  4. It is scheduled to be under way now. However, there has no been any sites accepted complete from Sprint yet, and we have not had any reports from the field of observing work, yet. Robert
  5. Since I can side load PRL's on the fly with the GS3, I don't mind not being able to force roam. I just load a VZW PRL. I have a shortcut by AnyCut on my main menu screen and it loads and reboots. And with the fast GS3 reboots, it's only a hair longer than it took Roam Control to get me back to a 3G data signal. This was really convenient for me when I was in Waco and you wanted me to try the 12124 PRL. I just downloaded it to my device through the Sprint LTE. Renamed the file in ES File Explorer and clicked my Anycut shortcut, rebooted in 12124 in the HEB parking lot waiting for my wife. Robert
  6. Yes. Yes, I do. If Sprint did that, it would be the only market to date they have done this in with their LTE deployment. Sprint is upgrading its entire network in a program called Network Vision. Network Vision involves removing and replacing every single piece of hardware on every single site in the country, and upgrading the backhaul to support ultra fast wireless broadband connections. And while they are upgrading each site to new Network Vision standards, they are also adding LTE. Adding LTE while they are there for Network Vision upgrades is a pretty small deal, all things considered. So Sprint is deploying LTE on every site of theirs nationwide through early 2014. So I do believe Yuma will get LTE deployments with Phoenix and Tucson. Just like New Bedford received LTE with Boston, Joliet is getting LTE with Chicago, Athens is getting LTE with Atlanta, Wichita is getting LTE with Kansas City, Waxahatchie is getting LTE with Dallas, Galveston is getting LTE with Houston, New Braunfels is getting LTE with San Antonio, Annapolis is getting LTE with Baltimore, etc., etc. Sprint is deploying LTE over entire markets and upgrading its entire network. It is not focusing on specific communities within those market boundaries, because all the sites need to be upgraded. Sprint's deployment looks so much more different than Verizon or AT&T for this reason. Because it doesn't end at the edge of the Metro Area for major communities. It goes to the end of the market boundary. Robert
  7. I take it you have a device other than the Samsung Intercept listed in your profile. Because you will never get LTE with that thing. Robert
  8. Which is exactly the issue for VZW LTE at my house. I live right next to a VZW tower, however, there is no LTE live on it. The nearest VZW LTE site is 3 miles away. I only get it at the front of my house with a weak -95dBm RSSI (-120dBm RSRP). It's still good for 4-5Mbps with such a weak signal. However, I cannot get VZW LTE in the back or downstairs of my home. But if they were fully deployed, I would have a -65dBm RSSI all over my house. Robert
  9. Depending on how you define underway. If underway, you mean working on backhaul and setting base cabinets, then yes. However an active conversion of sites is just beginning now. Not a single site has been accepted as complete from Sprint yet in the Minnesota market. Robert
  10. In Los Alamos, our VZW LTE speeds are often in the single digits. Most of the lab workers use Verizon. They need to add more sites for capacity. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  11. Verizon only has a frequency advantage for LTE, and that will be only for the next 12 months or so until they start their LTE 800 deployment. Sprint is already deploying voice on 800MHz now. In a place where Sprint has full LTE deployment, Sprint's superior site density makes up for the frequency difference. However, this will only be in areas that have all sites fully deployed. 13. Do they roam on Verizon LTE, or are they a Verizon Rural Partnership or Verizon MVNO? Robert via ICS Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
  14. I'm still in shock over this. I didn't see this one coming. For me, simultaneous voice/data is a novelty. However, a lot of people around here value SVDO as a high priority. This seems to be quite an oversight. Robert Robert
  15. LTE roaming would be subject to a new agreement. I have a feeling Verizon will not let anyone roam on its LTE network, unless compelled to by the FCC. Robert
  16. All things being equal, yes. 3G data rates should be about the same. However, sometimes a newer device may have a better radio and may be able to connect to a farther site that has a faster internet connection than your current device. But this scenario would only be possible if you are in areas with good site density. In rural areas or in an area with very spread out sites, this would likely not result in any difference whatsoever. Robert
  17. More and more sites will be going live in the Boston area over the next few weeks. I spent Labor Day weekend in a well deployed LTE area, and it was awesome. Enjoy! Robert

    Ouch! Sorry to hear. Robert
  19. I can read Spanish pretty well, but others cannot. So, please keep all S4GRU forum posts in English (or provide an English translation as well). Gracias! Robert
  20. Not so much coincidental. You can be connected to the same 1x site as LTE site. But it's important to note that the signal strength shown is never LTE and always 1x. But in the instances where you are connected to the same site for both, the signal strength may be similar. Robert
