  1. Hesse stated that 700 b12 support is coming. Watch the CCA 2013 keynote address. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  2. I hope off-network gets redefined with band 12 LTE roaming. I wonder how it will be shown on the map? Off-Network LTE or.......... Sprint LTE (Signal Strength Varies) like the SRAs that came before it. C-Spire shows Sprint's LTE network as native coverage so that's some glimmer of hope.
  3. To support cross carrier roaming with band 12 licensees (US Cellular, Blue Grass, etc.) and increase the economies of scale across the band. It's a win-win, 700mhz A-C licensees can get the iPhone and other devices for lower prices (if they could get them at all before), have access to a nationwide LTE footprint without dealing with Verizon, and receive roaming revenue from traveling Sprint subscribers, while Sprint has LTE Roaming partners who will use their network (roaming revenue through their subscribers traveling out of regional coverage), and further increases in Sprint's economies of scale around their own frequency bands (SMR, PCS G-Block and BRS/EBS)
  4. They are adding band 12 700mhz as well. Near future Sprint devices will have 700 b12/800 b26/1900 b25/2600 b41 LTE radios. So assuming they add 600, future phones will be at least pentaband. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Now you're just spouting anti-sprint rhetoric. This thread is here to discuss the future Sprint SMR band not complain about PCS. On topic, any news of SMR LTE fit testing? Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  6. My brother found LTE service in a rural area that was previously roaming only (maybe the cell site was down for years). Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  7. 500mb full speed but unlimited 160kbps internet which may be faster than legacy Sprint 3G depending on your area. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  8. contemplated, but changing circumstances made it unnecessary for my needs.
  9. You can make it work with some effort though. Go near a Sprint native coverage area (preferrably one with the same PCS license as what Sprint holds in the area you will use it) and turn on the airave while connected to an uninterruptable power supply then leave it on and drive home. So long as the airave stays on it will continue to broadcast on whichever bands it was authorized to broadcast on in the area it acquired its initial GPS signal. After you get home plug the UPS into the wall and move the airave where you need it. You will likely need to purchase the airave off contract too.
  10. I hope Sprint gets back what they lost in damages in the form of a personal check from Ergen himself. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  11. i Hoy es dia de los muertos para el network iDen! Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  12. They'll have to top my "WiDen WiMax Why Not?" quip Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  13. The Galaxy Nexus was known for terrible RF performance on VZW and Sprint. I hear that the Galaxy S 3 on VZW is also known to have less than ideal RF performance especially with LTE (unlike the Sprint version save for cellular 850 performance). You could trade your GS3 for a Razr Maxx or Razr HD to get better performance. If not you could look into purchasing a Verizon network extender used or a cellular repeater. At my cabin (vacation home pretty much) I use both a repeater and an airave, Why? We didn't used to have internet so we couldn't use the airave and so people with other providers could get better signal. Finally, if you feel like stickin it to VZW, you could flash a US Cellular PRL. I happen to know that US Cellular phones can roam onto an Airave I have never heard of a Verizon customer getting in trouble for roaming too much and US Cellular probably doesn't offer service in your area anyway, so you likely wouldn't be roaming (although your phone would mostly indicate as such). The benefit is use of the airave by your VZW phone. The disbenefit is possibly roaming onto US Cellular more than your would have otherwise,
  14. World-class may be the only way to refer to EDGE in a positive manner. I wish someone would have the courage to call them out directly on their massive and deteriorating low speed footprint
  15. It is true that Tmo EDGE is much less burdened than Sprint 1x. Since voice usage on TMo EDGE is going down drastically every month. However, most of the time when I fall off Tmo 4Gs, I'm in an area where Sprint 3G is running 1-2.5Mbps. So the difference between Sprint 3G on highway and rural areas and Tmo EDGE is ten fold plus. Robert from Note 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta Not in Oklahoma. I'm lucky to get 50kbps on T-Mobile's EDGE network here. Streaming or browsing the web usually fail or time out. 16. Sprint is the only carrier I'm aware of that demands unlocked bootloaders on their devices, so I would say chances are pretty good. You should at least be able to flash AOSP builds if you're rooted though, regardless. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  17. That depends on softbank's plans. It could be anything from a few hotspots to nearly covering the entire pcs footprint (excluding highways) Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  18. This is why wireless should be a public service. Private businesses are never content with selling services to customers to collect revenue that both covers their costs and provides sustainable profits, there has to be growth and by growth I mean more and more profit every quarter. It's what is expected from the corporate leadership and its what they're all taught in business school. This is why I give my brother crap for going to business school. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  19. My US Cellular phone (GS4) will roam even with available native signal. It seems to move to the strongest network regardless of whether its native or not. I think its a product of the PRL they use though. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  20. The speed is capped at 8mbps Here is a speed test Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  21. I have a dream that all carriers will willingly become dumb pipes, high end handset prices will fall to the point that contracts are unnecessary and carriers will be forced to compete on monthly service value (coverage, speeds and rate plans) notwithstanding smart phome exclusives. Data will be the only service and the practice of charging for texts or voice as a seperate service will disappear. Macronetworks will hand off seamlessly and securely to any and all consumer wifi networks without compromising the host consumer's service experience. Cable companies will be forced to upgrade their networks to all fiber to compete with the new nearly universally available google fiber service. Ultimately my dream is that some day we will all be able to use the data services we love as they were intended when we want, where we want, and for an affordable price. 22. In my opinion, 1xRTT is 2G in the same way LTE is 4G. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
