  1. I'm not a beta tester. I wasn't sure what that logging setting was, glad I wasn't missing it somehow. Its back to normal now. I hadn't changed any settings and there wasn't an update (that I noticed) so that's why I asked. It makes sense that it could be something with KitKat. I never experienced anything like it on my EVO or Tab 3. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  2. Any idea what's been causing this? The last week or so signal check has been at the top of my battery use almost every day. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  3. I figured the fit/feel as well as durability/bulk would be similar with just different sku's for the various carrier versions. So I thought I would ask and see what you all would recommend or use yourselves. I've sort of followed this thread from the start but it's pretty big to search through. I'll check out XDA, thanks for the info. I didn't think to look over there.
  4. My Sprint work phone is being replaced with a VZW variant of the G2 next week, can anyone recommend a decent case? I was just going to buy an otterbox, but it said (and every other case we had) that it was for non VZW versions so I couldn't try any of them out. Ideally it would be something similar to an otterbox, or a little less bulky. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I didn't see an accessory thread like the Nexus has.
  5. I don't think it's so much eCSFB as the tower can't hand off to the Airave when the phone switches to 1x take/make a call from LTE. The only solution they gave me was to set my phone to 3G only mode when at home.
  6. Until WiFi calling is added to every phone, its not when using a triband device. If I don't manage to latch onto 1X800 when I take a call, it will drop on me unless I force the phone to 3G when I get home. I still need my phone to work as a phone reliably above anything else. 7. I added Google voice (full integration) last month and still get the messages. I'll try calling customer care, I tried webchat before and they didn't really have any information about what the messages were let alone how to stop them. Thanks for the info, the texts have been driving me nuts. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  8. My airave is free. Its been working great for over a year (Airvana 2.5). Since changing my home ISP to Verizon FiOS it's been even better. I had some call quality issues and choppiness using it with Time Warner. I only wish my Nexus would connect to it from LTE. I get -115 to -120 PCS LTE at home, and if I forget to change it to 3G it will either connect to a weak -100 PCS or a decent -80 to -85 1X 800 signal to take the call. It just makes me look forward to 800 even more. I don't know why, but my EVO would never connect to 800. It would roam on Verizon instead, it will be nice when 800 is widespread and available for use. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  9. Do you know how to make that stop? I had VVM on my EVO and I get spammed all the time. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. It would be nice to see a roaming allowance increase if LTE is allowed. As it is with 100MB I'm perfectly fine with 1X. Its way too easy to go over even with just EVDO. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. I've been on the newer plans that include the supposed video stream throttling for a while now and haven't had it happen to me yet. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  12. That would be a lot of subscribers to lose on top of what's already leaving. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. Google Play Services randomly decides to pillage my battery. Some day's I'll go from 6am to 5pm with 90-95% left and others it will be down to 50% by noon with no actual use.
  14. I use auto brightness. It seems to stay dimmed on its own most of the time unless direct light is on the tablet. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  15. Not many posts about this, but I'm pretty impressed with it's battery life. Last week I managed 8 days on battery with light use (6 hours screen on time) before I hit 5% battery remaining. I wouldn't have thought the stand by time would be so good.
  16. I used to buy into the screen protector/case hype. I've been using my Nexus 5 bare since I got it and I couldn't be happier. I pulled the case and screen protector off all my devices and just use a leather pouch when I'm carrying them. I forgot how amazing some of these handsets feel bare.
  17. Syracuse has CDMA1X 800 broadcasting now. There is an exclusionary zone around the city. Nothing is shown accepted on the maps yet but my Nexus 5 connects to it any time it drops from LTE to make or receive a call. Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
  18. It wasnt just the weight that bothered me, but the bulk as well. Its literally like taping another phone to the back, and it added considerable more height to an already "tall" phone. I can ask him Tuesday to check how it affects signal strength, he uses AT&T though so not sure if the Sprint version would be effected the same way. Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
  19. I don't use one personally, but the guy I work with does. It would probably save the device in a fall, but that thing turns a beautifully designed and built phone into an ugly hulking behemoth. It's quite heavy but I guess that is to be expected (it feels heavier than holding my Galaxy Tab 3). He get's a free charge out of it, but I would rather carry a second universal battery than deal with the mophie.
  20. The clock on all my devices updated just fine.
  21. I got the same update, no kit kat with this one. Just some security stuff and knox.
  22. I got the Google Nexus charger last week and I have to say I'm impressed with it. Without a case on the phone, the magnet is very strong. I had it mounted in my Jeep and the phone stayed in place charging even through an offroading trip with some whoops at medium speed, and not that I would but the reviews showing the charger attached to the wall holding the phone are legit. It will charge the phone with two socks draped over the charger, but the magnet doesn't work much at that point. For anyone that leaves the phone bare, or uses a folding pouch I would highly recommend it. If you use a case any thicker than a dvd you would probably be better off going with a cheaper wireless charger as the magnet doesn't do much at all the further the distance from the pad.
  23. The last time I asked about the spark update, the chat rep told me they had no idea and were just basically waiting on Google. Then they offered to walk me through manually enabling bands 26/41, setting priority etc. They even took the time to explain how to find out what band I was connecting to via engineering screens. For a second I thought they might have been a s4gru member, it was kind of awesome. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  24. I can barely see the back light leaking through one spot on mine, but only when its in day dream mode with the screen darkened and showing the clock. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  25. I've been using the android version for a while. It doesn't have ads and provided more information than ookla's speed test app. I did however notice it always reports my LTE signal level as -111. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
