  1. OK, one quick off topic thing I have to get off my chest. Windows Update has to be the worst update system I have ever seen. I have lost many hours of work over it and today I'm making my stand by giving microsoft the finger and disabling all updates. I encourage you all to do the same (unless you visit seedy web sites or often find yourself falling victim to opening viruses attached to email regarding male enhancement products). End rant I noticed some strange behavior today and I must apologize for what I've done. I was mapping the coverage from the newly live LTE site at 11th and Memorial and noticed something interesting, the coverage never stopped. I saw LTE coverage all along highway 169. What set me off was when I tried to put it to a speed test. The tests either failed or were extremely slow. I'm not sure what was going on but I thought maybe the coverage was false so I restarted my phone to my amazement I still had LTE and it still didn't work. Mapping this non-working or perhaps false coverage is called sensorly poisoning. I hope I havent done that. I did notice that the 11th and Memorial site itself acted strangely. When I tested it directly underneath it I averaged 5mbps down with 300+ ms ping times. Speed did get into the 10mbps range occasionally but it mostly stayed beneath that even with full LTE signal. I'm not really sure what to make of all of this but I plan to reinvestigate it tomorrow. A second opinion would be appreciated though (hint hint, Mobilesolutions).
  2. Was it a false connection? I will try to check again tomorrow, maybe with a TW rom too. Has this happened to you before?
  3. EDIT: wrong thread my bad. Digiblur you post in the oklahoma thread so often I accidentally posted in your market!
  4. What I want to be announced What will probably happen
  5. The only thing I think Sprint needs spectrum wise after acquiring clearwire is low band spectrum. The south and border regions won't have the same level of service as the rest of the network due to the lack of usable SMR spectrum for the forseeable future. If these issues persist at the time of the 600 auction, I would expect to see Sprint bid on licenses for that spectrum in those areas. I could also see Sprint seeking to purchase a 20x20 or 10x10 block of that spectrum nationwide if only for the purpose of bumping up average LTE speeds for marketing purposes.
  6. I bet they bid on 600 but probably not AWS unless they plan on buying leap and or uscc next. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  7. ORU was banned from football for 10 years because they were too good. The games are underground now, (like illegal dog/chicken fighting). Making the game illegal added a whole new appeal to watching it. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  8. I suspect based on your signal strength the site is a good distance away from you. Maybe that southern Owasso site?
  9. I44 an hwy 75 has a known live lte site. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  10. You never know with Sprint sites. Remember legacy sites are fed with T1 backhaul, which may have 6mbps of capacity at most per site. It doesn't take much to bring that 6mbps backhaul to full capacity. If there was any sort of gathering (football game, convention, large arrival of people) it will put a temporary heavy load on the network. For example, at the college where I study Sprint speeds are around 400kbps during the daytime but if there is a football game, that drops to ~40kbps then rises almost immediately back up to 400 after the game is over. When I see slow speeds I attribute it to a high load the site can't service. When I see fast speeds I attribute it to a site that either, (at least temporarily), is in state of low traffic load, (which can change with time or events), or an NV site with upgraded backhaul that can handle the load, (on LTE). More often than not, the site is legacy with a low traffic load in those situations. I don't think I've ever seen Sprint 3G over new backhaul in Oklahoma. During NV upgrades the legacy site is left untouched until 3G upgrades begin and typically enhanced 3G (with new backhaul) wont go live until after LTE is live. Current sites which are NV 3G complete appear to still use legacy backhaul.
  11. you can host it on dropbox or imageshack.
  12. It must have just gone active, I was just by there and didn't see any LTE.
  13. I think the proper response to any act like this is to go about life as if nothing happened but tighten security. It'll tell these freaks that their efforts are worthless.
  14. I pulled this from a full build NV 3G site on the way to my cabin on highway 412. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  15. For those who don't know, the Competitive Carriers Association, (formerly the Rural Carriers Association), is a group that consists of carriers allied against the top 2 carriers. It was originally formed to foster cooperation between rural carriers to stay competitive (roaming agreements, licensing synergies, etc). The group having now added T-Mobile, Clearwire and Sprint to its ranks has since changed its name to the current name as Sprint and T-Mobile are decidedly urban focused. The Expo is especially interesting for its keynotes and discussions. Sprint's Bob Azzi spoke at the event last year and let loose a number of interesting slides detailing Sprint's intentions with network vision and spoke of aspirations for LTE roaming with other CCA members. It will be interesting to see if any new progress has been made on that front since the last talk. 16. I just wish they had deployed with SMR Lte from the start and avoid all of these coverage issues. Correct me if I'm wrong and I probably am but couldn't they have pushed all the iDen carriers to the 900 MHz band and proceeded to deploy 800 lte from there without a nextel shutdown? 17. The Sprint site at the Tulsa fairgrounds has new antennas and RRUs present.
  18. At first I was quite opposed to them but their execution has been excellent. The plans really make pretty good sense and appear to be marketed well. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Recall that its 1xAdvanced which can have up to 4 times the capacity of current 1x carriers. Also, later PRL updates will push phones to 1900 carriers first and only connect to 800mhz 1x when 1900 signal is absent. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  20. What? They are still profitable and show no signs of falling as a company. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  21. I don't want anyone to acquire US Cellular. I dont want to see competition reduced.
  22. Which would really be better is something we really can't determine yet. The full effect of the softbank infusion, the addition of the full SMR band and Clearwire purchase remain to be seen.
  23. That would be ideal, but Cellular 850 is spectrum gold that no licensee would let go of easily. Some more rural border areas in the reverse auction seems like a definite possibility though also to add to why its even more ideal, Cellular 850 is covered by LTE band class 26 so Sprint's current device roadmap would still be able to fully take advantage of that spectrum without any changes.
  24. I think some low band spectrum in border areas and SOLinc areas could be helpful but otherwise 800 SMR should be more than sufficient for coverage purposes. We have PCS and BRS for capacity. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
