlimited voice was a bonus, but I wanted the $10 1GB hotspot add-on and it wasn't available with everything data 450. I've only really used the hotspot once, but it was worth it. Having my friends AT&T HTC One need to tether off my Sprint phone to download his android 4.3 update because AT&T only allows updating via wifi was priceless.

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

Thanks. I'm starting to wonder if there is something up with my device itself. I wouldn't ever consider 12mbps slow, since I get by just fine with 1-2mbps on 3G all the time. I was just curious and had time to kill, I figured with such a good signal and direct line of sight I could pull some better results than that. Google Wallet's tap and pay NFC feature hasn't been working for me lately, I wonder if it's somehow related. I don't know if it's the app or NFC on the phone since I don't have any other devices with NFC to test it out. And completely unrelated, I love your app. It was the first paid app I ever purchased from the play store, even without trying the free version first.

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

Are this phone's LTE problems only with obtaining and maintaining a LTE signal or also in LTE performance? The other day I was nearby one of the towers facing the panels ~300 yards away with a -62 dBm RSRP signal and managed 17.06 down, 1.68 up with 126ms ping at about 5am. While these speeds are great for anything I would do on a handset, it just seems like it should have been better with such a strong signal. This was the best result, of the 5 tests I did the average was 12.19 down and 2.54 up and 105ms ping.
  18. I used to use Sprint TV a lot when I had my first phone (Samsung SPH-A900) back in 2006-2007. I was pretty happy with the service back then with the tiny screen but when I got my first smartphone I lost interest because of added capabilities on the new phone. I had forgotten about the service until a couple of months ago when I got a Sprint Zone alert/spam/ad and gave it a try. It still worked pretty well but I didn't find myself using it much. It seems like it would be near worthless with the loss of those providers but It's understandable with how much they want to jack up the price to broadcast their content.
  19. Being in an ALU market with Lucent being the legacy vendor, with all nearby 3G sites accepted and some 3G/4G, should the phone work fine right with LTE connectivity? Or do I have it backwards based on the problem patterns? Coming from an EVO LTE I am really looking forward to increased LTE reception but haven't ordered this yet. I would probably hold off for a while if it will have problems in my area.
  20. As a few others have said, Best Buy carries the sim cards if you are having problems getting one. BBY sku is 8802047 (upc 760492013536) and current sell price is $29.99. I'm an employee so I didn't pay nearly that much but it was quick and easy once I found out what the sku was (the first BBYM employee I asked said we only had a few nano sims for iPhones's without even looking). Every store in my district had at least 10, I would be surprised if most other big box/bbym stand alone stores aren't the same situation. The product sku doesn't show up on bestbuy.com for some reason, so you'll need to call the store or go in and ask.
  21. Hi, I have been a long time lurker and finally decided it was time to join the s4gru community. I have learned a lot just by reading through the forums and hope I'll be able to contribute to this great site you have built.
