  1. That, and so it can support that LTE network. Without faster backhaul in place, there is no LTE.
  2. Just curious, doesn't anyone listen to the radio anymore? I mean the real radio. I've never understood the need to stream music in the car.... but anyway.
  3. The Network Vision overhauls are putting better backhaul in place. The current internet sources for Sprint sites are too slow to keep up with demand, so they are putting in mostly fiber and microwave sources to provide much faster internet speeds and greater bandwidth to accommodate more users. So in that sense, the new backhaul will make your connection faster.
  4. I'm not really sure what you're not understanding here. Every cell site in the country has some sort of backhaul in place that is used for phone calls, texts, and data. Without it, there IS no phone.
  5. Just so we're clear, the "NV Upgrade" is both 3G and LTE. Most likely, you will see LTE go live before you start seeing the 3G improvements. That's the trend in markets where Ericsson is doing the upgrades, which they are in the Nashville market.
  6. It is the connection to the internet. Doesn't say anything about how fast it is.
  7. To see the sites completed maps, you need to be a sponsor of the site. If you are not a sponsor, the link won't work for you. As far as marking sites complete, but not being live, there can be any number of reasons. The equipment can be installed and be functioning, as to make the site itself complete, but there may be some issue with connecting the new equipment into the network, backhaul might not be finished or any combination there of. However, it usually does not take long for a site that all of the equipment sign off to be connected into the new network. Usually no more than a couple of weeks.
  8. That actually sounds about right.
  9. I was in Nevada, just happened to be on my way home lol. But Nevada is part of the Kansas Market, so unfortunately no related to Joplin. Last time I was in Joplin (before Thanksgiving) there was no sign of work being done. There are a bunch of sites that are completed, equipment wise from Nevada north to Harrisonville on US 71, but no signal from them. I could even see the little green lights on the RRUs as I drove by.
  10. Hmm.. Then there is probably something wrong with your phone. I have heard about a few issues with iPhones connecting to CDMA networks... don't know much about it though. You may want to get your phone checked out. There is no reason for it to drop the connection while looking for LTE, unless it is erroneously thinking there is an LTE signal, trying to connect, and not finding anything.
  11. It was about the rollout speed, not the network speed. Probably best to leave well alone.
  12. Try the "map trip" function (make sure to hit start). That sure provide the data for the maps we are looking at. If it's only giving you an error on 4G, there may be an issue with data with the site still being in testing or something.
  13. What do you mean it "keeps trying"? If you have your phone in CDMA/LTE mode, it will occasionally scan for LTE, but it won't try to connect to a nonexistent network. If you phone keeps dropping the connection, either you have a weak connection or there is something wrong with your phone.
  14. It doesn't affect the network in any other way than to aid with the handoff to LTE. It will be needed everywhere, so they might as well do it. It will not affect that data connection on your phone.
  15. eHRPD is a software upgrade that can be applied remotely, it is available now in most markets, even markets that do not have any NV work going on. Normally large clusters or even entire markets are upgraded at the same time. It has little to do with speeds or anything else, it just helps the hand off between LTE and 3G.
  16. I noticed a blip in downtown St. Paul. Can anyone confirm that? If so, that's good news. It's not downtown Minneapolis, but it's progress!
  17. There is more than one carrier on that tower, they may not be working on Sprint equipment. That's why I asked about the RRUs, so that we can know for sure that it's Sprint work.
  18. Settings >> About >> Network >> Mobile network type See what it says there. The icon at the top of the phone won't change. It's still 3G.
  19. Don't think we've had a thread yet, so this'll do! We don't have any fresh information lately other than what we've got posted in the NV Running list thread. Myrtle Beach should still be on track to start in Q1 or Q2 of next year as it is a 3rd or 4th round market. Sprint is about a quarter behind in production, but that shouldn't affect the start of new markets. More information will be posted when we know anything!
  20. There are several towers in the Charlotte market that are broadcasting LTE, and in the area you described. Below is a map of the LTE reported in your area so far. As far as reception, the EVO has a history of not latching on to LTE properly, but otherwise I haven't seen any issues with it maintaining a 3G or 1x signal. When you say it is weak, are you talking bars or speed? http://sensorly.com/...int#q=Charlotte, NC
  21. I would say there is something wrong with the network, or the core like Robert said. It almost looks like the LTE equipment is falling back on the legacy backhaul or something.
  22. Two questions, do you know if this is a Sprint tower? And are there RRUs* being mounted behind the panels? RRUs are the boxes behind/next to the panels you can see in this image.
