  1. The GPS coordinates are your approximate location. Map them out. They are not the location of the server.
  2. Yes, hold the power button and touch home, that will take a screen shot. Not really, any app that claims to locate your tower does not work properly in the Kansas City market. The towers broadcast locations that are not accurate most of the time. Your best bet is to become a sponsor which will give you access to the completed tower maps, and market tower locations. Using your signal strength and other properties you can make an educated guess at which tower you're connected to.
  3. Unfortunately that's fairly normal for the EVO if you have a competing 3G signal that is stronger (signal wise but not speed) than LTE. What part of KC were you in? Johnson county has the densest deployment so far, but the north and east sides of town are catching up.
  4. Those speeds are double or triple what many people are seeing on Sprint 3G right now, so you should consider yourself lucky.
  5. Give the location that those wires are running to, and that they appear to be for one panel, I would say that this is a Sprint site.
  6. The first picture is likely the Sprint panels. The second picture is definitely not Sprint.
  7. Is your phone in CDMA/LTE mode? If it is in CDMA Only mode it won't pick up eHRPD
  8. What parts? I'm going to try and scout out the towers this weekend to see if there is any new equipment on them.
  9. Samsung must do it differently from HTC. With the EVO, as soon as you heard about people getting updates you could go into settings, check for the update and pull it down. If you waited for it to be pushed, it could be away but you could always initiate on your own. Guess you can't initiate the update on your own with Samsung.
  10. Has anyone gotten the update through the phone rather than downloading it from the web? I checked for an update, but nothing is coming up. Yet anyway.
  11. Actually, I think that is a typo. I believe it is supposed to say 2012. If it was the line that said completion date, it'd sound right, but launch date? Pretty sure that's supposed to be 2012
  12. Parts of the Northeast will probably still be dealing with tropical storm force wind gusts (35-55mph) through Wednesday. It's possible that crews may not be able to get out to do much power restoration, let alone cell tower work until then.
  13. There is an iPhone app, Apple just doesn't allow it to collect data.
  14. No no no. Everyone knows that Kansas is the heart of the Midwest. At least that's what they teach us in school.
  15. It's not supposed to be a tropical system. It's going to be some sort of tropical/extratropical hybrid system. And "just a cat 1" completely underwhelms the magnitude of this thing. It is going to be much more expansive than a normal hurricane, pushing a lot more water onto the shore than normal, and it is interacting with another system in the mid-atlantic ocean that is will be cause a huge fetch of water to be pushed into the Northeast, combining with full moon astronomical high tides, and you get extraordinary coastal flooding. Then there's the possible foot of rain, and blizzard conditions possible over inland areas. This could be a Nor'Easter like none other. Not to be an alarmist, there's still a lot to be pinned down, but it's very concerning.
  16. Sandy has the potential to delay everything on the east coast. Already talking evacuation possibilities along the Chesapeake, Delmarva, Jersey Shore, and NYC areas. (Not making excuses for Sprint here, just giving the forecast)
  17. eHRPD has also been reported in markets where there is no work occurring. It is a software update that can be applied remotely, and has been seen anywhere from a few weeks to several months ahead of when physical NV work starts. It doesn't mean anything unless you actually see crews in the area and new equipment going up on towers.
  18. Actually, on the iPhone, I believe it just shows "Cellular." Something about all of those things that Apple doesn't give access to. I'm not sure how you check on the iPhone. Regardless, it's not really important whether you have an eHRPD signal or not. The only time it matters is if you have LTE, and then need to switch to 3G. Since there is no LTE right now, it's not needed.
  19. Other than workers on towers? Probably not. Unless something blows over, but I don't expect that to happen.
  20. Not necessarily backhaul might not be hooked up, not hooked up correctly, not feeding through the panels, any number of things. The signal might just be on for testing, but not really available for data flow. Members in Wichita, KS have reported very slow speeds with a good LTE signal for a couple weeks, and then all the sudden it jumps up to normal with the signal staying the same. Now, if Sprint had announced that Miami was LTE ready, then you might have a problem.
  21. Speeds will likely fluctuate quite a bit, as will signals since the market is still in it's infancy, NV wise.
