  1. I didn't find that at all. I was in Atlantic City this past weekend and usually in the middle of the casinos Sprint looses its signal. Verizon must have installed some type of repeater system because they have solid signal through out. My iPhone 5 immediately hopped onto Verizon when the signal (while still showing Sprint service) was showing 1 bar. Never did It show (or I never saw) a searching for service message. I even changed the settings so it would not roam and a Sprint signal reappeared. I switched it back to allow roaming and bang, the "extended" message showed up. Overall I was happy as the iPhone 5 seemed content to stay roaming and didn't kill the battery constantly looking for a native signal.
  2. Should Sprint be interested in Metro PCS? To me, T-Mobile is just going to turn into a prepaid company down the road. Sprint partnered with Softbank, will be getting control of Clearwire and has bought some of US Cellulars markets and customers. I kind of like where Sprint is positioned right now.
  3. S4GRU is mentioned in many other forums. I hope that it doesn't get flooded with Sprint's prepaid or MVNO customers wanting to know why they are not getting unlimited non-throttled data for 25.00 a month, why can't they roam, or that their ZTE Chaser isn't working. I use Virgins service for a couple of lines and it's a great bargain but topics like I mentioned need not be brought here.
  4. I have a question that I don't quite understand. I've searched around and didn't find it or missed it. After permitting is done is there a specific chronological order to a site upgrade? I mean, I know LTE going live is the last (other than future 800Mhz stuff) on the pecking order however, Do they, or must they get the fiber installed first? Can they tie in the old base stations to the new back haul? Can they fire up the new panels to the old base stations? Is it an all or nothing sequence? I had read a post about keeping the existing equipment functional while upgrading but how is that done on a crowded tower?
  5. I enjoy this forum very much and would rather have it member sponsored than all those annoying banner ads in other places. I really think this can/will become the #1 place to discuss Sprint. I'll get to premier.
  6. Thank you, I didn't see the * at the end of the command (this getting older stuff stinks) and once I read your post I ran the command and got a -91 reading. Same spot I would go off into roaming land on the S3.
  7. I don't want to bump an older thread but I just returned a Galaxy S3 for the iPhone 5. My S3 would be roaming in my house while the iPhone 5 is showing 2 bars and I can make and place calls. I don't know how to get the dB reading off the iPhone but the S3 was sitting around -105 when it would catch a signal.
  8. Got the notification today. Haven't had the phone long enough to find out what (if any) difference it made.
  9. Problem solved with my Galaxy S3 I went back to the iPhone 5.
  10. I'm going to go today and try. I'm roaming all the time and a junk Samsung flip phone (on Virgin Mobile) is sitting here with great signal. It's frustrating to say the least. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  11. Yuk, I hate dealing with the repair center. I also updated my profile several times in an effort to see if it got better. I returned the iPhone 5 today and went back and forth between the Optimus G and the S3. I hope I made the right decision, I don't think I can exchange it again. Update: I just got off the phone with Tech Support and while it's not going to help me while out and about they did offer me a free Airave and waived the monthly 5.00 fee.
  12. I am finding the signal strength of the S3 to be mediocre. Keeping it in CDMA only mode seems to help. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  13. I was at the Sprint store in Warwick today. Was told they are currently working in northern RI. They expect RI to be done mid 2013. We need to be patient. I was in North Kingstown today and got 1.85 down on 3G so somethings going on.
  14. It is my understanding that a hard reset is done through the Boot loader menu. This method prevents the OS from loading. Power off device, hold volume down button then power button at the same time. Device boots up, release power but still hold down the volume down. The menu will appear and them use the volume down button to select "factory reset". Confirm selection by pressing the power button. App back up and restore can he helpful but I prefer to reinstall just in case it was an app giving me the issue.
  15. Why the choice of a Firmware update or an HTC Software update in the System updates menu?
  16. Wouldn't the LTE signal issue stand a better chance of being addressed with a firmware (not software) update? Maybe it just has a weak LTE radio?
  17. With my experience during hurricane Sandy the ONLY thing that worked was my cell phone. I guess it all depends.
  18. USCC has a decent POSTPAID subscriber base and coverage that would dovetail perfectly. What should they do, go after Cricket? Softbanks ambitions seem to go beyond Sprint & Clearwire. Sent using Tapatalk 2
  19. I started with Sprint circa 1998 (ish) with a single band Denso Touchpoint. There was no included roaming anyway back then and not a lot of towers. Talk about needing patience. I can remember being in Vegas and having to pay .15 a minute for long distance but there was no roaming fees for simply being out of your home market. Sent using Tapatalk
  20. I don't know if anyone here remembers the old Sanyo (pre Kyrocera era) phones but I swear they had built in signal amplifiers. I had an RL-4920 candy bar phone and while my wife's Samsung would be searching for a signal my trusty old Sanyo would just march on. Even their flip phones were great.
  21. I know that just below you in Providence we won't be getting LTE till the last phase but things have gotten better with the bandage upgrades done as were indicated @ network.sprint.com Sent using Tapatalk
  22. Jango seems to work pretty good even on old fashioned 3G sites. Sent using Tapatalk
  23. Did you get that speed before? Maybe it had fiber installed ahead of the NV upgrade? Sent using Tapatalk
