  1. In most cases you will have coverage inside. It's just a matter of waiting at this point! In densely populated areas, each cell site can have a foot print as small as two blocks, so if you were nearly a mile from the site, it's very possible that you were at the very edge of the footprint for that site, and just adding the extra interference of one wall was enough to degrade the signal enough that it was unusable. Once other sites in the area are live, they should be able to provide the needed coverage.
  2. Building penetration will be MUCH better than WiMax. Similar to that of Sprint's 3G. However, (all) LTE signals are more fragile than 3G, you need a stronger LTE signal to be able to use it than you do for 3G. However, in your case, what you are experiencing is most likely due to the way cell sites are deployed in a city: densely with a severe downtilt creating very small footprints. Once more sites are upgraded in that area, you probably will stop having that problem. But keep in mind, that no carrier guaranties LTE coverage inside. The variability of building construction materials and the effect they have on cell signals makes it impossible for the signal to penetrate all building.
  3. Probably not a good assumption. If they are deploying anything like Sprint, then they are doing whichever tower/site has backhaul in place first. If downtown has good 3G coverage, but spotty 4G, then there are probably several sites still to be upgraded. I would give it until Thanksgiving to make any big assumptions.
  4. Even if the tower was complete, there is no way the panels would show up on Googles street view. Those images are at least several months old at the best, probably over a year old. Any new panels would only have been there a month at the longest. I can't tell for sure, but best guess is that Sprint is the second rack, but really not sure about that. Not even sure if this is a sprint tower.
  5. Everything that was listed as improvements in this update was done with the last update, so either someone made a huge error, or this is a hoax. Only time will tell.
  6. Neither of us are in LTE areas, so wouldn't know, but so far I have not seen any reports of any issues. The JB update was supposed to improve LTE connections, so I couldn't imagine that it would get worse.
  7. Ok, just checking! We've had a few people reporting LTE while using an EVO 3D, which of course isn't possible. Thanks for your reports!
  8. Very little difference after the update, works just as good as before, however I still prefer the EVO even after two weeks of using the GS3
  9. Looks like Sprint will continue their trend of updating coverage maps before posting the official announcement of LTE coverage in new cities! From what I can tell, it looks like we will be seeing LTE announced in: Northeast Massachusets (Northern Boston area, several communities) Southbend, Indiana Muncie, Indiana Anderson, Indiana Salina, Kansas
  10. You mean like these? As far as I can tell the panels are mounted on the pole itself, and then covered with the outer cylinder. For looks I imagine.
  11. I saw that.... makes questionable to me.... or a huge typo on HTC's part. I guess we'll see.
  12. Sprint's/Shentel's are fairly distinctive vs other carriers. If you can get a picture, we can probably tell you.
  13. It looks like it could be to me! A clear picture would help of course, haha. You can see the locations of all of Sprint's towers in the sponsor's section, if you would like to donate. Not a requirement of course! Just wanted to let you know.
  14. Switch if you must, no one here is going to force you to stay with Sprint, just don't complain to us. There is nothing we can do about it. This site if for people looking for information about Sprint, not a place for people to complain. Just know that you are in an active deployment area, and are going to see the results of NV a lot sooner than most people in the country.
  15. There is no announcement for the soft launch. Soft launch is allowing the signal to be discoverable. Which is happening. The only time we saw an "announcement" was a leaked document telling employees that Chicago and Boston were in pre-launch mode.
  16. Soft launch already happened.... soft launch means they allow the LTE signal to be discoverable. And you're right, the original idea was they were going to launch a MARKET when 30-40% of sites were completed. They changed that, they are now doing individual cities or metros for PR reasons. When the Miami metro reaches 40% will be different than when the Miami market reaches 40%. They will be able to make the announcement and add Miami to the coverage maps long before the whole market is close to being done.
  17. Please ask in a sponsor forum, we cannot discuss site specifics outside of the sponsor forums. Also, there really is no way to tell on any site when it will be live, the only information that Robert has is when a site is accepted by Sprint as complete. The only way to know when it is broadcasting a signal, is to actually see it.
  18. They aren't really looking at number of sites, but their interpretation of the coverage provide by the currently upgraded sites. Looking at the coverage on sensory right now, if expansion continues like it has the past several weeks, they may be at a launchable position by mid December. Work will continue well into 2013 to finish all the sites, and coverage certainly won't be 100% even in the city, but there would be enough for a launch.
  19. It varies. Most often, there is hardly any down time between when a tower is accepted and when the signal is live. Many times the signal is live before the tower is accepted. However, there are instances when a tower is accepted on paper, but there is no signal for some time, even weeks. However, this is the exception rather than the rule.
  20. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-335-sprint-marketing-updates-4g-lte-city-list-where-work-is-under-way-and-adds-9-more-communities/
  21. It sounds like there is additional equipment inside of the building, because a -67dBm signal inside a hospital, in the basement no less, is very impressive. I don't believe there are and towers, even right above the location, that would give a signal that strong. All towers are part of the NV upgrades, but I think additional equipment for hospitals, ball parks, malls and such is on a different plan.
  22. We probably won't see an official launch until mid December. But LTE will become stronger and more widespread with each passing day as more towers are completed.
