  1. Verizon is actually in a bad place right now. The only band they can expand into is AWS. They would have to cannibalize their fully loaded 3G network to use 1900 and 850. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

  4. If your phone says extended in an area that usually gets good Sprint signal you are roaming. Try turning airplane mode on then back off. If your phone still says extended the Sprint site may be down. Call Sprint customer service and report the outage.
  5. They are certainly on at least a few. One of my sites as well as Robert's (I think) are SBA sites. Nice find!
  6. What is the best deal on the HTC One for a new line? I'm getting off of my parents family plan which will allow my sister to take my place and she wants to get one of these for as close to free as possible. I know the Sprint store has a $100 credit for switching to their service which she qualifies for making it $100 there. Does this credit apply at other stores? Is there a better deal elsewhere?
  7. You are allotted 300mb for roaming it really doesn't matter how you use it. Running a different PRL can improve your experience with EVDO speeds. Its 300mb no matter how you slice it. Flashing a purely Verizon PRL to use for daily use is irresponsible but Sprint knows how to deal with that if contractual terms are breached. We are not Sprint, it is not our responsibility to ensure users follow their terms and conditions. There are legitimate reasons for enthusiasts to flash custom PRLs. Locking down discussion of their use because you dont like them is a selfish and a worthless attempt. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  8. it is interleaved in 25khz channels of use to no one but iden operations. Buying out the other licensees to make it contiguous may be costly.
  9. The device still has carrier bloatware and IS boot loader locked and encrypted. Playing chicken with T-Mobile CS to unlock the device is different than it was before in a bad way. It used to be any T-Mobile account that was in use for at least 90 days (prepaid or postpaid) was eligible to unlock its device. Now you have to bs your way through some sort of loophole. Tmobile's service without a subsidy apples to apples with Sprint is $70 a month vs the $79.99 plan that includes q subsidy or if you aren't an idiot the same $70 a month through the employee referral program anyone can use. So I pay 86 to 90 a month through T-Mobile for my unlimited service and a subsidy which reduces to $70 after the device is paid for Or..... I pay $70 a month for Sprint postpaid through the employee referral program. Sure it doesn't reduce after 2 years but its the same price as T-Mobile's Unsubsidized plan for the whole contract and my device is boot loader unlocked! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  10. T-Mobile's device is still both network and carrier locked. You still owe the company money after cancelling service. No, it isn't different.
  11. We used to have those in Tulsa. I always thought they were some type of wind speed measuring device.
  12. At least our Galaxy S 4 has an unlocked bootloader (unlike all the others), so we just have to wait whatever minimal time the devs need to port the Google SGS 4 builds back to the Sprint version. Also, the Sprint version is subsidized, so I would argue that Sprint users have it the best when it comes to carrier dev support. Other carriers require you to buy "Developer Edition" devices or these Google edition unsubsidized devices to get official unlocked bootloaders, (even T-Mobile now!) but not Sprint!
  13. New APEX theme Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  14. I get LTE in my home most of the time from that site at 71st and Union (pretty far away). I get around 0.02mbps down. It's actually significantly slower than 3G.
  15. If you want to know where the coverage is look at sensorly. It is a site that has user generated coverage maps. If you install the sensorly app on your phone you can contribute to the coverage maps. EDIT: FAIL, you mapped the new site If you install a touchwiz ROM you can use the LTE debugging screen to track sites also by serving cell. Also, if you become a sponsor at S4GRU you can see which sites have been accepted by Sprint for LTE (usually means broadcasting but not always). There area maps in the sponsor section listing where every Sprint site is located too so you know where to look. Welcome to the site!
  16. They may not actually use all of the RRU's. As I understand it, licensing is a much larger cost than the physical hardware so they can add several RRU's initially and only use two. They save money on the additional LTE license by not using them until they need the capacity. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  17. I found it interesting when the CEO of Blue Grass Cellular (a vzw LTE IRA) spoke so highly of Sprints LTE Roaming platform at the CCA CEO roundtable. He said he loved the idea and that Sprint would provide a great footprint for nationwide LTE services. He spoke of taking back control of their network from VZW with their band 12 700 spectrum in the future. So I'm not entirely certain some of these vzw partners are beyond saving or leaving for a competitive Sprint partnership. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I'm not sure how against the rules it is, but considering you only have 300mb of roaming regardless of what tech you use it on I don't see why. If you want to use Verizon EV-DO while outside of the native coverage footprint, either you need a corporate PRL or the area you're roaming in needs to be a former Alltel area (no custom PRL required!), To get a corporate PRL the latest is 12121 which may or may not give you Verizon EV-DO roaming but it will also give you EV-DO roaming on other carriers like US Cellular (which is better than VZW in my experience). Download the 12121 PRL (google it). Look up installing custom PRLs on the iPhone 5, (there should be guides), then follow the instructions, Force roaming is a different thing entirely. On android phones you can use Roam Control but I have no idea how you would do it with an iPhone (maybe a jaibreak app?)
  19. Well, with cable and DSL companies setting the bar so low it isn't too much to expect really. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  20. We need people with old iDEN phones to watch the signal so we know the exact time the network went down (it would be a hilarious addition to Sprints wikipedia page). If someone still has an iDen phone active it and has unlimited voice it would be awesome to have it on a call then watch it cut out right when the network shuts down.
  21. There is a site in Tulsa that usually fails to transfer any data regardless of signal strength on one of its sectors. You can see -70dbm signal get 2000+ms ping, then maybe 10kbps down and failed upload on LTE. The worst part is the messed up sector covers a huge area along a major highway and makes any Sprint phone that connects to it unusable. When they launch Tulsa, I'm going to raise hell on that one.
  22. Nimby's, I wonder how many of them have called to complain about their service?
  23. What does a T-Mobile merger accomplish though? More mid range PCS and AWS spectrum that is not needed by Sprint, a legacy GSM network to worry about and more customers to serve. I don't think that merger helps Sprint at all except in clout. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
