Place to see clearwire conversions?

Hi. I was wondering if there was a website that maybe sprint ran where I could see which WiMAX towers were converted to LTE. There is a particular tower very close to my home which still has not been converted and November 6th is coming fast and I'm starting to get worried. So if anyone could let me know if a place like this existed that would be great.

Sprint has not released that sort of information. If you become a Premiere Sponsor, the site does have historical data on Clear sites and whether or not they were scheduled to have LTE added. Plus, you'll be supporting a great community!

The rest of the conversions will probably happen after Nov 6th and Sprint will likely replace the antennas with Nokia panels. They'll probably get it going mainstream by mid 2016.

Are they planning to leave coverage holes from Nov. 6 until whenever they replace the panels because my house will be affected...

Also I do want to become a donor very bad - it's just that I can't right now. Soon though.

What do you mean by coverage holes?

Or Samsung or ALU ... depending on the market.

I mean like by my house. If they shut off the WiMAX and put on LTE panels later, for the time inbetween, I will not have service.

Your profile says iPhone 5s. Your phone doesn't support Wimax.

I agree the iPhone 5s dosnt support WiMax only 3g/4g LTE. Are you using WiMax for your home internet service?

Does your clear site broadcast B41? Do you not get any Sprint service at all otherwise?

The clear site does not broadcast B41 and the service is like -100+ eHRPD/1x or Verizon roaming at my house.

There is some WiMax thinning going on. It's possible your site could be converted before Nov. 6, but either way you are likely going to be without good service for a while. Is Clear your home ISP?

Clear isn't my main home ISP but during the winter, I use the hotspot A LOT because the power and Internet go out often.

Your profile indicates sponsor level status now, so you can check out the Clearwire maps. Any WiMax to B41 conversions have been completed. Now we are waiting on Clear to Sprint conversions to ramp up. If you look at the NV sites completed - changes list, you can see there have been several Clear to Sprint conversions over the last few weeks.

Ok. Now that I am a sponsor I will check out the maps and see. Thanks!

with that kind of signal you should get an Airave free from Sprint. http://www.sprint.com/landings/airave

5s doesn't support b41 anyway, so unless they convert the clear tower to full b25/b26/b41 build, he is going to be SOL regardless.

Thats why he should get wifi calling working.  works great at my house.

Ya I set up wifi calling on my moms iphone 5s and did mine when I got the LG G4. Wifi calling works wonders out here in the boonies.

Doesn't iPhone WiFi calling still rely on the macro network for sms or mms? If that's the case he might be better off with the Airave until that is fixed.

I will be getting a 6S when it releases on sep. 18 or whenever so I will be able to access B41.

    • Kind of amazing that T-Mobile is still holding onto that speed title despite Verizon all but killing off lowband 5G on their network. While Verizon is mostly being evaluated on mmWave and C-band performance, T-Mobile and AT&T's average 5G speeds include their massive lowband 5G networks that are significantly slower.
    • 5G in the U.S. – Additional Mid-band Spectrum Driving Performance Gains T-Mobile holds on to it's lead in 5G Speed
    • Yup. Very true. We were originally on an Everything Data 1500 Plan, which got Unlimited Minutes thanks to Marcelo's "Loyalty Benefits" offer. We then switched to Unlimited Freedom (with the Free HD add-on that Sprint originally wanted $20/month per line for.... remember that?) because the pricing was better with "iPhone for Life", vs. the "Loyalty Credit" for staying on a Legacy Plan. After that, I ran the numbers and switched us over to Sprint MAX, especially for the international travel benefits. There's absolutely no reason for us to switch to Go5G Plus or Go5G Next if we're going to do BYOD by purchasing from Apple/Samsung/Google directly as we've been doing. These new plans aren't priced for current customers to switch to. They're priced for new customers, where they throw in a free line, etc. It's gone from "Uncarrier" to "Carrier". What a shame.
    • Strange business model that they keep around all these pricing plans. 1000s of plans per carrier is reportedly not uncommon.  Training customer support must be a nightmare. Even MVNOs have legacy plans. A downside of their contract mentality I guess. Best to change contracts during a recession. But then all carriers try to squeeze out legacy plan benefits as they grow old.
    • Everything "Uncarrier" is becoming "Carrier" again. Because of the Credit Limit that T-Mobile put on our account for no reason at all (and wouldn't change/update the last time I checked all the way up to the CEO), I don't plan on buying/upgrading our iPhones through T-Mobile. I'm going through Apple directly. Looks like I'll be going through Google and Samsung directly for our other lines for upgrades. Also, we're staying on Sprint Max given the ridiculous pricing for Go5G Plus. On Sprint Max, we currently pay for our Plan: $260 for 7 Voice Lines $25 for two Wearable Lines. (One is $10/Month. The other is $15/Month because the AutoPay discount only applies up to 8 lines.) Total: $285/Month vs. Go5G Plus (Per the Broadband Facts "nutrition label" on the T-Mobile Website): https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce/cell-phone-plans $360 - ($5 AutoPay Discount x 7 Voice Lines) = $325 The Watch Plans show as either $12/Month or $15/Month: https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/affordable-data-plans/smartwatches So this is about the same for the wearables as what we're paying now. Overall, it's quite more than we're paying now to switch plans. Ridiculous....
