  1. Are you guys paying attention to the td-lte thread? Robert had TD-LTE all over Denver where there are very few NV upgrades (TD-LTE on every Wi-Max site he tried). One of you St. Louis guys should get a tri-band mifi and try it out. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  2. I appreciate the info and the sensorly mapping but in the future, please avoid using site names like this in this thread. It's considered a sponsor perk to have access to them and this thread is public. If you want to post about specific sites, its better to post in the AR/MO/KS/OK NV Site Map thread. That way you can use the site names and even use screenshots from the site map to show the site visually.
  3. I have attached a Sprint Airave to a tethered AT&T phone on 3G coming from a signal repeater. It worked and worked well but it was impractical as the AT&T phone couldn't be moved. It was a fun experiment though. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  4. LTE is live in Tahlequah. I mapped some sensorly while driving through on my way to Lake Tenkiller. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Vzw is selling spectrum, they sold a couple lower 700 licenses to US Cellular this year in Oklahoma covering most of the state. Their pricing is higher than Sprint but its still not bad. I think my $90 unlimited plan is worth the price and has great value for the additional lte coverage I can use in my area. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  6. They don't need additional capacity yet Does Verizon have a 750 only LTE network? Yes Are they preparing to sell themselves out, no. The AWS licenses that uscc sold were in non-cellular markets or markets where USCC has no existing presence (or very little) The sale of that AWS makes sense because it is outside of its core cellular markets where meeting build out requirements deploying AWS only would bankrupt them. The money is being used to deploy cellular 850 LTE as a matter of fact. They need LTE 850 for the iPhone. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  7. All of their devices support it. They have been deploying low band lte for coverage and haven't needed to add aws for capacity yet. They likely will once their 850 and 700 lte carriers get loaded. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  8. Why not just leave USCC to continue competing? Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  9. If they bought USCC they ought to use the 850 spectrum. They would only need to buy a new rru for each site. Sprint phones already support 850 1x and Evdo. New phones will support 850 LTE. So the only barrier to its use is a new RRU. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  10. I'm guessing Phoenix is an AT&T only market for back haul. They have quite a few NV 3G sites. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  11. If it is available I would suggest switching to T-Mobile. Their plans are unlimited (but throttled after a certain point) for hotspots and internet plans.
  12. The site at 81st and Harvard is now in progress, the new antennas and rrus are visible. There is still a line attached to the rack. As of now all sites around me have NV equipment (although I wish more of them would broadcast lte) Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  13. TW 4.1.2 already had quick settings in the form of a power menu at the top. It also has TW lock screen widgets (I think)
  14. Mine's working great on CM 10.1 (sorry I had to ) And why do you want 4.2.2 its not much better than 4.1.2 if at all. There are very few new features and the new features it does have are more annoying than helpful for me.
  15. With SMR it will cover more than 3x the area. If AT&T is overstating their coverage (which they likely are due to all areas running on PCS only) then Sprint already has them beat by that much. It still pales in comparison to uscc or vzw though.... Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  16. if you want to get an idea of the disparity look at this US Cellular in Nebraska (checkered is roaming, uncheckered is native) Verizon in Nebraska (mostly native I think) AT&T Native coverage in Nebraska
  17. Buy a contract phone that would be expensive without a contract (GS4 or HTC One) and sell it then use that money to buy a moto x off contract and pocket the difference (use craigslist to get an idea on resell prices and maximize your subsidy). Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I was unaware of this, but nevertheless, some networks can exist without interference in the A-Block (as we've noted USCC) and there is no reason not to support these networks that have coexisted peacefully with channel 51 broadcasters.
  19. Not likely. Southernlinc's coverage is only present in the panhandle. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  20. There's a new serving cell showing up in south Tulsa (159) that is giving me better speeds (3~4 mbps) but signal strength is still low indoors at -110dbm. I wonder which site got updated?
  21. The FCC didn't create a mess with band 12 rather AT&T made a mess with band 17. I've noticed a couple members here have began to take AT&T's side that the A-Block in the lower 700 is to be avoided due to interference with TV broadcasters and is therefore a liability. Well, let me tell you, my 700 MHz A-Block LTE network is working great with great speeds and coverage across the majority of my area (US Cellular in Oklahoma). US Cellular continues to built out its A-Block network at a respectable pace for its size. I find this hocus pocus about channel 51 interference to be nothing but a verbal tactic employed by AT&T to justify its throwing of rural carriers under the bus when it comes to device purchasing. 22. That's the Verizon LTE in rural America approach which doesn't really engender trust from the carriers you're targeting. The appeal to supporting band 12 is that the regional carriers retain control of their own destinies and would be beholden to no one where Verizon's LTE IRA program looks like a catalyst for acquisition. IRA carriers have to follow VZW's plans in pricing, device selection, and technology deployment which in effect makes them nothing more than extensions of VZW like i Wireless is an extension of T-Mobile. If I were running a regional company the last thing i would want is to have to trust a larger competitor to look out for my best interests. With Sprint supporting band 12 it is much less of a threat to these smaller companies that they would be acquired. They can still stand alone with their respective lte networks and partner with someone else if Sprint gets too far away with pricing. The difference between what you are proposing and what Sprint is doing is the freedom these regionals can retain which oddly enough will likely cause better long term relationships between these carriers and Sprint. Also if I failed to mention it, Sprint is working for PCS A-F LTE roaming and cellular 850 LTE roaming as well with these carriers. The band class (26) that enables SMR LTE also covers Cellular 850 frequencies. Likewise band class 25 which enables G block LTE also covers PCS A-F. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
  23. This thread has gotten out of control. Bottom line, Sprint is introducing new plans that are worse than current plans for many people but better for some. Sprint has two problems it attempts to address with these plans, the high cost of roaming and the load caused by streaming services. Is the addition of a throttle a collossal disappointment? To me it is but only for timing. I wish they had waited until the new network really needed it (after 2600 was given a fighting chance) but I expected this to happen at some point. I expect these new plans to become the only available options, but why cry about it? Its not that bad. The only thing that's throttled is video streaming, which I use very little of. Prices are higher for family plans but i'd be willing to bet they're still the best deal for smartphones. My biggest disappointment is that Sprint isn't going to try a value plan financing approach. I've actually come to really like their new plans especially this cool new JUMP program. Their coverage and build style still irks me but I really like what they're doing with these new plans even if they're more expensive than before (see! you can raise prices and still get customers excited!) I think the complaining has gone far enough. This thread probably isn't worth the stress of keeping it open. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 2
